  • wrong song definatley won, the problem was 1983 was such a great year for music and the standard was very good here as well but Israel should have won in 1983.

  • 1983 was the year were loads and loads of people felt the wonrg song won. I do remember it, I was almost 10 at the time.

Didn't remember this one, but it is certainly an exellent song.

  • By far one of my very favourites of France, ever...

  • @timbique

  • The more I see of 1983, the more baffled I am that "Si la Vie" won. There was so much class that year. Probably the best for songs and the orchestra were definitely the best, although the production wasn't great. Although this is a very French entry, it's more interesting than most.

  • @spannamatronic I agree: 1983 is one of the great Eurovision years. Si La Vie won because it was accessible. This song is better but too serious to appeal to a mass audience. The belgian entry was similarly left field and brilliant but did badly.

  • This song deserved to be in the top 3 songs of that eurovision. It was excelend but he didnt finish the song good, I think that is why he didnt get in the first 3

    Merci.

  • Reverie...

  • Sounds a bit like the Russian winner from a few minutes ago... :P

  • No way, "Believe" was not at all on par with this, in any way (vocal, instrumentation, melody)!

  • I didn't say it was "on par with" this one, just that it sounded a bit like it. A few notes in the beginning is the same (as far as I remember, I didn't hear the Russian thing since they won, so my memory of it isn't that fresh right now). It was just that when I heard the Russian song, I thought "this sounds like Vivre from the ESC 1983". Of course, a few seconds later there was big differences from this song. Otherwise they would probably not have got away with it...

  • Hm, okay, I see. But I don't personally see any likeness between the two songs, and that was more or less what I meant.

  • i love how the piece speeds up and then slows down

guaranteed the best song from esc1983...actually ty with israel...

  • Guy looks like Austin Powers.

  • And he even dresses like him.

  • I would love to own the original recording on mp3. Anyone??

  • wow that was so great

    france....12 points from romania

  • I thought this was one of the great French songs in the Eurovision. It was a lyrical, melodic song that entwines beautifully with the lead singer and backing singer. The orchestration was beautiful, especially the instrumental solo. Really well crafted song that deserved much more recognition.

  • Yes, totally agree, this is one my very favourites from this year. At the beginning this song held my attention and it's grown for me with every listening, and as such it's a very strong melody, I think.

  • France?

  • A more lyrical piece than a musical piece, as far as I'm concerned; feels like the very long intro to an even longer song. Interesting; if nothing else, France always spice up the competition by bringing along something unlike everything else.

  • one the best French songs in eurosong

    what does "Vivre" mean?

  • means "to live", easy word in French, but not a good year for France, we did better than that!

  • God i love this song thank you youtube

  • The stage was wierd that year

  • In a German documentary it was said that this stage looks like "the inside of a toaster".

  • And it was described by Terry Wogan as "the largest electrical heater in the world". It was without a doubt one of the weirder stage designs; like the interior of a very blown-up barracks.
