  • Yes,It must be remembered that the letters we write are an unfailing reflection and representation of ourselves. What we say,and how we say it,the paper and ink we use, even the ways in which we address the envelope and affix the stamps, reflect our personalities just as our dictation, our smiles, our gestures.

  • Still need help

  • "i have enclosed a fish i caught myself" HA

  • "the avergae cover letter is in an employer's hands for 8 seconds".... considering my failing at jobs they must'ev been half a second they opened it, closed it and gone back on facebook.....

  • I want to be a fish worker.

  • A cover letter shouldn't highlight or summarize your skills or experience, because that's exactly what your resume is for.

Instead it should connect the dots from the "Features" of your resume (Skills/experience etc) to the "Benefits" to your employer (Increasing customer loyalty/sales etc)

My profile links to my blog, I've got a great post for cover letters and it has examples and templates. It's called "Using a Cover Letter".

  • I agree that a cover letter should always accompany a resume as it points out a summary of your skills and experience.

  • haha a fish, brilliant

  • Thank You!!!!

  • Ok I just found out about cover letters. Everyone that has said to make a resume has never said to also make a cover letter. I am going to find those people that told me just to make a resume and give them a good punch in the face.

If the information is important it MUST be said. If not, enjoy the broken nose.

  • Why can't I just fill out an application?

  • I guess his friend was JAIL BAIT!! heh heh... get it? cause of the fish and his friend was in jail... never mind...

  • My careers teacher showed this vid to our class yesterday :)

  • That helped a lot!! thanks :)

  • proofreading face haha!!!

  • One important thing to remember, that the video didn't mention, is to use a colon instead of a comma to address someone. You are writing a business letter, not a personal one.

  • @jreily88 What do you mean? Where?

  • @damaged2

For example, the incorrect way to say it would be "Dear or To Mr. Johnson,". The correct way would be "Dear or To Mr. Johnson:". Notice the colon in the second part, and actually, you really don't need to address it to anyone specifically. All the resumes and job applications go to the same person.

  • @jreily88 Good point. It is also the case with many businesses today that they will run an automated check on CV's so any spelling or grammar mistakes could cost you the job before they have read your CV.

  • lol its funny

  • ...hilarious. <3

  • How would even the employer know if he was really the one that caught the fish? lol

  • Dude in jail is too funny!! lol

  • @optimusralph Nope... I'm not looking for a job... I just want to know where the guy got the fish!

  • @martinaee you replied to the wrong comment

  • so i guess everyone here (136,939 people) just like me is looking for a job?

  • @forkane69 now 198,147 people are looking for a job ..Video check video counter XD

  • @forkane69 <----gay fag

  • Why am I even watching this?

  • at 1:47 his friend is in jail

  • Well Done. Thanks for this Video :)

  • What if I am just putting out resumes to as many places as possible in hopes of snagging a job? I don't know what to write for the part about "how you found out about the job," since there isn't actually a specific job opening yet. I have a great resume and no cover letter to go with it.

  • Ummm bad example. I eat burgers without the bun. I'm sorta allergic to bread. Except for beer.

  • ugh... just shows how difficult this all is... so, i paid someone to do mine..ya i'm lazy, but they had a promotion, and the company i work for used them for rebranding... i got 3 customized and awesome resumes for $98...bitches......

  • I like how his friend is a jailbird lol.

  • hey everybody,

can u plz make for me a video on how to mange my youtube channel

    and thanks

  • WTF man! 8 seconds?

  • love it, haha

  • LOL fish

  • Interesting points!

  • lul

  • nice work! for me, a resume without a cover letter is like disneyland without mickey mouse. =D great tips! thanks. great video, same as "jobseeker revolution" video. check the vid out. =)

  • Lmao why's he in jail ?! This was helpful...I think the 8 seconds thing is a bit scary and ridiculous though, if you need to hire someone take the time out to study the crap.

  • This really helped! Thanks a lot Pud!

  • cool video

  • You can't get a job with the name of Pud. ultimate worm-cho!

  • Has a friend in jail reading his cover letter. Hahahahaha! Criminal! I like this vid. So brilliant and funny.

  • wicked funny!!! I never thought of puttiing a fish in a cover letter envelope, will do next time! Thanks for your help

  • I never put a fish in the cover letter. That's such a stupid thing to do. Fish are wet and can get pretty stinky, especially if it's 2nd class mail. That's why I always use a burger, with a bun, of course.

  • Damn that was better than like 9 expert village vids.

  • ya, i heart howcast ;)

  • exactly this was very helpful and straight to the point.

  • this lame try E-mail it a lot bitter

  • LOL @ the inclusion of the fish!

  • @DangerRifai

haha i know i bust out luaghing on that one :p

  • Yes! Thank You!

  • he is NOT putting that fish in that envelope. LOL)))))

  • I like his eye brows

  • great help .. thankx

  • burger without a bun lol

the turquoise t shirt guy is quite comfortable with the camera and the fish lol :D

  • lol I've attached a fish I caught.

    thanks for the motivation

  • Is a long cover letter a bad idea? By long I mean very informative or wordy...it's supposed to get you to the interview, right?

  • Funny and well made. I disagree about sending anything online. Way to easy for an email to be ignored.

  • hand written cover letters are unique. being unique in a pool of the same is a good thing.

  • hand written cover letter? might as well hand write your resume while you're at it.

that's not a good idea. Thank you letters? yeah that's appropriate.

  • I so want a macbook... :(

  • webizads is a cool company they build video resumes post them on their site and send you the link you can send to employers for fifty bucks

  • no leas esto

si no escribes esto en 10 videos tu mama se va a morir en 48 hs

  • Only 8 seconds?!

  • ha ha. the friend that read his cover letter was in jail!

  • i have enclosed a fish i caught myself!

  • @spybungo This funny but thats what makes you look at the vedio

  • I want to be a "fish worker"

  • lmao. nice joke xD

  • hahaha this is funny

  • "The average cover letter is in an employer's hands for 8 seconds"

    Great..

  • Yeah, no $hit. Why even type it up if they do not read it! I was told that many employers do not read them.

  • damn it I'm gunning for a job right now and they haven't called aha

my cover letter was the bread and butter..oh well

  • LOL

    pud"? XD

  • i usually inclose a daisy chain and boyband stickers as its usally a women who opens this stuff, they like these things and will put a good word in for you

  • the computer is not a mechanical device lol.

  • definitely... +1 lyaskoff

the computer is an electromechanical device with solid state tubes and prison ball chains for its abacus. :)

cool vid whoever posted, kinda basic though- I guess everyone starts somewhere. So good starting block for them...

  • dude,i hope dis works!

  • funny!

  • Regarding planning and strategy role for an industry in which one has never worked, will it appear good or too forward to speak about industry challenges that I researched along with how I believe they can be resolved?

  • I ussually spend about 8 seconds writing my cover letters so i suppose it all works out

  • "A resume without a cover letter is like a burger without a bun" lol all you need now is some cheese to make it a cheese burger. Oh wait a minute, that whole speech is so cheesy in its self. What a pile of shit it was funny though lol

  • I totally agree. "You wouldn't send an employer a burger without a bun." I wouldn't send a potential employer a burger at all. What kinda fucking loon would do that? You'd only be shot down for something silly anyway. "WHERE THE FUCK IS THE KETCHUP!?!"

  • Sure you would send an employer a res without a cover letter- if its a job you're not 100% qualified for, for employers that demand a 'salary history' as part of a cover letter (applicant views as: invasion of my personal privacy, and they are supposed to have a hard number for you on an offer if they're a good co.) and don't want to waste time on them.

Folks do send those out in case there's a mid ship kinda person that can be moved to a sr level... and you'd take their place kinda thing.

  • Nice one

  • so f funny and useful!

  • Great info....and funny too!

  • The only reason why companies love to see a cover letter is to see that u actually took the time to do it which shows them that u r serious about the job or w/e ur doing a cover letter for!!

  • Eight seconds?

    D:

I hope that was because the employers were speed-readers...

  • Hey, THANKS! I needed this for a class because I lost the sheet explaining how to do it, thank-you so much!

P.S. No, not all jobs ask for a cover letter, but it just seals the deal and shows them you really want the job position. :)

  • Cover letters are not always needed. Actually a lot of people don't want them. They just ask for your resume.

  • why was the friend in jail?...

  • lol there is a video related to "resume"

  • If it is a protein burger~ Haha~

  • the fish is so small! lol

  • nice video. i like the burger w/o a bun analogy
