A countries army is to protect the country and its peoples from outside threats. Inside threats are dealt by National police. Two different worlds. Armies are trained for one thing, to close with enemy and destroy them. Police are trained to arrest with minimum force and let judge decide. That is how its done it the a developed country. Mynmar is the perfect example of a third world crackpot dictatorship. Army to deal inside only kills innocents. No freedom, no life. Too Bad, Burma.
as long as we expect and put our trust in other... we will never be free... those who ask for help and put their trust in other to help them sadly their will is broken... don't just listen to other and do what other do blindly..
take some time and think about it.. look around u if you really want burma free do something about it don't wast time trying to ask other to help you do the job that you should be doing..."help burma".
Criminal Governments want us to be violent, as to have an excuse to use force against us. The government with all it's (tax funded) resources can always muster more force than we can.
It's not hard to cause an angry people to start to use violence, hence Agent Provocateurs are everywhere.
As for the rest of us: "know thy enemy" - we must know that those are the kind of methods the government uses against us.
In 1990, the people of Burma democratically elected National League for Democracy ( NLD), led by Nobel Peace laureate Aung San Suu Kyi with a landslide victory, securing 82% of the seats in parliament.
But, the military generals refused to hand over power. On one hand, we can say that they are thives.
Then, they put Aung San Suu Kyi under house arrest. No outside communication like phone and internet are not provided. We should tell the junta to give her back power.
Ten Steps to a Fascist dictatorship! The ten steps are: 1. Invoke a terrifying internal and external enemy 2. Create a gulag 3. Develop a thug caste 4. Set up an internal surveillance system. 5. Harass citizens' groups 6. Engage in arbitrary detention and release 7. Target key individuals. 8. Control the press. 9. Dissent equals treason. 10. Suspend the rule of law!
(Here comes Bush's Directive 51) Bush doesn't have anything on Burma's government; he is a dictator too!
1st Bush is a democratically elected leader who is more honest and honorable than most politicans i know. 2nd Dictatorship won't stand if everyone is willing to rise up against it and stand up for their neighbours. With China, India, Russia, Japan and Taiwan financial and political supports, Myanmar's unrest will not lead to anywhere near democracy yet. But i wonder how long the military government can keep the entire nation terrorized.
I'm not sure where you're from, but you must not know too many politicians. The American political system is now fueled by cash, not votes. Even the media and our once impartial government institutions like the Dept of Justice and the Pentagon, have become part of the cabal. This is the Bush/Cheney legacy. Hopefully the next administration will forfeit these powers (somehow I doubt they will).
American government institutions is never impartial, American media is always biased, and the political system is always fueled by cash. I never like Bush or the GOP, too. So what? We are not living in a perfect world and that is why it is our natural duty to monitor/change our government and its policies.
I hate Bush's policies or the GOP. But will anyone else make a better world? Can they turn back globalization and stop the shifting of American jobs? Will they be able to create a peaceful-united-democractic Iraq? Where will they find the money to fund the healthcare for all and domestic projects? Will they stop supporting Israel or the oil companies? In the end, your seat determines how intelligence you are.

I have been wondering how the soldiers feel in Burma. I can't imagine something like this being on one of the American networks. Good work!
