I've been a Metallica fan since 1982. I had a "Creeping Death" EP right before Kill Em' All came out. I was a fan from Kill 'em All, up until they made the film, "Some Kind Of Monster."

The only "monster" associated with Metallica was the GIANT egos that James and Lars developed. James, Lars: I've been there since the very beginning in LA and SF. I'm disappointed in both of you. You've treated your fans and band members like sh*t and you know it! Thanks for the music, but kiss my A**!!

@Squall6575 are you saying people remember Battery for just the acoustic intro? middle of Horsemen is a slightly modified Sweet Home Alabama and its Kirk's solos that made that section shine, and most of Master was James/Kirk

but i agree with most people that Cliff's contributions were significant to Metallica's early tracks, but it shouldnt over-shadow the other 3 people in the band at the time

@williamtrevormcneil actually it is more or less battery's intro that mainstream people remember the song for. Cliff knew his theory inside out and helped on the guitar parts cuz he knew the instrument as well. his contribution to master was just as significant as kirk's and James' as well as Lars but but on a much heavier level because he always changed the dynamics of the song the way the others couldnt. notice things after Cliff died became less innovative (not less technical)
