this is Galaico Portuguese. it's very old. probably taken from an old Cancioneiro (collection of many songs). Portuguese and Galego are very similar and going back a thousand years or so it was allmost the same. like 99% similar or worse.
this is the original lyrics: "Da que Deus mmamou o leite do seu peito non e maravillia de saar contreito Desto fez Santa Maria miragre fremoso ena sa ygrej en Lugo, grand'e piadoso por hua moller que avita tolleito o mais de seu corp'e de mal encolleito O bispo e toda a gente deant'estando veend'asquest'e oynd'e de rijo chorando viron que miragre foi e non trasgeito porende loaron a Vigren a feito "
I speak portuguese, but the lyrics are really hard to translate/understand, specially because the way it's is so old and the order of the words are so unusual...
A song to sing around the village campfire sometime in the 22nd century, whilst the children play in the long deep overgrown brambly cutting slicing through the vast forest beyond. When they ask who built this cutting and why, we'll say, our grandparents built it, raced fast machines down it, and we think they called it the Em-Wun, or was it the Ay-Wun, who cares anyway....
I really love this wonderful cantiga!! I discovered it through Maite Itoiz and John Kelly, in their concerts.. Since then I love all the songs of Alfonso X, they are just great! Do Faun have more cantigas of the king in their repertoire??
Yep, the song is by Alfonso X; it isn't pagan at all (being dedicated to Virgin Mary) but it's very nice anyway. And very lively, especially with Faun's singing. I'd be grateful if someone translated this song; AFAIR, it's written in Galician-Portugese, and I hardly understand Spanish...
@OldWaysFollower the tribes living there was galatae or keltoi also caled iberic kelts (celtiberus) it isnt spanish the celtic cristianaty is paganism under disguise and all the celebracion`s dates are from pagan belifs but any way i`m sorry it´s very hard to translate this kind of celtic portuguese
Cool! I was there too, standing in the back! It was so much fun! Do you have more videos where this came from? If so, it would be great if you would add them!
