@opuyu he actually plays a mean guitar too. so much so that BB king heard him one time and swore he was some old seasoned cat. wen he was told that de'angelo (who was 19 at the time) was playing he refused to believe it was him playing. de'angelo had to play in front of him to convince BB that it was in fact him(de'angelo) playing.
Sì ma avere una band di super jazzisti come questi e fargli suonare un pezzo così banale e ripetitivo è come avere una Ferrari e usarla per fare il giro del cortile...
yeah, thats dean brown. it's actually funny, that someone so good always stays in the background. dean kicks clapton's ass, but he doesn't even seem to play. that's what I call understatement
D'Angelo is the truth. He goes from funk, to soul, to jazz, to acid rock, to this. He has REAL talent and the desire to be appreciated for his music. This made me listen to Eric Clapton which I normally would not have done, but they all sound fantastic. Your folks in AZ love you. Can't wait till you start touring.

Steve Gadd will never play this song like Ginger Baker. Why should he? Ginger also was stoned nearly every time, and i guess Steve stopped consuming drugs.

Gadd has been playing with Clapton for years now...I'm sure they changed the feel at the end to give something the whole band to groove on. You have all these r&b players up there doing one of the most famous rock/power trio songs of all time..what are they gonna do? Just copy Cream's version note for note?

funny, that Clapton behaves there like a "guitar god" and a few feet behind him is ten times better player and musician - Dean Brown, haha. So ironic.
bluesyboy1, don't get mad at Clapton cause he gets more credit than the Jazz fusion session guitarist that you have a boner for (see Dean Brown) Clapton has a fairly accredited list of people/bands that he's played with Yardbirds, cream, Derek and the Dominoes, and he's been sucessful in the mainstream for 40yrs, not easy

Fact is,they were both humble and fantastic. I prefer Hendrix, but that's a matter of taste.Strictly in terms of musical and artistic contribution,Hendrix is superior. But what's bugging me is the low quality of artists today and how commercialism has taken over...As for the artists in this clip, old or new, love them all,D'Angelo is underrated...
i agree wit everything u said. i prefer hendrix then clapton, but both were and is the best to me, commercial is killing everything... thats why im trying to stay away from it and d'angelo is very underrated. u make great sense:)
yeah, every electric guitarist stole from hendrix, it's a given really... but GADD AND MARCUS, oh god why don't they play more?!!? screw sanborn and his crappy smooth jazz sound
The thing with sunshine of your love, is that the leadlines and solo must be played in D minor & D major mix style, that's the point with the hole song..
your a fool for that.every good guitarist has passed thru hendrix one point in their life..and being that hendrix died in 70, i'd say clapton cant be better than hendrix since hendrix influenced soo many people and showed a whole new style of musis...every1 knows hendrix is god...so get your facts dush
Clapton was a Guitar God in 1965. One of the reasons Hendrix moved to England was because of Clapton. Hendrix was a Clapton fan before Clapton even heard the name "Jimi Hendrix". Hendrix agreed to let Chas Chandler be his manager only if he could play with Eric Clapton at a Cream gig. It was after that that they inspired eachother mutually. But, Hendrix has cited Clapton as one of his influences.
Missing one thing: A Marcus Miller bass solo! That would've topped it off but that was unbelievably fantastic! So much power and passion!

funny, that Clapton behaves there like a "guitar god" and a few feet behind him is ten times better player and musician - Dean Brown, haha. So ironic.
bluesyboy1 4 years ago
bluesyboy1, don't get mad at Clapton cause he gets more credit than the Jazz fusion session guitarist that you have a boner for (see Dean Brown) Clapton has a fairly accredited list of people/bands that he's played with Yardbirds, cream, Derek and the Dominoes, and he's been sucessful in the mainstream for 40yrs, not easy

Holy crap! Steve Gadd on the drums to boot! I was wondering who was stepping in and making Ginger Baker's version look sad.

clapton seems nervous.
perhaps it's because he's surrounded by jazz greats and is afraid he's gonna get cut?

He play with them before... but this is Sanborn's show..

Hendrix came in London in the sixties to play with allready famous eric clapton
igormarich1968 4 years ago
Hendrix admitted that Clapton was a better guitarist than himself, just fyi.
Styxtshaw 4 years ago
when??? thats crazy!!! but hendrix was really humble... clapton is good tho
organizedblues 4 years ago
Fact is,they were both humble and fantastic. I prefer Hendrix, but that's a matter of taste.Strictly in terms of musical and artistic contribution,Hendrix is superior. But what's bugging me is the low quality of artists today and how commercialism has taken over...As for the artists in this clip, old or new, love them all,D'Angelo is underrated...
dixxjamm 4 years ago 2
i agree wit everything u said. i prefer hendrix then clapton, but both were and is the best to me, commercial is killing everything... thats why im trying to stay away from it and d'angelo is very underrated. u make great sense:)

Go out & buy Sanborn's "Another Hand" - anything BUT smooth Jazz.
MMMIguelito 4 years ago
"Another Hand" is a FANTASTIC album... but beware... If you're expecting the usual Sanbornisms, you'll be disappointed.
MMMIguelito 2 years ago
did anyone else notice that d'angelo is happy to see david sanborn and clapton but could less bought marcus
bassman0366 4 years ago
The thing with sunshine of your love, is that the leadlines and solo must be played in D minor & D major mix style, that's the point with the hole song..
Bigbluesboy 4 years ago
singing along with D'Angelo must be a pretty intimidating thing to do...Clapton pulled it off.
iposacanuca 4 years ago
hendrix could not hold a candle to clapton & this is NOT a hendrix song jerk
worm60 4 years ago
WTF you are kidding.....right?
vinnie7467 4 years ago
your a fool for that.every good guitarist has passed thru hendrix one point in their life..and being that hendrix died in 70, i'd say clapton cant be better than hendrix since hendrix influenced soo many people and showed a whole new style of musis...every1 knows hendrix is god...so get your facts dush
EmptyArms88 4 years ago
Clapton was a Guitar God in 1965. One of the reasons Hendrix moved to England was because of Clapton. Hendrix was a Clapton fan before Clapton even heard the name "Jimi Hendrix". Hendrix agreed to let Chas Chandler be his manager only if he could play with Eric Clapton at a Cream gig. It was after that that they inspired eachother mutually. But, Hendrix has cited Clapton as one of his influences.
