  • merci ♥)

  • Sorry everybody. Some of my posts do not make sense. I was confused. I often log on and see the UC Davis TV video of Carmina Burana. Awesome, young African-American soprano for Carmina Burana.

  • the conductor baldini is Argentinian with Lebanese and Italian heritage. I don't think prejudice is an issue for him or that orchestra - it says more about this 'bachgod' character than anything else... I have seen people who just like to provoke debate on Utube - I will give him the benefit of that doubt

  • Hello everyone,

Please keep the racial debates to a minimum. UCTV has uploaded these videos for our entertainment, and enjoyment. Debates on other relevant issues(instruments, details of the composer, history, and the like) seem to be fine, but keep the higher, more appreciable class sections of Youtube (such as these fine recordings) free of irrelevant, offensive, and racial chatter.

    -Thanks.

  • the tenor is amazing!! sounds like an alto, such a light assured voice. he should consider exploring the french repertoire from the baroque area, he could be a great haute contre am sure!

  • Love my bass/bariton. SEXXXXY voice and sexy all over. Tell me he's single.

  • Is amazing... One Woman no Asian or white, that is a lot... 99% versus 0.1 %. I just as a solist, so I can figure out that is for especial funcions in Symphonies or Oratorios. I think this is natural talent that they need. JESUS BLESS YOU.

    I love Jessy Norman... Amen.

  • Only Educated people can understand the intelligence there is involved in bringing together several types of brass string and percussional instrumments along with selecting the individualss who play them . Its nothing to do with race, religion or minority. ITS ABOUT MUSIC!! Everyone has thier very own taste and preference in the arts, Every individual has thier very own idea , thought or reason why they select what they find solice in.

  • @aBastardBaby Yep.

  • JESUS, bless You!

  • this is fantastic

  • @bachgod: Dunno about you, but I can see at least one black face among the choir...not that I normally look at skin colour, unlike you.

  • I have a question? Why just whites and asians.....Oh I have the answer>>> Discrimination, racism, higt income...good education just for rich and for some race...Bad.

  • @bachgod I don't think is a case of racism. Black kids are subject to powerful influence of hip hop rap stuff like that and don't find classical music appealing . You can say it is racist if they wouldn't allow a black person in the choir or to play an instrument. But I don't think this is the case. You are however entitled to your opinion as well as am I

  • @bachgod hi troll.

  • @bachgod I think you believe this because you have racist pretensions. If a person of color found interest in this and excelled at it, I'm sure they'd be first chair just like whites and yellows. Not everything is based on race, actually MOST things are not that way. I think blacks were too busy expanding on this form of music and inventing Jazz to be bothered with the redundancy of classical compositions. But that's just the opinion of one cracker and means absolutely nothing.

  • @bachgod You sir, are the epitome of ignorance. When I saw this video, not once did my mind go to race. When I listen to, sing in, and play in choirs and instrumental ensembles at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, I never see race....and guess what? There are plenty of good, black musicians in most every good conservatory. I know this from experience. Racism is kept alive in this country due to people like you who perceive every situation by race and shout "RACISM" at every opportunity.

  • @bachgod uhhh look again. black and hispanics . its interest that also weeds out people. some people arent into choir

  • @bachgod Just whites and Asians? Did you notice there is only one solo soprano? And that she is a woman of color. That kind of shoots down your race theory dead, dead, dead?

  • I have a question?

  • @bachgod I think u r partly correct. It's combination of culture and socio-economics. Do u think there's a lot of Mozart and Haydn being played in poor neighborhoods? In African-American culture do kids want to grow up to play the french horn or play ball? And classical music takes some bucks. You got to buy the instrument and pay for lessons. Can't go to the top without lessons. And you need parental involvement. Taking to lessons. Shopping for best teachers. Making kid practice.

  • @StJouish That comment seemed like african-american people are poor and ignorant.

  • @galaxia567 Whoops. My mistake. In African-American neighborhoods, people are crazy for classical music and especially Carmina Burana. And most people of color in the United States are affluent.

  • @StJouish Your comment DID sound terrible, you know. But I think I understand what you meant (correct me if I got it wrong :P)...it's *not*, as some people are saying, a matter of taste, or a matter of liking hip hop/rap music/funk better than classical music...it's a matter of being excluded in every sense of the word, of not having access to this kind of music for economic, social and political reasons.

  • @Solangeag1 I taught school in an urban-poor school district. I raised my kids in Lake Forest, Illinois and Ladue, Missouri-—both well-to-do school districts. My kids participated in sports, attended religious school, had lessons on multiple instruments. Most of my students in University City did not have these advantages. Culture means quite a lot. Read "Meaningful Differences in the Everyday Experience of Young American Children."

  • @StJouish yeah, that's what I thought you meant to express, but I think it came out the wrong way! I'm from Brazil, and even if I'm lucky enough to have been born in the "right" social class (I wouldn't even be discussing here if I hadn't :P), trust me, I know what that means...there are very few places like Brazil where you can see so much social disparity (and where people are still dying for lack of food - but according to our governments that doesn't exist anymore, right? LOL)

  • @Solangeag1 I am not sure why U say it came out the wrong way. Please, pinpoint the offensive sentence or words. I did not say anything about the character of the people, I was talking about the culture of the people. In professional class families, a 3 year old has heard three million words. In a welfare class family, a 3 year old has heard one million words. That's a carefully recorded observation from a study of 50 families.

  • @Solangeag1 In landmark study of 50 families, the single greatest predictor of school achievement was the ratio of positive to negative social interactions which child had between 11 - 18 months. Professional class mother will avoid saying no or speaking harshly to her baby. Her ratio of positive to negative interactions: 4 to 1. In welfare class families, the ratio of positive to negative is 1 to 4. (In successful marriages , the ratio of positive to negative is 5 to 1. Being nice counts.)

  • @Solangeag1 Don't shoot the messenger. The kids I taught didn't have food or heated homes in the winter. Very few had fathers living in the home. A lot had fathers living in jail. A lot of their recreational time was spent watching TV. (My own kids hardly every had time for TV—the vast wasteland.) Much classical music on TV? Sure on PBS. But they weren't watching PBS. Some of the kids were resistive to learning standard English. Sorry, people do judge you by your clothes and your speech.

  • Ahh I remember singing this in Carnige Hall back in April with 2 other choirs...great memories to be had!

  • A vida maravilhosa

    em cada acorde imprime

    - modo belo de seguir.

  • Красота какая!.. Спасибо.

  • uqe es lo que hacen al principio?, afinan?

  • @diazconias : Afinan, ajustan y terminan de calentar.

  • MOZART discloses to us internal horizons and revealed the bridge that

takes the humanity to the Sacred one. Gratitude for the indicated way and

direction is observed in his piece.

  • I am an incoming freshman and really want to play in this symphony next year, but i don't think that I am good enough :( does anyone know if there are other orchestras on campus?

  • Awesome! Check me out at 0:35:06

  • @valuemeal2 Are you the baritone/bass (I'm not good with choirs) on the left?

  • GRANDES COMPOSITORES

  • que le sucede al Tenor solista,

    En si bastante aceptable. bien.

  • The Lord Nelson Mass is a musical monkey on my back---I can never get enough of it.

  • Sorry but... Total absence of colors, very few piano and forte, tenors non existent. Poor!

  • Hate to agree with you cuz this is my alma mater, but I do have to agree with you. Don't understand why there is no shaping or shading of the line.

  • Great performance David Simpson!! Bello sonido y control. ¡Muy bien!

  • i am in my school's concert choir and we are doing this mass (from gloria to credo) and i am the bass soloist... and i am so not singing as low as he is lol

  • can i have the real one plese???

  • i subscribe to you

  • this is the song that never ends. it goes on and on my friends.

  • my grandma has to sing this next saturday

  • Actually, Mozart made Horn conc. for instrument called Es horn, two feet longer than this one and no valves, likewise Clarinet concerto is for basset horn, not for clarinet, both instrum. torture to play!!!!

  • close. the clarinet concerto was STARTED for the basset horn. Only a fragment remains. It was never completed for the basset horn. In fact, the fragment from the basset horn except is all that remains. The original for clarinet is lost.

It should be noted that the concerto was written for a basset clarinet which is a clarinet extending 4 semi-tones lower than usual.

Basset horns are not torturous; I like to play them!

  • Choir and orchestra- superb

    Sopranogood intonation, but ornamentation horrible

    Baritone and Tenor nice,

but shouldnt be castrato-countertenor instead of alto?

Mozart Horn concerto, so- so, he made it nice anyway.

  • my choir sings this next thursday..

    wish us luck everyone!!

i hope we can do it justice..

  • wow. that is low, like if I were to say to you I hope you fuckin die. Thats wrong man what were you not given enough hugs as a kid? I hope that the people you did try and jynx did an amazing job, Ive performed the piece myself and I must say its an impressive piece so you know what Jack? Hope you fuckin die and if not I hope your miserable because by the sound of it, thats the most you deserve.

  • lowly grease bag?grease boy? Stinking slippery race?Ha is that really the best excuse that you have for the ignorance in the statement you just made? That because Im not of your race that I shouldnt be entitled to listen to classical music? Its funny how the most ignorant observations come not from the blind but rather from close minded pricks like you.So please give me a better excuse as to why I shouldn't be able to listen to classical music other then the fact that your a really racist person

  • whoa dude, you need some serious professional help

  • we're singing this at school...it's so awesome, i love it. can't wait to perform it. songs in latin are wow!

  • thanks a lot

    greetings to you too

  • THIS IS THE MOZART HORN CONCERTO, This is NOT the Lord Nelson Mass. At least not the first five minutes I've listened to. Delightful as always, but rather not what I was looking for at this moment.

  • Don't judge a concert by its first 5 minutes-- Lord Nelson was after the Mozart. It's not long enough for its own complete concert.

We sound even better than I thought! I wish I showed up in the video though, they usually cut the pan before I show up. Curse being on the end!!

  • I saw this performed by the Cleveland Orchestra. That and this one are both great.

  • why do they take so long to start?

  • They take so long to start because the person started filming way too early. They should have waited until after tuning to begin filming. It's not the orchestra's fault. Dr. Holoman is a great conductor :]

  • they take way too long to start.

  • Do I notice people in the front row with scores? Or are they big programmes?

  • That would be awesome!

  • i can't wait till my h.s. performs this on sunday...it's gonna be soooo good!!!

  • We don't really need to see/hear the tuning up. But if you guys insist. BUT this is not the Missa in angustiis (Lord Nelson Mass) !!!!!!!!!

  • yes it is the lord nelson mass...you have to wait like 20 mins into it 'cuz they have another musical piece b4 it

  • Thanks, will wait and give it a listen. We perf'ed the Lord Nelson last month. What a work. What a hit.

  • Wow this was awesome. We did this my Junior Year in College. Always one of my favorite peices of music....The Soprano is awesome...

  • horror! poor haydn....

  • yea ian ur totally gangster for commenting on a youtube video saying ur gangster

    ur cool....

  • ian...you're definitely not a gangster.

  • That was incredible...
