  • I used to work at a car wash back in the 70's and this movie was exactly the things that went on there. We had the regulars that we had nick names for. The Pimp-he dressed just like one. The rich man, his belt buckle was made out of nickels and drove an expensive car. The state trooper that used his lights to get home. The army man. The woman with the joint. And Darrell Waltrip came through with his little brother, Mike. Yes, this is in Owensboro, Ky

  • OMG. Mr. Pryor & Mr. Carlin are both on the cover of the DVD. And yet were not suppose to exspect to see much of them.

  • hiliarous film seen this on amc back in 1999

  • sighhh......they dont make movies like these anymore

  • Fuck cars made nowadays, bring back the cars of the 1970's and lower gas to 1.75 a gallon, then let the good times roll once more. 1970 Mach I Mustang anyone?? :)

  • its still there.....passed by it today...

  • 5 people went to the Blue Bird Car Wash

  • A very fond memory of the seventies. I loved the soundtrack. I can't believe Professor Erwin Corey is still alive. Every once in a while it plays on TV and I see this scenes with Danny DeVito and Brooke Adams that were not in the original---too bad I think they were pretty good scenes and added to the ensamble cast and gave a fuller view of these characters over the course of the day. Let's pray that no one ever attempts to remake it. Who'd play the Franklin Ajaye? Who's better than Pryor?

  • This classic flick kicks ass.

  • It my favourite movie of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm a 46 year old white dude, I've seen this flick about 15 times over the years, and never get tired of it. The pop bottle bomber scene is funny as hell. And l've worked with guys like Lonnie over the years - gruff on the outside, but somebody you'd wanna have a beer with afterwards.

What l never could figure out tho is whether the great great Richard Pryor (rest his soul) was supposed to be a pimp or a preacher. And if he was the former, were the Pointer Sisters his ho's?

  • @imthedorf1964 He was a fake preacher,a wannabe anyway.

  • @imthedorf1964 Why is Danny Devito cut out of all the new releases??. He and his wife hamburger spot was funny, he was a jealous jerk.

  • @imthedorf1964 The Richard Pryor's character in the film, from my perspective was a satirical dig at the questionable links between faith and wealth creation. For some men of faith, ie the many preachers whose congregation seem too be cash cows rather than seekers of enlightenment. PS I concur on a bad day, Car wash always raises a smile:D Peace and love brother.

  • @SMoldie That's a pretty interesting perspective and makes a lot of sense.

Man, thinking about the movie makes me wanna watch it right now. : )

And peace and love to u too bro.

  • @imthedorf1964 Cue the music:D

  • @Dreamersk8 yea he's still in the movie industry, stunt man. He's a cool cat!

  • man i love this movie. one of my all time favorites. the remake, The Wash with Dr Dre and Snoop was horrible. this is a true classic. one of the funniest movies ever.

  • CLASSIC 70's BA'Baaae.....Classic Jam 'Car Wash, haaaay!

  • my cousin is the guy with the ear hat. Henry Kinji.

  • I was in grade school when my older brothers took me to see this at the drive-in;it was on a double bill with "Mother,Jugs And Speed".

    Joel Schumacher wrote the screenplay!

  • Remember when Antonia Fargas as the character in drag said, "I'm more man than you'll ever be and more woman than you'll ever get!"

  • I got to see this movie it looks good. Didn't Dre and Snoop Remade this

  • Dude i just heard this awesome song about a car wash. Oh Shit this song rocks. wouldn't it be crazy if we made a crappy movie about about it? Yeah man it would be about some people and their zany antics. HA.

  • This movie is a classic, I used to watch it on VHS even though I never knew what the hell was going on, I was like 5 years old, lol.

  • i use to work there....its still going...

  • @darrylhaynes No it's not, they tore the place down in the late 80s (Sad)... The location is off of W 6th Street and S Rampart Blvd. in L.A., off of I-110... They turned it into a Mexican strip mall, which pisses the fuck out of me... They shouldve preserve that car wash location...

  • @TR4EVR oh

  • only one place, where it all happens..... at the car wash.. u c everybody and everything....... gotta love it.

  • was the wash with snoop dogg and dr dre a remake of the car wash?

  • 200th...

  • LOL at Pepe Serna devouring a "hot taco" laced with chile. This flick is badazz and funny to the bone. Too bad I was conceived that year.

  • lol i have fun at the car wash rofl

  • Timeless entertainment at it's best !!!

  • ... get it washed ... right away ...

  • marsha i think her name was is so hotttttt lol,but this movie never gets old.

  • I wonder is that car wash building still standing

  • @JAWS8000 Unfortunately, it was torn down a long time ago.

  • I've been enjoying this film for almost a couple of decades, and only recently did I discover there are two different versions of this flick!! The versions released on DVD and VHS are the theatrical cut. But there's a TV version that has a scene with Danny Devito, and a different ending where Marsha's hot date turns out to be a set-up for a blind date (she gets stuck with the guy's friend). I've only read about that on imdb, but I'd like to see it for myself. I hope someone loads it to YT

  • @phillydisco wow. i never heard of that version. i would like to see that myself.

  • ..Franklin Ajaye...the dude with the big 'fro is so funny...we had a guy in high school who was a nut like him..tee hee:)

  • Still funnn-nee!

  • where can i watch dis online?

  • movies have really turned to shit these days, from the 90's down was the only time movies were great that includes tv and music

  • Even just a split-second of Mona (Tracy Reed) is worth it. Man, she was FINE!!!

  • 70s ruled all.

  • yeah i like when fat boy got up with that hooker. lol!

  • this movie Jams!

  • I liked the soundtrack and Richard Pryor's cameo but the movie as a whole is kind of forgettable save for the soundtrack. I never understood why this was so popular and stuff like Dolemite and Black Samson goes by forgotten.

  • Black Samson is the shit! Esp. the street fight at the end! William Smith is the best all-around villain there is. One of them, anyway.

  • jajajajaja

esto me recuerda tanto un dia normal de trabajo!

    jajajajaja!

  • i have seen the movie

  • the 70's was a goofy this in america.

  • 0:47 WE GIVE THE BEST HAND JOB IN TOWN....really?

huh. i could use one of those.

good hand job never killed anybody!!!

  • Great movie and soundtrack..., btw, I'm raising awareness about the Chinese Communist Party persecution of 70 million Falun Gong spiritual practitioners for 10 years in China. They are put in slave-labor camps, forced to make stuff sold here. A 2009 UN report said vital organs are even taken from them and sold on the black market. Falun Gong practitioners are peaceful, not terrorists. China is where all the jobs are going, and the media doesn't cover it. It must stop. Thanks.

  • My fav Car Wash character was the lady who moved into the ladies room. The only time she'd emerge was to ask, "Have you seen Joe?" That was a riot!

  • you mean the hooker that lived in the bath room at the car wash. i loved richard pryor in the movie. best place for your money is in my pocket.

  • CLASSIC-enough said.

  • i remember seeing this at the drive inn with my family, still remember Bill Duke's final scene which summed up the meaning of the film, didn't understand it then, now i do.

  • i went to a one of thoes hand carwashes just yesterday...i watched him trying to clean the bird shit of windows for ages before i let on it was on the inside........

  • How does one get bird shit inside of one's car? Mysterious...

  • my minds still blown about it now dude........

  • @sideshowcarny

    yesh really mysterious.....

wtf could someone do alone with a bird inside his car xD....

  • @sideshowcarny LOL!!!

  • They SURE DON'T. This is one of my FAVORITE films of the 70's. Bill Duke was GREAT in this film. My man Richard even makes a cameo in this. I would love 2 work at that carwash. It'll be fun as hell. Someone REALLY NEEDS 2 put this WHOLE FILM UP.

  • they just dont make movie soundtracks like they used to.

  • This is my ABSOLUTE favorite movie of all time! There are SO many levels to this movie that you only catch when you watch it many times. GREAT MOVIE!!!

  • I agree :)

  • i need 2 see the whole movie ive only seen bits n pieces cause i know no one with the whole movie and it came on tv one 1 night but i MISSED IT!

  • Is this movie rated PG or R ?? Some one should post the exact trailer WITH the rating on it!!

    Great movie and trailer

  • Great plot.

  • The Wash was more like... how do I say... inspired from this movie than remake...

  • It is due for a remake but if they do it would be a Mexican movie. Don't go Politically Correct on me, I'm just stating a fact.

  • I hate to tell the guy thats moaning about that they shouldnt do a remake well let me they have done2 one in 202and 2007 i have all 3 on DVD NOW : )

  • I can watch this movie all day!

  • "We give the best Hand Job in town!"

  • best movie ever

  • Love this movie!! I want it on DVD.

  • i got mines

  • Lucky u. I still have my old VHS copy, but it still works.

  • j'adore se film , et cette zic qui fait déenchez , allez danse yéééés

  • This is such a sweet movie. Yes, it's a little crude, but not mean in the way a lot of movies of the gross-out comedy genre are. It's one of the great hang-around movies, like Barbershop.

  • Can you say "Remake"?

  • Well, there was The Wash, but I think they should leave it as it is.

  • are you suggesting they remake it?

    cause if so

    fuck you

  • I wouldn't want to see a remake. I don't think Hollywood could recapture the magic the original had. AND, I wouldn't want to see today's "pop stars" cover these classics. Some things are better left alone.

  • i feel u man...LET IT BE!

  • Nicely said. The reason there are so many remakes is that hollywood is out of ideas. Worse than this was the rumored Dolemite remake with L.L. Cool J in the Rudy Ray Moore role, for fuck's sake. Thankfully it was just that. A rumor.

  • @koolaid28 true that!

  • @koolaid28 You are sooo right my man!

  • @koolaid28 AMEN TO THAT!!!

  • this movie is great

  • classic!

  • this movie had a budget of a major film, but was more like a b movie.. really strange.. i remember when it came out it was huge,.

  • I actually have this movie on DVD and the CD soundtrack by Rose Royce! Classic!

  • I love this movie!

  • Excellent film!

  • please keep this clip up!!!

    amazing~

  • Antonio Fargas ! Gayness !

  • I like the line, "I'm more man than you'll ever be, and more woman than you'll ever get!"

    oooh - S-NAP!

  • This was a Classic movie!

    Thanx!
