  • I have NEVER seen a touchdown like this REVERSED! Not only was he down by contact, but he touched the ground with EVERY part of the body that signifies a convincing FINISHED play. I have NEVER seen anything like the bad calls the lions get. Guys loose the football hitting the pylon, after barely crossing the plane and that's a touchdown? C.J. catches the ball, gets knocked down, rolls around in the end zone, stands up and loses the ball out of bounds and it is NOT a touchdown?????

  • The rule is horrible as it is written now & very confusing for the fans but it's consistent with the act of a catch anywhere else on the field when the receiver catches the ball in the air. That's the difference from a running back crossing the plane cause he has established possesion on the ground.I can't remember the teams but this has happened 2X this year as well. You can't blame the refs for the calling the rule as written,it's the NFL's competition commitee who decides rule changes.

  • This should of been a TD. His feet were in bounds and he wuz down then we went out of bounds. U see a lot of other players droppin the ball in the endzone and they dont get called 4 it. This is RACISM.

  • Come week 5 on mnf the bears are gonna get their ass kicked. Go lions

  • who cares.......if he catches it the lions win and they still dont make the playoffs and the bears still do....thumbs up lol

  • One of the biggest things I hear about is that there is a "Process" of catching the ball. However, there is NO use of the word "Process" in the rule, let alone the definition of the how long the "Process" is . Let's face it, the NFL f*cked up. But since it's the Lions, who cares.

  • @janderson65 I know how to read and won't admit to being wrong. “if a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact with an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball after he touches the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, the pass is complete.”

  • @EZdashTARGET " He must maintain control after touching the ground" He did so, after touching the ground several times. He didn't lose control of the ball prior to the ball touching the ground - the pass is complete.

  • @janderson65 Amen!!

  • who cares, it's a fucking gay sport! It doesn't matter which fatty has his cock in which ass

  • @gridironisgay

then why are u watchin it, unless ur . . . . gay?

  • @shaochiavang lol OMG!! This happened almost a year ago!! But because it happened to the Lions, nothing will be done about it. If it happened to the Colts, then you know new rules [or clarification of the rule] would have been written within weeks.

  • @gridironisgay

We're sorry, this is not a post for Big Time Wrestling [or whatever they call it now]. Put your beer goggles back on and watch those grown men grab each others crotch.

  • @janderson65

You know, I haven't watched a game since. I figured it was just going to be another one of those years. Going back to the written rule...“if a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact with an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball after he touches the ground." I think this statement is more intended for the diving or opponent contact catches. Calvin's was a stand-up, full possession catch then a tumble. Thanks for commenting.

  • Not a bad call, rules are rules. A bad rule? Yes.

  • @MetalGearOtakon Yeah, a bad rule that clearly doesn't define this type of action. Read it - It's a bad interpretation of the rule.

  • @lieutenantweiner ur a fucking moron!

  • Woooow, i swear to god the NFL have the worst reff's ever!!! they all suck little baby dicks all day long. (saints)

  • @BUFbison23 look up the fix is in and read the book it definitely opens peoples eyes.

  • The NFL just screws the Lions for being bad.

I think they want them to set the record for consecutive road losses or something.

They can disect the rules all they want, it's still a bullshit call!

  • From what I just seen in the video above, the player took a step or two before going to the ground, The ball was caught and controlled with both feet on the ground. At what point is the play ended? I thought, if you caught the ball, and the breaks the plane of the end zone, you get a touch down. I thought on a running play, your body doesn't have to be in the end zone to score, only the ball. It was a caught ball....BAD CALL on th NFL refs and everyone supporting it. The fix is in.

  • @demi9393

If you are running, just the tip of the ball needs to break the plane. With this "NEW" rule "any" caught ball needs to be in control throughout the "Process" of the catch. Although the "Process" is loosely defined, it is being described as the player needs to make a "Second" motion or act other than the "Process" of landing, stepping, falling, and getting to your feet. He needs to get up and literally show or hand the ball to the ref.

  • THE REF'S KNOWS THE CALL HE MADE WAS THE WORST IN NFL HISTORY

    BEARS SUCK HARDCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the ref knows that, was the worst call made in NFL.

    BEARS SUCK HARDCORE!!!!!!!!!

  • @lieutenantweiner bears fans even say that was a bad call

  • @lieutenantweiner you cant say lions fans are whining we've won what 3games in 2years and we havent exactly been a good football team ever but we sure as hell should of won that game.

  • 'process' & 'continuation' are not words used in the rule book. it's pure BS & the refs owe the lions a win during their rematch in detroit on dec. 5th. if they can fix the results of one game, can any result be legit? welcome to the wwfnfl. the glory days are long over.

  • Totally bogus call

He only "loss" control of it when he purposely laid the ball on the ground after having control of it with two feet in and his bottom on the ground.

  • hell. lets just let the ball bounce around two or three times until the first player picks it up. wait you would still need a rule for that. so lets just say the hell with rules and just go smash each other until nobody is left.

first time i saw it i thought incomplete.

  • Lifetime Bears fan here. Ya, I smile when Chicago kicks the crap out of Detroit, but this wasn't one of those occasions to do so. I want the Bears to win every game, but this was a BULLSHIT call. Calvin Johnson clearly had possession of the ball when both of his feet hit the ground while he palmed the ball in one hand. For all those Bears fans telling Lions fans to suck it, tough titty, or saying deal with it, remember to remind yourself of those same comments when the Bears lose a game due to

  • @lieutenantweiner

No not really. Lions are just the latest victim of a poorly written rule. We are fans of the Game of Football and we want a change before it effects your favorite team.

  • the fact is he HAD CONTROL for plenty of time before he released it. plain and simple. there's nothing wrong with the rule, there's something very wrong with the morons who interpreted the rule.

  • fuck the rules that call was clear and blatant bullshit. he was 100% in for the touchdown, who cares what he did AFTER he got both feet down with possession of the ball? I am not even a lions fan ( i am giants fan fyi) and that is BULLSHIT

  • Rule 8, Section 1, Article 3, Item 1 of the NFL Rule Book (page 51) states that “if a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact with an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball after he touches the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, the pass is complete.”

  • @EZdashTARGET The NFL says the key word here is "After" but there is more to it than that. "After he touches the ground" How many times does the player have to touch the ground before the call can be made? If he didn't touch the ball to the ground at all, it would have been a touchdown. Two feet, a knee, thigh and butt should be enough. This simple word "After" is what is so confusing about the what the right call should be. It needs to be addressed - IMMEDIATLEY!!

  • Raider Fan Here I feel ur pain I seen this alot wit the Raiders

  • man im a browns fan...so i know how this feels.lol

  • How is that not a catch? Refs need to use common sense every now and then! I feel for you Lions fans.

  • I have seen backs stick the ball just over the corner of the end zone for a split second, breaking the plane, then have the ball batted away and still called a T.D, so what is any different from this play, he had posession of the ball, got to be honest, It just get's old getting fucked like this, from no hitter's to this, just get's old

  • I am a heart broken lions fan. This hurts more than a winless season. I prayed a hail mary while the ball was in the air, I rejoiced when I saw the touchdown! Then turned off the television, hit the gym for 3 hours to let off some RAGE!

  • @Seabass307 i'm from the jackson mi. area i was completely pissed at a rule i never even heard of..........i was so pissed i hit the fridge

  • He clearly had control of the ball since he was holding it solid with one hand

  • Didn't look like a catch, wasn't a catch... The call on the field was incomplete and the replay didn't overturn it so. GG

  • @NickKnows14 ure an idiot

  • @NickKnows14 Hey fanboy, it's a catch. Look at the rules.

He let go after he was down, yes.

If it was in-field and he wouldn't have done the same thing would it be a fumble? No. Because he was down.

  • WOW i didnt believe it until i saw it

  • That call shouldn't have been ruled incomplete. He never lost posession of the ball until he placed it on the ground after hitting the ground. It should have been a touchdown. This was nowhere near the Louis Murphy touchdown ruled incomplete last season. The fact that it wasn't overturned is proof that refs need to be disciplined more severely by the commissioner.

  • @Eclipton

I consider the Louis Murphy touchdown a catch as well. The ball didn't actually come dislodged until after hitting the ground. Just because the ball wiggles a couple inches [while surrounded by the players hand, forearm, bicep and chest] doesn't mean that the player has lost possession. Again, the rule needs to be changed.

  • I'm a chicago fan and that was by far one of the worst calls EVER...lions won this game. Wow

  • @keg1515

I don't know if the Lions really deserved to win based on the stats, but you're right. In the end, the only stat that counts is the win/loss.

  • Galarraga then this? Do you think this would have been called against the Colts?

How more "complete " can the action be than if you catch the ball, and both feet, your knee, and your hip touch without loosing possession. That is down, touchdown, and game over - unless you're the Lions

  • @cournoyer1954

Good point to bring up the Galarraga incident. But keeping the City out of the play, it doesn't matter if you're a Bears fan, Lions fan or a fan of any other team...the fact is, we want to be fans to the game of football. This rule is going to be bad for all teams at one point or another.

  • NFLs refs are so fucking bad. That call was pathetic and I live in CHI.

  • @amddecker1

I wonder if the same thing happened, but only the ball was out the back of the end zone, if the call would be the same?

  • jim joyce a football ref???????????????

  • Unreal.
