Chuvashians speaks a dilaect of Turkic language. Modern Bulgarians are assimilated or leaved their culture. They believing that They are Iranian(Modern Bulgars). Proto-Bulgars were an Oghuric Turkic people. Another Oghuric Turks were: Avars, Sabirs, Kutrigurs, Utrigurs, Onogurs, Saragurs, Hunnics, Khazarians.

I would also note that this way the holiday hasn't been celebrated since WW2, celebrations of this sort were prohibited by Soviets all the way up to 80s. Children, in Chuvash tradition the beginners of any celebrations, were under control of soviet teachers. Even today children are missed in the celebration.
in Bulgaria this tradition is caled SURVA .There is obvios relation between bulgarian and chuvash tradition,even names related.Celebration of KOLEDA has totaly difrent origin and comming from slavs and christianity...
