they are one of the only comedy acts to ever have a comedy record on the billboard charts. Their Earache my eye was played on FM radio stations more than some top hits when that comedy album was released. True comedian genius.
I saw this at the drive-in the year it was released and we were all smoking out and when the hendrix part came on and he sang "whats this negro doing on this stage" we all laughed so hard we missed about 10 minutes of the movie after that scene. Was so much fun growing up back when these guys were doing their stage bits and these movies. There should be a comedy hall of fame and cheech and chong should be #1 on the list of entries.
(lights flashing, pulls to side of road.) Officer:liscense and registration please. Me:here you are. Officer: step out of the car please. Me: Damn! Officer: Sir what is this? I love how peewees trying not to smerk....You know he does coke while he beats off to teen gay porn or on the back of peoples heads in the porn theatre
Oh yeah, and Stacey Keech smoked so much pot he turned into a lizard. The Timothy Leary, Michael Winslow part were the best part of the movie. But the best line was when PeeWee/Paul Reubens says "mister lizard. A monstaer! Would you like a haaaammmmburrrrger hahaha" in that gritty voice he does. Classic!!!
Oh, and before that he also does the I;m sorry.... I'm not sorry bit too!
wow me and my cousin would die lauging at this part when we were 9 years old, it was creepy than of course surreal! hahah.. I haven't seen this since! Now in context, how crazy
@Smkiller check his wikipedia entry. thing is that the facts of his death were confusing and contradictory. it's known that he had dope in him, but not whether he took it or whether it was forced into him. some weird accounts--kinda like those when Michael Jackson died. Fact is that he did try to throw up and drowned in his own vomit.
because he was later caught with crack and cocaine. Being a hypoccrite is telling someone to be a certain way when you behave the exact opposite. It's like if your father were to tell you not to smoke crack when later you see him smoking it.
@dailysmoker666 i remember it had been introduced, though it wasn't as big a thing as it'd be glamorized in the 80s. i just never heard of him using it.

@mghillsburg why is it too bad? Too bad that Cheech & Chong made Nice Dreams? To bad I had to post this edited scene? What exactly is too bad? I just really feel the need to know!
But the reason we do this is to Survive, we are not creatures of nature, or at least, we aren't now. And claiming to be apart of something that we have spent that last 4000 years trying to separate ourselves from is hypocritical, at least as long as you do it within the cities that separate you from nature
now, if they had went out into nature and set up a settlement, with tents, no air conditioning, and no drugs, i would respect them
so you think thousands of people, born and raised in cities, suburbs, who really just wanted a peaceful coexistance with the rest of the world, had to go live in the woods for you to take them seriously?
Actually nature is what keeps us alive, & Not to mention we feed off of nature, we are apart of nature. We can't be seperated from it. Understanding the importance of nature is seeing past what the society may put on you. But I do agree though its hypicritical about the government part. But one man can't live off just himself (Atleast I dont think so) He needs more than one person. Like the Hippies did, they set up their own communities. So they weren't retarded, they were just smart.
ya mean like they are still doing to this day because they are still smart,.. probably twice as many communities then in the 60's,.. have you been to Oregon lately....the meek shall inherit the earth....
I also dont think theres such things as wannabe hippies. Unless their not trying to disconnect from this crooked societies restrictions. So you can be a young hippie, or a hippie of today.
Oh there is such things. Now more than ever, of course. Just people doing it for all the superficial reasons. But I know what you're saying and do agree. I'm just idealistic as hell by nature... to a fault sometimes. To me, I'd just drop the label entirely. But that's just me.
Okay i'm not tryin to piss anyone off and i know drugs are bad but...can anyone really take anything serious from pee-wee herman? i know he means well but this is kind of funny.
Well then open your mind. Hippies are examples how life is supposed to be before the system. We were meant to be free and to live life happy instead of stressfull, and etc. Depend on nature, not technology.
Let me elaborate. Hippies were great. You know, the TRUE hippies. Not these pretentious wannabes that have attempted to emulate them. Most people you would consider "hippies" aren't. Even many 60s 'hippies' became so because it was getting popular. That's all a vain lie in my book.
But what I'm getting at is hippies, for the most part, were quite naive. They were in the right ballpark, of course, but what they were doing was certainly not the answer. Just the 'right idea'.
And had they, as some have, kept true to the substance of their hearts and what they were doing, they would have continued to progress and evolve into something much more powerful, culturally, spiritually, all that. Cutting dead weight such as their conforming, trendy fashion and the idea that LSD was a basically a panacea. That mindset, that group of people, needed to grow.
Drugs are drugs. I don't condone any drug use -- legal or illegal, except when maybe a rhino steps on your leg. In that case pain killers can be much appreciated. And when the dentist is filling a cavity or extracting a tooth, the meds can be a wonderful thing. But alot of the prescription meds for ongoing disease process are largely not good, and don't really solve the problem. .
He might of sounded like a idiot to you because you could't articulate his vision. I talked with him at a book signing in Austin His creative thinking took an expanded field of putting his words into reality. I'm guessing you are under 40 and not expanded your own thinking with many trips. Read about Owsley Stanley, and study William Blake to better understand. It can change your life man.
No, it's because Leary couldn't articulate a coherent sentence! Judging by your convoluted grammar, jim, I'll guess you just now fried your last 6 active neurons.
And you're guessing wrong -- I'm 46, and have watched many get into drugs, alcohol, etc, and then OD.
To someone with drug-induced brain damage, it must seem incomprehensible that someone could have an open, searching mind without using drugs.
I'm not drug-free because I'm close-minded, it's because I'm too smart for it.
Well, I as well have a certain amount of "brain damage"... emotional trauma as a result of a severely dissociative state and the ensueing panic. Anascoria.
Here, this is truth, so listen... Drugs are very powerful (im talking psychedelics) and should only be taken by those who are emotionally stable/secure. The only way drugs are bad is the lack of knowledge on the part of the user. I believe they shouldn't be done but maybe once a year... MAYBE. There are more natural, spiritual methods.
I met Timothy Leary once after one of his "lectures" at a university. He was embarrassingly out to lunch. He scared the heck out of me, because here was this supposed cultural icon who was essentially just a blithering idiot.
they are one of the only comedy acts to ever have a comedy record on the billboard charts. Their Earache my eye was played on FM radio stations more than some top hits when that comedy album was released. True comedian genius.
