I don't get it. I'm not a dancer or a professional in this field of any kind, but his performance just looked sloppy to me. People don't need a trained sense of hearing to appreciate a good singer. Why should it be any different in dancing? 9 out of 10 times I have the same opinion of the judges, but performances like these are the ones that the general public will never understand.

Huge, wild, massively precise brushstrokes stepping ALL OVER his canvas in every color and hue of the dark end of the pallet.

@XxRankThiefxX Teddy has an interesting style that is very unique and hard to understand. Through the sloppiness and chaotic nature of his movements, he reaches emotional and musical precision which is a brilliant irony. He is very honest and expressionist with his movements.

In fact, being a part of the general public myself with no real knowledge of dance technique, you've kind of insulted me with that comment. Not only do I understand this performance, I see its brilliance. IMO, his technique is nothing short of amazing because of the fact that through its chaotic nature you can actually see how controlled it really is. it takes incredible talent to do that.

Can you not see the control if every movement he has? The 'hardeness'... the fullness... the way he 'hits' these movements. It's breathtaking.

Teddy is amazing and talented. He is from my hometown, danced at the same studio I did as a kid, graduated high school with my brother, and was my sister's student dance teacher. It's a shame he wasn't a good match for the show, because I know so many people would have loved to see him compete and supported him. I'm sure he's doing well with his dancing and choreographing either way.

the problem with SYTYCD is that they only look for the all around dancer,.... so unless teddy is master of the other styles, he never gets the recognition....plus honestly, i love this style so much i don't want him to stop it!

@YaN8XiaojiE Teddy is also very good at hip-hop. There are several YouTube videos of him performing that style. He is also very good at ballet, jazz and musical theater, and does some tap as well. Unfortunately, SYTYCD has chosen to represent him as someone with a very limited range; this is one of the main reasons why Teddy is not planning to return to the show.

@CarolynT973 I was a big fan of his before SYTYCD so I do know this also, it's sucky that the show made him seem like it was all he could do! I don't blame him for not going back, its kinda turned into a show with no surprise anymore. someone dances, everyone gushes, too many screaming girls.

Adam caught it correctly with his comments - teddy comes from a different place than contest dancers. He's one guy I would pay money to watch do his thing because it feels real. That said, someone less skilled but more versatile would probably do better in a multi-style dance/popularity contest. In fact, they have. Which doesn't change the fact that Teddy is brilliant at what he does. A true artist.
