  • i always love to hear people defending nilsson and everyone else. they don't need your defense. get out there and listen and stop being rude, aggressive and fogeys online. betcha you will snap again...

  • listeners can be easily deceived by the audio. ..gotta see and hear it live! she sounds metallic and probably audible here... good voice though

  • Sicuramente tanto impegno da apprezzare, ma non è Turandot.

  • Maybe a Butterfly but not a Turandot!! NOT a dramatic soprano sorry!

  • hate to make any uncomplentary remarks about any fine opera singer. unfortunately Ms.Lindstroms voice is too thin for this role. I know, it's very hard to appreciate almost any turnadot after hearing and seeing the unbelieveable Brigitte Nielson, but I wanted to hear a present turnadot performing at the Met and unfortunately haven't found anyone as yet to compare or come near the magnificent Nielson.

  • a new nilsson is born!

  • para mí está fenomenal. Superior a muchas antiguas Turandots.

  • Too piercing because she is actually a Lyric Soprano who LOSES the MIDDLE VOICE from PUSHING THE VOICE. Listen to Birgit Nilsson, a true Dramatic Soprano.

  • strong voice - ugly sound - and the Tenor is HOT!!

  • @MsNewguy but terrible voice! completly covered by sopran

  • @MsNewguy His name (which you've probably learned by now) is Warren Mok. He's a great guy.

  • not impressed...definitly not the voice for turandot, she sound's like she's singing in a metalbox...and the only reason that she sound's powerful is because the orchestra is playing very soft and the tenor can't match her.....

thumbs down for lise, as always thumbs up for La Nilsson...

  • I was @ the Met some weeks ago when Lindstrom substituted last minute for ailing Guleghina. To think some of the audience actually walked out at the announcement before the curtain! Lindstrom gave me chills-and I've been seeing this opera at the Met since the 60s. The only other Turandot who affected me as much was Elinor Ross many years ago. Lindstrom was incredible, soaring over the chorus and orchestra with the two high Cs towards the end of Act 2. THE perfect Turandot for my money!

  • I heard her Tuesday night! In person it is a wonderful sound. These recordings don't reproduce the mass and overtones. She is supposed to be the ice queen here. She sang the soft passages beautifully. This voice affected me like none other ever has. Goose bumps from head to toe. Perfect focus. Can't wait to hear her again and again.

  • I love it!! It looks like the tenor is lip syncing to her voice. She is so powerful that she totally covers him. Of course she would cover anyone. I heard her live last night. This is a once in a century voice and then some!! BRAVO LISE

  • I was at the MET for this last night. Lise is the equal of Nilsson except for the very bottom. That will come with age. There were over 300 singers on stage last night and you could not have fit another person in the orchestra pit. She blew over the whole thing and pinned us to our seats. Very impressive. This is a must hear singer!!!! She is beautiful as well !!!

  • @paldrich1 what a ridiculous thing to say. Not even close- La Nisson was one of the voices of the Century. Lise is still a baby with a very long way to go.

  • Apparently you have not heard Lise in the house?? She is young, but is not a vocal baby by any means. This is a voice of singular power. Unusual at 30 yes, but it is what it is.

  • When she sang this role in Louisville, standing next to her was like standing next to a powerhouse speaker. Her ability to sing VERY loud and very soft is impressive. Hurrah for you, Lise on the Met debut!

  • Have you even heard Nilsson's work in this role? The laser like voice is correct. You don't need a Jessye Norman voice to sing Turandot, indeed Norman never sang it.

  • She kicked ass at the Met.

  • I would say she's lyrico-spinto.... Do you think?

  • ... And the sound of this voice in ten years' time????

  • Women in their early 50s, except Nilsson who was a freak, just don't sing Turandot. Jones maybe, but then she takes wild guesses at pitch from note to note. She is as healthy as a Turandot can be.

  • LOL ... yes, sounds that way - but I'll keep an open mind till I can hear her live.

  • Good stuff! Tone is more generous than Gasteen AND has the better low register over Dalayman - hope she gets the recognition she deserves

  • This video doesn't even do her justice, her voice is such a laser beam it doesn't even record perfectly! I did Turandot with her in Orlando, and she was breathtaking! Good thing she will sing it at the Met!

  • I have also worked with Lise . .. she's the best!

  • about time that Lise is found on Youtube! you rock girl!

  • She sure does!
