  • Bipartisanship requires concessions and sacrifices by both sides. The GOP was completely unwilling to make any. The Democrats had no choice but to move on without them.

  • Humm...hard to call it bipartisan if 39 democrats voted NAY and just one republican voted YEA.

It passed only by 2 votes over what was needed to pass. That's 1% . Pretty close call . It is unlikely the bill will pass in the Senate.

  • Now what needs to be done is streamline insurance. Much like the chips put in pets should be put in people so we have our medical records instantly available. The provision of sec 3.244 is a good start for this. Finally we have a means to control cost and ensure all citizens are forced to have care and their records.

  • Those who need it should have it -- those who have private insurance should not be forced to rely on government.

  • Wish it could start right now until of waiting for years!

  • For those interested, Cao has always shown an independent streak. Perhaps, he's the first Red Dog Republican. Here is on his historic election day:

  • Congress passed Healthcare reform between a struggled against a similar odds of 51-to-49. Wow....

Please watch this video for a review on this bill:

  • finally you are going to have good health care! its about time!

  • I am not sure if have good health care, but hopefully this will guarantee a lower cost for every American... which is way overdue and still good =)

  • If we drop in quality that will be ok, at least everyone will have care.

  • Just as good as the VA, Tricare and Medicare! I cant wait!

  • It is not as strong healthcare reform as we need but it is a start. With over 46 million Americans uninsured progress is essential. We must get the profit motive out of healthcare. A good living for healers, yes, but insurance profits are obscene.

  • Yes I know! profit margins for the insurance industry where a whopping 4% last year. Hopefully next year they wont have any profit and we the people can claim what is ours.

  • How come some Democrats complain that this is a handout to the insurance companies but I've never read that as a Republican complaint?

  • Whew. It's a START. Don't you dare relax now, Progressives!! We still have to make this a strong public option!!

    Congratulations!!! !! !

    <3.

  • Who was the one GOPer with testicular fortitude?

Also, I see 39 Liebermans need a talking to. (A Lieberman is the new Benedict Arnold).

Kudos to Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer and James Clyburn, job well done.

  • ahn cao from louisiana

  • Thanks Kata you always know your stuff.

Ahn Cao? I should've guessed it wasn't one of the regular good ol' boys.

  • Republicans = Party and Self Firest, Before the Nation and the American People. What a disgrace for a political party. The GOP is a shame to this nation.

  • Woot! Woot! I am doing the butt dance! I knew this was going to pass.... Hey where is that guy who said he would hang his testicals over a rattle snake cage... If it passed???? LOL

  • Watch as the Republicans pile on that one lone Republican who voted yes on the bill and call him a socialist marxist facist, etc. for going with the Democrats.

I hope some of those 39 nay votes were Dems who felt this bill wasn't strong enough, rather than corporate buyout blue-chip/dog Dems.

  • Joseph Cao will probably end up dead or something now knowing the republicans.
