  • Ty SO much for this video. I've been making the same afghan, same stitch, for 40+ years. Think it's time to venture out? Lol This is a beautiful stitch. I'm starting with a mohair and silk yarn scarf for my daughter. A little harder through the chain stitch but with the years of crocheting behind me not a problem. I'm subscribing to your thread to learn new things. Ty!

  • Crochet Puff stitch is kind of hard.

  • Thank you!!! Now I can do this right =)

  • Thank You!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you so much for creating this video. Your video quality is SO clear. I had to have people show me to crochet in person because I could never see the stitches on videos. Also your instructions are very easy to follow. I feel confident that I can do it.

  • @MegaLiePie I appreciate the comment, thank you!

  • is it ok if i dont skip 1 stitch?

  • @THEMYSYAMIMI If you skip a stitch, the beginning of your work will be smaller. As you progress in your work, the rest of your piece will expand. You will have a piece that is smaller at the beginning and larger at the end. I do not recommend skipping a stitch.

  • i have a question about the mittens you teach to crotchet how easy would it be to convert the stitch pattern to a puff stitch style pattern and how would one go about this because i love this stitch.

  • @willich123 Most likely there would be some modification with trial and error to see if the stitch would work. It may work best with 2 or 3 ply yarn and a smaller hook but that would mean modifying the whole pattern.

  • Love all your videos! I've been crocheting for about 2 months now and have made a ton of hats so far. I'd like to do a puff stitch baby blanket or something similar, do you have a video for that?

  • @wksk8grl This video can be used to make a blanket. You will crochet a chain of 150-175, then make your puff stitch.

  • gracias teresa por estos videos de puntos, aunque yo no entiendo ingles, con tu explicacion, igual he sacado lindos puntos que me han servido mucho, ya que yo no sabia nada de crochet. Desde Chile, thank you.

  • @lahmorga You are welcome! :)

  • i'm having a hard time with the yarn i'm using. is it better to use bigger yarn?

  • Your videos are great for beginners! You start from the first stitch and go slow, and that is appreciated.

I'm off to start my puff stitch blanket now!

  • @nicolajanes Thank you, I appreciate the comment!

  • You make everything seem so easy! After following your videos I can do it too and I've been crocheting less than a month! Thank you!

  • @airforcewifemm You are catching on to crochet fast! Kudos!!

  • Thanks! The video helped. Is it better to use a larger needle for the puff stitch?

  • @kylesdad77 You can try a larger hook to see if that helps.

  • I'm having such a hard time with this stitch. I can do it, but it turns out too small and bunched together. I can't figure out how to get it right. :(

  • @kylesdad77 What you can do is pull each loop up until your hook is horizontal. This will make puffy puff stitches. I have made a video on how to do this and will send you the link.

  • Great video, it helped me a lot. Thanks!!

  • @Dominicangirlp You are welcome! :)

  • hi I wanted to know if the puff stitch makes a nice scarf??

  • @Luvlydrk1 Yes, it will work well for a scarf. I have video tutorial posted for a puff stitch scarf.

  • Excellent video. thank you.

  • I want to make a blanket for a baby, so if I wanted to make this stitch into a blanket, how long would I make the first row? or can this stitch only be done in little sections?

  • I can't believe how easy it is,I mean I used to watch my mom crochet and even learned the basics and now I can learn a lot from you, thanks again.

  • Hi, I am loving your videos, they are so helpful. I have a question for you.....my husbands Mom passed away and she was starting to crochet a baby blanket. I have tried and tried to find out what the stitch is, it is almost like she has looped onto a long needle all the way along the row and then on the next row, picked up a few then single crocheted. I am wondering if I took a picture of it, you might be able to help me out? Thank you

  • @salikins It sounds like tunisian also known as the afghan stitch.

  • Excellent explanation. I'm a begginner and your videos teach me a lot. Thanks and continue posting videos for help us. Nancy from Puerto Rico

  • @palital1006 Thank you Nancy for the comment.

  • where can I find that video showing other stitches mixed in with the puff stitch??

  • ahhh! thanks so much for this vid! I have gone through several different written patterns and could not have figured out how to do this w/o the visual. excellent tutorial!

  • thank you i've been wondering how to do that, unfortunately i cannot read patterns because i self taught myself. Now i shall use this on my hats :)

  • im a beginner and your videos are the only helpful ones i have found on the whole internet! thanks for uploading!

  • I appreciate the comment, thank you.

  • eso es cierto! lñas ayudas proporcionadas por internet es el mejor metodo para aprender

  • great - thanks very much!

  • thank you so much! a great and easy to follow tutorial :]

  • I am making a hat that calls for 2Pstog. Can you explain how that is done? The directions say this "(yo,insert hook in st, draw up long lp) 3 times, yo and draw through 6 loop, (yo, insert hook in st, draw up long loop) 3imes, yo and draw through all loops on hook, ch1

  • It just sounds like you are doing a puff stitch right next to another puff stitch.

  • thanks sooo much! when i'm learning new crochet stitches ONLY your videos are the MOST helpful!

  • like do 3 rows of the puff stitch & then do the next 3 rows with another kind of stitch & then back to 3 rows of the puff stitch & so on? sorry if what i said doesn't make any sense.. thanks

  • Yes, you can alternate different stitches. I recently did a video showing other stitches mixed in with the puff stitch.

  • is it possible to do another kind of stitch with this?

  • What do you mean by "another kind of stitch"?

  • so i only took a glance at this video, as my stuff is not near me at the moment. but this weekend, when i have a chance, i am going to sit in front of this computer and watch these videos until i figure out how to do at least one cool stitch!!!! i only know basic rows of what i think are double chrochets... i am excited i found you! your mannerism IS very calm which will make this enjoyable instead of stressful! thanks so much - i have subscribed!!!

  • I appreciate the comment, thank you.

  • your the best can you please show us how to make the star stitch

  • I do have at least two version of the star stitch. A star stitch hat and a small star stitch pouch.

  • I appreciate the comment, thank you.

  • this is really interesting, and a fun stitch to do. thanks for the vid, it's very helpful!

  • Thank you. :)

  • Thanks for the video. I'm new to crochet and the book I'm using didn't explain nearly as clearly as your video did. The sad part is, this was the only stitch I couldn't figure out. Now I can actually go make my afgan!

  • You are welcome. Happy crocheting. :)

  • ur videos are awesome but cud u just tell me how can i make a sweater...i mean aboout a sleeves and stuff.....basically i wanna know the pattern of how to make a sweater thru crochet..plzz

  • Great video. Easy to hear you, and see your stiches and yarn. I'm gonna go try this one out!

  • Thank you very much, I appreciate the comment. :)

  • Thank you for the video! I am just learning to crochet, and just cannot understand the books and instruction lists! I guess I needed to see it in action. Thanks again.

  • You are welcome. :)

  • It's difficult for me to pull my yarn through all 7 loops. It's tight and won't "puff." I'm trying to keep loose tension, not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas?

  • Pull each loop up high and try to make it even with the first stitch on the hook as you are looping them through. This will make the loose and puff.

  • thanks. I'll give it another shot!

  • Do you have a video on the mile a minute stitch ?? Thanks

  • I love your videos . its great for refreshing my memory LOL . I am now crocheting again and making dollies that I have been putting off for years. sometimes I just watch your vids and crochet with ya LOL . thanks for bringing me back my love of crochet. I have been doing it since I was about 8 yrs old.

  • You are welcome. I appreciate your comment. :)

  • iI would like to say thank you for your videos. I am a left handed person and i already have gone from knowing O about crotcheting to doing granny squares ,chain stitch, and shell all learned from your videos!!! Thanks

  • You are welcome. :)

  • ditto! i'm left handed too.. this woman is a great teacher! what i'd really like to find (i'm dying to find this too) is a video tutorial for a PUFF STITCH beret though:) Any help guys?

  • HI! i just want to say i LOVE your videos. i was just going to ask tho, i have a baby blanket to make and she plans on having a poodle room for her daughter... so here i am on u tube i was just wondering do you think the puff stich will make it look more like a poodle or a popcorn stitch? i really love the videos i just recently learned the tusican, ripple, star, popcorn and puff from YOU!!! thank you SOOO much. :)

  • You are welcome. :) I would go with the puff stitch.

  • how do i know if i shuld stop at 7 like u did? some say 9 some say 8...and do u always do the chain 1 to close it??..can u help me understand cause i wanna make a beret and it has puff stitch and the directions are hard

  • You can make the puff stitch with different amounts of strands on the hook. I recently did a puff stitch square with 9 strands all together. You can do it with 7 or 5 if you find that 9 is to much. Some people find that they like working with less strands on the hook. You need to close it at the top to secure your stitches together.

  • U explain it sooooooo well.....Tonite's my 1st nite learning this stitch, and I'm a lefty!! I love how you go over it again and again. I've gotten better each time!!!

  • Thank you very much. :)

  • Thank you for the explaination, I'm working on a hat which requires some puff stitches. ^^ I'm new at it. Thanks again!

  • You are welcome. I am planning on doing a hat in a future tutorial.

  • I think it is easier for the viewers/learners if you use bright colour yarns. It is easier for us to see. But thanks.

  • You are more than welcome to watch the video I posted this past week of the puff stitch square. Brighter color yarn, dark background.

  • You explain as if I have never crocheted, which I haven't. But was able to pick it up instantly! The camera work is also excellent, some of the others are very hard to see what is actually going on. Thanks for taking the time to make these video's possible to us. Love them! BJ

  • You are welcome. It is great you picked it up so easily. Thank you for your feedback. :)

  • i could this stitch for my sweater it's going to be warm Bye (almost forgot THANK YOU);D

  • You are welcome. :)

  • simply the BesT!

  • Thank you. :)

  • thanks again. i am so tickeled at myself when i can make the different type of crotchet pattern. thanks a bunch. i hope you have a wonderful holiday.

  • You are welcome. :) You have a happy holiday too.

  • I would like to make a scarf with this puff stitch. How many chains do you recommend I do to make to do a scarf?

  • If you want a narrower scarf, I would recommend about 24 chains. That will give you 10 puff stitches for every other chain. You will want to think about what type of edge do you want. If you want to end the edge with a double crochet at each edge, you will need to add 2 additional chains.

  • I agree as well. I've learned so much from you and I've even shared your tutorial with friends who want to learn how to crochet.

  • hi! i love your tutorials..would you be able to possibly do this stitch in a zig zag pattern?

  • I have 3 tutorials on the ripple afghan.

  • Ahh thank you, now I realize what my (soon to be) scarf is supposed to look like :P

  • You are welcome. :)

  • it amazes me how u manage to do that with such long nails

  • When everone asks how I learned how to crochet so fast I sya I have this awesome teacher named Teresa :) You're the best ever!

  • Thank you. It is great you are learning so fast. It helps to be able to have a visual, instead of written mumbo-jumbo and remaining confused.

  • This is a fun stitch! You are so clear in your tutorials! You are the BEST! Thank you!

    XOX ~ Mannie

  • You are welcome. :)

  • I just want to thank you. Seeing these stitches is such a relief over trying to visualize what it's supposed to look like in an instruction guide/ book. So again, Thanks!! (your nails always look good too! ;))

  • Thank you. :)

  • Love it, I'm making a new set of scarves and other things, this is perfect for what I had in mind with one!! Thank you!

  • You are welcome. :)

  • thank u so much! u are the best :)

  • You are welcome. :)

  • you really are the best on the web and i for one can not thank you enough for all the time that you took to share with us your knowledge,

  • Thank you. :)

  • I agree with you "TOTALLY". Teresa you're the best teacher, thanks to you I've learned so much and you have given me so many new ideas! Thanks again for all your time. Louisa

  • ACE!!!!

  • I want to make a scarf, should i use this stitch or something else? what do you think?

  • This stitch would make a nice scarf.

  • Thanks!

  • Thank you for this! I'm horrible with the written directions and only know very basic crochet. My daughter has a blanket that was knitted for her and it's her favorite thing in the world, but is falling apart. I got a pattern tonight to attempt to crochet her a new one, and it involves the puff stitch-which I've never done. Thanks so much for this tutorial.. seeing it done helps me greatly!

  • You are welcome. :)

  • Hi! Ive really enjoyed the video. You know I still have problems to crochet graphics, I do not know how to make it neat, to hide the thread so that you can see the draw or graphic at the end...it get always a mess...last time I wanted to crochet a heart in the middle of my square and I get a bunch of knots...I have no idea how to hide the first color and get into the other color in a clean way...would you please give me some tips. I would really appreciate it!Thanks!

  • You are talking about tapestry crochet. You would use yarn bobbins. I have a tutorial on how to make home made yarn bobbins. That way you don't have to cut off each time.

  • thank you for getting back to me on this, yes joining circles together, to make a baby blanket. it very good of you to help. i love all your video, thanks for sharing .

  • could you show how to join round motif together, please thank you very much.

  • Do you mean joining multiple round circles together or joining to the beginning chain?

  • yay now i kno how to knit. thanks

  • it s very nice, would u know how I could make a beret?

  • I could make one if I had a pattern. I have been looking for a pattern but have not found one yet. I have been looking for a Reggae hat pattern also.

  • there is a video in youtube by tripano who is portuguese teaching how to do a beret, maybe it could help u, type "boina", however, I would like to make one with this kind of crochet, I'm a beginner with this, and it's not easy to me

  • Written instructions are what I am looking for so, if you come across some let me know. Thank you for your suggestion. :)

  • cool design so what can we make from this design can we make a blanket or a baby blanket and how much yarn would i need Thankyou

  • I have seen this stitch used in afghans, baby afghans, and sweaters. You would need a pattern and an idea of what you are crocheting before you can determine how much yarn you will need. On average you will need 10-20 skeins of yarn depending on the size of your project. You can incorporate the puff stitch in to an existing pattern. If your pattern is all double crochets, you can add a puff every so often to make it unique.

  • very good and elaborate demonstration....thank you
