Here's some word on the game boy's audio setup for you guys; in fact, the game boy only had two channels available for sound effects and music. So in this case, there's only the bass and lead playing. For a better illustration of this, listen to the battle effects once your pokemon gets low on HP.

Of course, Pokemon Black and White calls the first route there "Route 1", and added some recolors like a recolor of Ponyta, they could've at least made new Pokemon ideas instead of taking old pokemon, recoloring them, and stealing the offical Route 1's name.
