Hi man, beautiful fish, look I want to buy one Amazon Puffer But I´ve heard that they are a bit agressive with other fish that has big fins or tails can you tell me if this is true, please man, because I want to buy one, but in my fish tank I have three angelfish or scalare and I am afraid that the puffer starts to bite their tails, please respond
My pair of Amazon Puffers are very peaceful with the other fish. They don't even bother the guppy fry. I would think that keeping them with Angelfish would be a bad idea, most angels would not tolerate these guys.
@Palor0 Actually angels get along peacefully with amazon puffers I have 4 angles in with one and they coexist quite nicely they look very nice together in the tank i might add also.
The Amazon Puffer is really the only peaceful puffer besides the ultra-rare Leopard Puffer (NOT the Green-Spot Puffer). Your Angels might get a bit beat up, but the Amazon Puffer really is a peaceful fish and might actually get harassed by the Angels, depending on their disposition.
@Withoutfeelings44 I have three amazon puffers in my 55 gallon community. I don't have angels, but I have them with a huge variety of fish including a few gouramis. They do just fine. Sometimes during feeding they can be fin nippers, but not too bad. Mine aren't agressive at all. I think it just depends on the fish.
ur puffer is really cute i wannt to get an amazon one also. btw do they live in brackish water and how come it doesnt attack the other fish? im guessing its still young.
According to Neale Monks (Author of "Brackish Water Fish"), this kind of puffer can tolorate dilute brackish water for a while but cannot thrive in it. They must be fed hard shelled invertabrates to keep their teeth from growing to fast. These puffer's teeth grow faster than most puffers and have to be trimmed by a vet. Like any other puffers, the are very sensitive ammonia and nitrates. A 50% water change once a week will keep them healthy
It'd be so funny to see him puff up!

Well they are about 2" now and seem to be full grown, they are 2+ years old and enjoy a diet of crunchy snails, and frozen worms and brine shrimp.
One of them will even eat dry pellet foods.
