  • I CAN'T SLEEP

  • 1:30 to 1:40 that's why you are watching this video

  • The old man is thanking us for suffering through his face.

  • release dates

    X - 05/29/92

    mario paint (US) - 05/05/92

    mario paint came first

  • 1:25 he is going to either rape me, eat me, or a combo of the 2

  • How come my mom gets to go to game over screens?

  • Picture of wily blowing raspberries during the song might be a good game over screen

  • I clicked the link

  • When it gets to the creepy scientist, the music sounds like a very high-pitched version of the drowning music from the old Sonic games. :D I'm good at making music connections! :P

  • @amyarceefusion2000 Even though it isn't.

  • @amyarceefusion2000 so why didn't you find out about the music instrument which is played in the GB Zelda too? ...or the Pokemon noises. LOL I was like "woa dreamy music like in Zelda" THEN A POKEMON HIT ME IN DA FACE

  • Yeesh, that's creepy.

  • O.o

  • God, that guy is so creepy... o.o

  • This is then the first official appearance of Kazumi Totaka's song then? I heard there was a chanced it was in "X" but I thought "Mario Paint" was the first game to feature the easter egg until now.

  • Man, when I seen this, the fake actually made me say "wtf?!" and the music before Totaka's Song didn't made it better. Lol! It was creepy as hell! But nice find, man. :)

  • wow. stunning graphics on this game!

  • this guy looks like an offspring of grandpa pickles and dr. wily

  • I'm getting some serious Game Boy Camera vibes from this, here.

  • DR ANDONUTS IS NOT AMUSED

  • Oh my gosh, it's Wily from Mega Man!

  • its dakta wawy

  • i don't buy it. kazumi totaka usually makes players wait at least 1 1/2 minutes for the song to play. that was like, 20 seconds! also, he usually makes the music that was playing before the song's appearance continue to play after the song ends. this video violates two rules of totaka's song.

  • @stancoolness That was edited, if you did your reasearch, you'd know you wait 2 1/2 minutes

  • I was redirected to here from Wikipedia, but I saw this video before. Totaka is awesome when hiding things.

  • One:Creepy Face is Creepy

Two:you just De-Throned Mario Paint as the first game to have Totakas Song.

  • One: It's creepy, because it's the wrong scientist. The real one (seen in Mission 4) isn't creepy.

Two: Although, old news, the Famicom/NES Gradius also de-throned the Famicom/NES Contra as the first game to have the Konami Code.

  • The ending of the song reminded me of the music in DK64 in the crazy scientist's lair or something like that. you may "STFU" if you wish.

  • To explain what's going on, here's a description of this mission from NinDB:

Mission 4: The scientist Dr. Yamano has been captured by the alien forces. Your mission is to rescue him from one of the alien bases, but you don't know which one. Most contain giant spider tanks, and one contains a fake Dr. Yamano. You have 60:00 to clear this mission.

This is what happens when you find the fake, freaky Dr. Yamano.

  • Freaky is an understatement.

  • Is that a body that flies up to the screen??? And why does it say thank you?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • I don't know...

    "Thank for running over me?"

  • The music in the mission 10 is awsome.

I really want to listen to it now...

  • wow... A tokata song b4 mariopaint cause MP was realeased in 1992 while X was released in 1990..

  • I love Kazumi Totaka!! He is one of the best video game music composers of all time.

And by the way: Nintendo knows about his song and where he put it in the games.

Does anybody know where the song is hidden in Wii Sports?

  • Nope. :(

  • He's up there alright, but I think the best is Yuzo Koshiro is top dog. What that man could do with a Genisis sound chip was amazing.

  • No, I have a feeling when you hit the HIT IT HERE sign, in baseball, without the ball bouncing, it plays.

  • It hasn't been found yet.

  • Wow man great accomplishment. Congratulations.

  • he's the voice of yoshi.

  • why is he so angry/annoyed/both :<

  • ow my brain....

  • That fucking madman looks like Mr. Carpainter, leader of the Happy Happyist cult from EarthBound (SNES).

And that thriller music with Totaka's Song makes me think what the fuck he's meaning that "Thank you".

  • SCARY!

  • He looks like Pennywise the clown. :D;

    the tune before Totaka's song starts playing plus the face is kinda eerie. o.o;

  • LOL! "It" references ftw. :D

  • I think it's kinda not fair to make fun of anyone who thinks that Mario Paint was the first to have this since this IS a japanese only game. I only just found out now cuz of the magic of the internet, pfft.

This is really interesting looking though with the 3d, wow! They sure like to keep us outsiders in the dark about tittles like this, haha!

  • Kazumi Totaka is a pretty cool guy, eh, he hides songs and doesn't afraid of anything.

  • I lold.

  • Creepy

  • The song that plays before you approach an enemy reminds of the Village song from Link's Awakening.

One of the instruments is the same as what you hear in the game as well.

  • Doctuh Wahwee

  • Freaky...

  • I didn't say creepy silly~ I said wacky~ You know, funny and wierd~

    Simon: XD haha

I don't know the game at all, only because Totaka's song is in there.

  • This game should of been popular for a few reasons:

1 - The first Tunnel Scene background music is so catchy, it was added to SSBB. A lot of people like the original version more than the SSBB version.

2 - If FaceBall 2000 for Game Boy doesn't count as a 3D game, then X was the first 3D Game Boy title. It was designed by Dylan Cuthbert, who formally designed Star Glider 1 and 2.

3 - This was the first game Kazumi Totaka composed music for.

  • This rules out Mario Paint asb eing the oldest game with this song in it! W00t!

  • If anyone wants to jump to it quickly, it plays at 1:30

  • Oh my god DX thats freaky, NOW I have a feeling totaka's song is gonna be the death of me e_e

  • I'm not the only one who saw a stick figure am I?

  • Nope, I saw it too. O,,e"

  • It looks like, when you blow up that building, the explosion launches the stickfigure into the air and you ram into it with your aircraft XD It's the scientist, with his face stuck to your windshield XD That would explain the wacky expression~ I'm wondering why he's saying 'arigatou' though XD I wouldn't be saying 'Thank you' to anyone that blew up my house and ran over me XD

  • YES! XD

    He's like Weeeeee!!!

*smashes into windshield* Ty for blowing up my lab and running me over *eyes fall out* 8D

    XP

  • @Purly He's most likely talking from the electronic screen used in the cockpit, but good joke you made there.

  • amazing find. That guy looks excactly like dr. wily though.

  • You sir have won the Internet

  • ...ugh... that guy is saying thank you, but he scares me!

  • Fucking scarier than the other versions, Totaka's song sounds very, very scary.

  • @Nintendostar123 I freaked hell out when I heard i in Yoshi's Story.

(Left it for the Trial Mode Stage Select and decided to do some kind of snack in the kitchen, when I heard it. (-l_l-;)

  • ha that little song clip was in Mario paint also.

  • thats the point, totaka hides this song in the most if not all the games he works on. It drives people crazy looking for it. Wii sports and SSBB are still being looked over as far as im concerened because his name is in the music credits

  • Someone's claiming they found it in SSBB, but they didn't give video evidence. =__= Look at the Youtube video 'Totaka's Song in Brawl'.

  • That scientist scared the shit out me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lol im gonna have nightmares for like a month now ^^.Im gonna hear the creppy music then my door is gonna slowly open and then i see him O_o. Thank You...

  • Looks like Einstein.

  • Looks like Grandpa Pickles from Rugrats to me :P

  • @Ninjabenkei Well, back in his day, they didn't have hidden songs. If you wanted to hide a song, you'd have to walk FIFTEEN paces north of your house and bury a box with a record in it FIFTEEN feet deep in the ground.

  • @Ninjabenkei So THAT's why this game wasn't released outside of Japan!

    Copyright issues!

    (facetious comment) =P

  • GREAT find. Who'd think that Totaka's song would be in the first game he composed for already?

  • The Japanese text says, "Thank you", for some reason....

  • Perhaps it was used for creating a fraud.

  • Thank you for bringing the EVIL DOCTOR FROM DEATH!!!

  • That mission is one where you have to rescue a professor. When you blew up that building, one of several decoy professors came out of it (the stick figure thing). When you touch it, he appears on the screen and says "ありがとう・・・" (arigatō···, meaning "thank you..." with the ellipsis indicating that he said it in a rather insincere way). If you have rescued the real professor, these professors will attack you if you blow up the base where they hide. Read the game's Wikipedia article to see more.

  • music is scary too.

  • thats a really scary scientist

  • The vid could very easily be turned into a screamer...

    Nice find.

  • I guess X is now the first game to feature Totaka's Song. Yay! Nice job, man!

  • My best guess would be that the "Thank you" is to lure you into a false sense of security, and then he turns out to be a fake.

  • Wow, you found it; nice!

  • At this point in the game you're supposed to find a scientist, but here are aliens disguised as him. The scientist sticking his tounge out is one of the fake scientists.

  • I know that. I requested a translation for the X article at Wikipedia to be translated and I already read it. I made the translation request several days before the Smash Bros. Dojo revealed the arranged version of the first "X - Tunnel Scene" music.

  • I didn't get scared. "Albert Einstein" making that face is funny.

  • reminds og that picture where hes sticking his tongue out

  • Oh, and why does it say "Arigatou..."?

  • Thank you.

  • Yea I know what Arigatou means, but why does he say it?

  • I guess no one knows. It's just one of them video game mysteries. Like what if Rayman's hands floated away and in Paper Mario for the N64, Goombario's grandfather, Goompa said he was repairing the back porch with a hammer and some nails, but Goomba's lack hands and arms. Also, a Goomba is a playable character in Mario Kart Wii, which also makes people wonder how Goomba's operate machinery.

  • There is no Goomba playable in MK Wii.

I own the game and have every character.

  • Someone told me that Goomba is a playable character, but now you told me that's a lie.

  • Exactly.

  • I was scared to watch the rest cuz I thought it was gonna be a screamer -_-;

    That song before Totaka's Song just makes that guy's face scarier ^^;

  • That's what I thought too and I HATE screamers.

  • Wow, I'm really scared of the scientist's face. It seems like his head's gonna pop out and onto my lap. D:

  • The scientists face freaks me out. Well a lot of stuff does.

  • this is also called X isnt it?

  • It is called X, but I had to add "エックス" and Ekkusu to make it easier for people to search for it. If I just added "X", then there would be a lot of videos with the letter in their title, description and/or keywords in the search results.

  • Excellent find!

  • To think I was playing this game trying to find the song myself and I went right past it! I never found the decoy scientist, just the real one. Then again, it doesn't help that I don't know a lick of Japanese. ^_^; I got to the final level (Was it? It's the one where those giant robot things destroy everything and there's a force field blocking a satellite dish?) and gave up as I just couldn't figure out what to do. I like that face that briefs you on the missions though! Funny! :P

  • Whoea... well kinda uncalled for, you are playing and BAM getting startled by this scene. It gives the turned=off=screen=at=night phobia

  • Nice find my friend! :)

  • Great find, dude!

  • It's only creepy because of the music I guess to me it's just funny. reminds me of Gameboy camera

  • well thank you for clearing that up for me and also thank u for the nightmare im gonna have when i sleep..=_=

  • I don't think this decoy scientist is creepy at all.

  • Your crazy if you think not, I could go to sleep all night last night!

  • I agree

  • When did the song both begin and end? All of this is very confusing

  • 1:29-1:40

  • Nice job!!!!! Tell PhilBond!!!

  • I did.

  • He did.

  • OMG HE DID!!!!!

  • o_O;

I'd freak out if I were playing and suddenlly that face popped out for no reason...

  • that was creepy

  • Well I'll be...

  • It says "Arigatou".

  • Which means "Thank you" in Japanese.

  • you should comment on PhilBond's channel, so he knows, and he should make a vid out of it!

  • Wow, you found it. Great job!

  • That face is creepy...

  • You should tell the people running that database of appearances of Totaka's song.

  • Wow, this weird.
