@btng213 some people were "listening"... Fulcrum is not a "balance point"... Fulcrum is "the SUPPORT about which a lever turns". NOT a "highly advanced word for balance point".
The person in video indicates holding the stick "half way up the stick" which is NOT a balance point, understand now?
they're called drum HEADS and it's not all in the wrists. Wrists, fingers, posture, and loosen up and FEEL what you're playing. There's more to it than that. You're too tight if you only use your wrists
imho, the fingers are very important, too. The wrist does not do everything. Using the fingers well helps to increase speed and precision. i.e., it's possible to play a fast single stroke roll with little wrist action, using mostly the fingers.
omfg guys shut up. there is no 'right' way to hold a stick anyways. it depends on the style of drummer/music, and just preference. so quit acting like you know everything. and yes, everything he said was 'proper' technique
That's true. There is no "right" way to hold a stick. But there are many, many "WRONG" ways to hold them which, in time, may/will limit your technique and may even cause injuries. And no, everything he said wasn't proper.
"Hold the stick about halfway up" my ass! You'll waste so much energy that way. There should be about half an inch to a whole inch of butt visible below the pinkie.
theres diffrent fucken techique when it cometo holding a stick i just depends on what type of music you play

I disagree... no mention on "balance point" with fingers, critical to use when "blast" hittng (usings fingers, NOT wrist)

if you were listening, "fulcrum" is a highly advanced word for "balance point"

wrong technique. If you use your wrist you should rotate it so the wrist can move naturally. There's a lot more to it . Check out some pro's vids.

I like the analogy of beginners thinking that drums are "Buttons to be pushed." I can't wait to say that to someone! Nice vid...

it's the thumb and middle finger. Check out Dave Weckl's natural evolution. Stop preaching a less economical way to hold the stick.

Most of this guys technique is wrong. Listen to the other pro's posting here, anyone new don't follow this advice.
