i have been looking for this for more than 10 YEARS ! My father used to have it but we lost it and never knew the artist. Today i heared it on my favorite radio station "Nostalgie" (Belgium) ... I am crazy in love with this track ! I'm sooo happy i finaly found it !!
@TG1980 I was only a little kid in elementary school when I saw Fred Rerun Berry,Adolfo Shabba Doo Quinones,Greg Cambelock, and the other Lockers doing their thing to this joint on Soul Train back in 1976.
@Angorea Disco connection was realeased in 1976,, a dance group in toronto used this track for there routine ,,the group was called TRIGGER,,you had to see these guys dance ,,nothing compares even 34 years later
Many people dont know this but this song was played on thw television show what's happening in the soda shop where Roger Dwayne and Rerun hung out and he also used this song for auditions to get in groups.
@soulbrother61 : Nah. I thought the same thing and found out otherwise when I bought that LP. "Chocolate Chip" came out a year earlier and doesn't have cuts this fast. I think this song had an LP of the same name, though.
Listen to all of those real instruments... Not a synthesizer or anything electronically "enhancing" in the whole number. I remember this back in 1975, I believe. The album was titled "Disco Connection." I remember the number "Choppers." It's a cross of something Isaac-Hayes-funk-meets-BB-King.
Great song by Isaac Hayes. I am going back into time and I am pretty sure the year was 1975. I believe he was the first one in Playing Disco Music. He is the founder of the Disco Wave Music. Thank you Tonio2k8, this songs brings me back memories especially my brother Luis, he used to play the 45 lp record. Legends Die But Memories Live Forever. Greetings from Beautiful LA, CA. USA.
DAMN! This shit taking me back, god have mercy, all the fly ladies up on 125th st. and grant projects, manhattanville projects, along broadway, along amsterdam ave, up at riverside drive, grants tomb, riverside church I use to hang out yes in the church we party (with the lord permission), stone gym, anyone who read this and is from 125th st & bway, in harlem new york city, u know u feel it, back when i grew up in 1970s wl b 50 in april! I made it out, but won't forget who is still there.
@TeamMusse - in the actual video at the top there is an advert bar on the bottom of the video (if you can't see it, can you see the word "Ad") and that bar is the link to iTunes to buy it.
Pity I have no footage of the dancers back in the day - They used to do the "soul shuffle" to this and the footwork was amazing - Manchester Ritz, Blackpool Mecca!
I have been searching for this song for years.I thought it might have been by MFSB because it was similar to that Philly Sound but I also realized it had that Bar-Kay's-Son-Of-Shaft feel so I can see Issac Hayes. This was before disco fell victim to over-exposure.
Awesome! One of the things that fascinates me about music of the '70s is the layering of instruments. There are so many instrumental melodies happening all at once. You hear drums, guitars, bongos/congas, horns, violins, and that cool space-age sound effect at the beginning and the end. The rhythm and percussion are strong. The high-pitched violins add flare. I would love to have been a fly on the wall in the recording studios of the time so I could watch the magic happen. Album credits, please?
Oh yeah that's exactly what I was thinking of when I wrote that. Rerun, Shaaba-Doo from "Breakin" and the rest of the Lockers. Yeah they work this track ta death on Soul Train.
Isaac Hayes rocked this planet EARTH with this great song...I still play it..I love it...!
