  • One of the greatest players of his era. Its a damned shame that the Mariners didn't go out and get a closer back in the mid-90s. Had they done that, and with all the talent the Mariners had, their story would have been completely different.

Griffey should have retired with a couple of WS rings. Sadly, that never happened.

  • @rayjr62 I can't agree with you more.. and look at Ichiro a legend that will never be, Felix just got the Cy Young but he might as well be on the Moon, they kept Randy Johnson till his back went out,. Mariners are like a farm team for the rest of baseball. They get great players but have no idea how to use and support them. It isn't money as much as lack of smarts. The owners don't have a clue and the upper management they hire is terrible. Bill Bavasi destroyed more than one team

  • Typical Mariner fans... cheering for Griffey when he got a hit against them. That wouldn't happen in a real baseball town.

  • @miamad You fucking idiot. It was "Griffey Day". Pull your head out. You are probably just jealous because you can't afford a seat anywhere but the upper deck.

  • I was at that game! Too bad he retired!

  • Griffey is back with seattle us mariners fans love him go griffey go mariners.

  • Tis A Shame To See Griffey Gone From Cincy As That Is Where I Am From, but He needs to be Away from Cincy.

  • I was at this game, Cried then, and now just watchingit again. Congrats to Dave N on the H O F

  • ken griffey jr. may be in cincinnati, but he will always be a mariner. lets bring him back and have him retire in seattle!

  • He said he would like to finish his career as a Mariner.

  • Done!

  • It is a great day today. I hope his Dad is here on Opening Day. I saw their back-to-back homeruns in 1990.

  • REPLACE RICHIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • gives me chills. seattle loves griffey so much, he has done so much for seattle.

  • you had good seats though. i was in the nosebleads.

  • i was at that game. that was one of the coolest experinces of my life. ONE of them.

  • i wonder if the seattle fans who writing him death threats for leaving were in attendance. although it seems like the majority of you are GREAT fans. its a true show of class when a franchise can honor a past player even when he comes back playing for another team.

  • I have never heard such a thing...if it were to be true thats really pathetic....i would mind if Mariner fans continue to write AROD death threats though haha what a d-bag tool

  • I am from Seattle, and i am a huge Griffey fan now A-Rod on the other hand I don't like but Griffey is my favorite player of all time watched him since i was 5 years old, and watched him take us to the playoffs multiple times never heard if him getting death threats and Him coming back to Seattle to finish his career would be the best thing to happen to Seattle since before he left. Just an Amazing all around person

  • I was at the 3rd game of the series when he hit 2 home runs against us and It was amazing. I was so happy to be there. He is the reason we still have baseball in Seattle! I hope we can work a trade. Bring Griffey back!

  • I remember watching these games. A little strange when the home crowd cheers when your opponent gets a base hit!

  • It would've been soooo epic if he hit a home run against us. I think that we would've allowed it. :)

  • He hit 2 in the last and 3rd game of the series.

  • The kid is one of the greatest athletes of all time to have never won a championship. I'd be really happy to seem him get one, he deserves it.

  • I was happy when he returned to seattle for u guys,we couldnt keep him from u guys forever ^_^

  • Such a beautiful swing. I do hope he goes back to Seattle once he's ready to retire. Go, Junior!

  • awesome stuff.... griffey needs to come back to seattle. I hope he stays healthy.

  • It was great seeing The Kid back in town... Funny as hell when the home crowd boo'd the pitcher for tossing to 1st lol. Am I the only hoping the M's can work a trade for him before the deadline??? THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!

  • Also pretty interesting when everyone cheered him getting a base hit against us... and scoring :)

  • I can't believe all the cameras going off on his swings! Could've sworn it was Bonds swinging for the fences. Speaking of Bonds, I hope Griffey eclipses Bonds' final career home run total. He is one of the games classiest.

  • do you know where i can get the video of his tribute that they played here

  • OMG I WAS THERE SECTION 125 ROW 30 SEAT 15!!!!!

    It was sooo coool

  • dude the first hit by griffrey there was so like crazy..everyone wanted to see it..the pitcher kept tauting us by throwing it to 1st base..but after he hit the ball and got on base it went crazy..haha..

  • Does anyone know why they took him out in the 7th inning?

  • Nice shot on Edgar and Jay.

  • The first at bat in the video is his first at bat. That is his first approach to the plate with all the cheering. Then I cut out the first couple pitches because they were throws to first base to hold the runner and were followed by lots of boos. The hit he makes next is still the same, first at bat. After that they did a hat trick on him, 3 strike outs. When the game was in the bag his last couple at bats he just swung for the home run for the fans but unfortunately we didn't get to see one.

  • do you have his first at bat on vid?

  • i heard it was the 4th largest crowd?

  • thoes seats arent to shabby!

  • such a sweet swing. must have been nice to see him return.
