Wow! In many ways, scarily real. Particularly the remote feeling, which I know is part of paranoia. I guess some of the action could have been 'quicker', by that I mean fear focused quick, if you know what I'm saying. But as you had to fill in for most of the actors it was never going to be ideal. Still a very good effort. And the shock ending is great.
Excellent film, but once again, consider some haircuts and shaves when you are doing military roles. Stubble and even a well-groomed mustache is just fine, but the German Army would not have allowed beards.
In both cases regarding the hair in this film, we had people fill in the roles of people who dropped out at the last moment. I played one of the Germans in the knife fight and I wasn't even supposed to appear on camera. I was the director. The others were crew who ended up filling in for actors.
We dabbled with it in this, but did not want to do anything extreme- at least not for this project. We have a couple films that haven't been released that we have extreme filters and color correction on.
Admirable effort. The camerawork and editing are very well done. The angles, the boxing, the staging are certainly well thought-out. I'd like to see this re-done with a few changes and sent to a film fest some day.
Things to fix:
- Wrong boots on paratrooper. You could get around this by not showing his feet in the frame when he's running.
- Pilot and Germans have wrong haircut
- On at least two occassions, the actors looked at the camera.
Thank you very much for your kind words and constructive feedback! I agree with all the recommendations you've made, but the first two were due to last minute changes. The airborne uniform is my own (I'm the director), and it was used by an actor. I had the proper boots, but they didn't fit the actor. Originally, we were to have different actors as the pilot and the Germans, but they all canceled last minute, so my film crew filled in. You're completely right about the last two.
Thanks :) I'm the director of the film, and the airborne kit was mine, the problem was the actor didn't fit into my boots so we had to improvise. I honestly didn't think people would notice.
Before anyone else thinks that gun the paratrooper is holding is an MP-40 it's not... my friends thought it was so just to clear it out it is a M3A1 Grease Gun
advice: some of your shots indoors were almost totally black, try to angle the camera so that you can see everyone clearly. blood looked a bit too red, make it loke a vapour. when bullets hit the ground use 'snaps' to create a dust/smoke effect. handheld shots when running need to be slightly more balanced. Otherwise this film is almost semi-pro. 5*
I totally agree. The problem is we usually have actors that bail on us the morning of filming, and we end up having to throw ourselves in as actors, which we weren't expecting.
whre did you get the guns?
