31:00-31:25: Toby Capwell does not know what he is talking about when it comes to mail armour. Padding was not the primary armour. An aketon was an augmentation to mail which allowed the latter to reach its full protective potential and not the other way around.
@Kingofsomething87 I agree completely. Toby's a great guy and an excellent armor historian... I've read some of his work and plan on purchasing more and admire his experience. Because this isn't his era of expertise (he's a 15th century fellow, after all), I assume it was just a slip of thought for him to describe mail in such a function. Oh, well. Can't ever rely on such documentaries for 100% accuracy. This one's better than most!
Interesting. So, Robert of Loxley (Robin Hood?) is WM's enemy. And for those that have seen the movie "Ironclad", WM should have been in that movie at King John's side, orchestrating the siege and destruction of the castle (and the heroes). In the end all the "rebellious barons" who were trying to re-establish the Magna Carta, were defeated by WM after John's death. But when he was regent, he went ahead and made it law anyway. This was a man who valued justice, but put loyalty first.

"knights were highly trained and valuable assets..."
This. It makes no sense whatsoever that they would be allowed to put themselves into senseless danger.
