after watching the movie several times, i noticed things i did not notice previously.
it is a good movie for those of you that haven't seen the show, but i have. and it is somewhat ok for a movie. Hollywood just changed a few things here and there(different kamehameha, no nimbus, lack of krillin in it,) but they got quite a lot right if you pay attention (they do fly, Roshi has a Swimsuit edition of a magazine at his house, goku has that appetite of his, yamcha is great in my opinion)

@johsy I haven't watched anything. I have read the manga. There was no character called Roshi in any of the 42 books. If he's supposed to be the guy with a turtle shell on his back, it's a bad translation. In my language, he's called Kame-Sennin, like in the original japanese. I don't get it why americans always have to translate anime names. They can't pronounce them or what?

Dragonball became famous because of the anime, that's what everybody watched and that's why the made a movie, which sucked. This movie was EXCELLENT! It was really true to the manga. Justin Chatwin nailed the Goku role. He acted just like Goku. He wets himself, loves Chi-Chi, gets bullied, and goes to high school. Great job, Chatwin. Master Roshi, Piccolo, and Bulma looked just like thier manga counterparts. The story was amazing and made perfect sense. Bulma fights just like in the manga. Goku is in school just like in the manga. Genius! This is the greatest movie ever created. It's even better than The Dark Knight!

Should have been much more tricks, I rhink. Goku was not a simple karate/kung fu fighter, he jumped higher than any man could, and his movements should have been much more quicker... @johsy I haven't watched anything. I have read the manga. There was no character called Roshi in any of the 42 books. If he's supposed to be the guy with a turtle shell on his back, it's a bad translation. In my language, he's called Kame-Sennin, like in the original japanese. I don't get it why americans always have to translate anime names. They can't pronounce them or what?

Dragonball became famous because of the anime, that's what everybody watched and that's why the made a movie, which sucked. So yes "Roshi" appears in the anime and he was old, that's what everybody expected him to be in the movie.

@johsy I did not know that Kame-Sennins name is translated in other languages as well. Sorry I blamed americans in particular, seems like most nations feel the same urge. What is the point, really? In the books, Goku is called Son-Goku, just as his son's name is Son-Gotten.
And I just can't figure out why Kame-Sennin isn't as old as he's supposed to. Does he even have a turtle shell?

And I really don't know why the names were translated in such way, but if I had to guess it was probably because it was for kids, and they wanted the names to be easy to remember. Hah losers. This film isn't getting a sequel. You know why? Fox didn't make their budget back. Nothing good came out of this movie. Fox has lost a couple of millions by making this film. Do you really think that they would make a sequel to this? And Fox also canceled the sequels for Hulk, Fantastic Four, and Daredevil. Those films were also bad but they were still a lot better than DBE in both box office and reviews. And they're all being rebooted. What makes u think this film won't be rebooted?

This movie was EXCELLENT! It was really true to the manga. Justin Chatwin nailed the Goku role. He acted just like Goku. He wets himself, loves Chi-Chi, gets bullied, and goes to high school. Great job, Chatwin. Master Roshi, Piccolo, and Bulma looked just like thier manga counterparts. The story was amazing and made perfect sense. Bulma fights just like in the manga. Goku is in school just like in the manga. Genius! This is the greatest movie ever created. It's even better than The Dark Knight!

Should have been much more tricks, I rhink. Goku was not a simple karate/kung fu fighter, he jumped higher than any man could, and his movements should have been much more quicker... The acting could have been better, I mean, they could make it similar to the cartoon, much more comedy. Else, this story is over...

This movie does look to have some redeeming qualities. some of the energy attacks don't look that bad and the capsule bike looks the same as the transformers graphics. however in the end the whole movie looks like an updated karote kid remake and not a real life dragonball movie.

Im so sick of people bitchin about the film like its made for the fans. Lets face it had this film been made just for fans it would suck because out of the general movie goers we make a small ass percent. i just finished watching Dragonball, it was a good fight scene, but i didnt like it. The fight was short, goku turned to a gorilla, but he wasn't big like the cartoon, and the dragon was not big. it finish so quick. u were right, it wasnt good. the fight was but the movie not good.
