  • who were the guys at the beginning with the aprons and axes?

  • Just to make it clear afain - These men are from the the Royal Regiment Of Fusiliers, 2nd battalion, which is a light infantry battalion. Here they are exercising their right to parade through the city of London bearing arms, after a tour in Afghanistan and are now serving on Public Duties, that is, participating in Changing Of The Guard and guarding the Royal Residences.

  • Yeah that makes sense, thanks for clearing it up =p. Ref. the colours, they're a battalion thing. I'd could only assume that a number of battalions mounted the guard. Perhaps they took a number of men from each? This was the point is was tryna make last time, knowing its far from the full battalion mark.

  • thay are the royal regiment of fusiliers and its not a fether its calld a hackle and its a battle houner

  • no one is out of step..the swords are carried in the right hand...the rifles on the left shoulder..

  • alot of the officers out of time lol

  • The march is The British Grenadiers, the regimental quick march, as well as that of the famous Grenadier Guards, which is being played by the Corps Of Drums, who are separate from the band.

Whereas the brass band is made up of full-time musicians the Corps Of Drums consists of drummers who play fifes and drums like those that accompanied armies in past centuries and they are fighting soldiers. In this case, they make up a pioneer platoon, indicated by the men wearing aprons and with axes.

  • thinking about that. it was rather stupid of me thinking that they were royal marines. thanks for the info!

  • lol well its easy to get things wrong when you dont know much about them :)

  • Respond to this video... Fusiliers aren't ligh infantry... Are they? Also, is there not more than one battalion here? There's definitely more than one Colour...

  • @NatInAcid By light infantry I mean they operate without armour, as opposed to the first battalion, which is an armoured infantry battalion.

The regiment only has two regular battalions, three in total counting the T.A. and more than one 'colour' is being carried. I can't say why that is but there aren't enough men here to represent a full battalion anyway.

  • they look like fusiliers too me.
