  • Playstation. 1 graphics must of been harder to make for playstation 2 and 3 wonder what the graphics would look like on ps4 and x box 720.

  • Latest in computer tech.... Look at your Computer...

  • Like this comment if u thought it was ezio

  • Man i love this show :D

  • Lol 2006..

  • "Because computers can't process high resolution images fast enough" Bitch please lol -jk

  • Birds birds go away

  • 5:07 they used to do this now the just patch it tell it works..............

  • @seroyer2 Yeah, I'm really sick of the half baked game trend. Mind you, I love patches and all, but they should still try to get rid of the basic bugs before releasing the game to the public.

  • lol prince of persia

  • wy need this game maker so wy can make good games

  • is there mices in my headphoner or why do i hear sqwiigin

  • "can't process high resolution fast enough.." lol, oh 2006. how far we have come

  • @DragonSoulRaider Lol, you'd be surprised how "low res" your Call of Duty games are. :p

  • press 7 for dancing drunkie

  • Prince of Persia: Sands of Time baby...

  • 2:39 "The animators have to design every movement each character can potentially make.." Panties! perv...

  • This is really old and far from nowadays standards.

  • hey said: this allows them to use the lastest in game technology... lol they using two ice ages old machines

  • pop = prince of persia

  • i just clicked cuz i saw prince...

  • It's still amazing how they made those games with those old computers and how it has involved a lot in just a few years.

  • @OFFTHEWALLSMIKEYL4D now days they can produce high resolution graphics during gameplay. I love videogames lol

  • FAKE! THIS is how it all started: "It all begins with the people who form was called the porky"

  • I understand that this was from a long time ago, but isn't motion capture the use of a digital camera to capture sweet points on an actors body, a skeleton is then built from those joints, And I know that that kind of motion capture existed before 2003 because they used it in the origenal Lord of the rings, which I THINK was released in 2001...

  • @DKC1011 and on space jam in the 90s to animate bugs bunny playing basket ball :D

  • @MasSergioVEVO was it really? Thats interesting! thanks for telling me :D

  • @DKC1011 yeah something like that... i saw it in a magazine as a kid in blockbuster... they had men dress up in green shaq would interact with the dressed up person on a green studio green walls floors.. thats how he got into the "toon world" later in the movie and interacted with the cartoons.

  • and i thought my games i made look bad....

  • 3:19 ,solution to every hard situation on a pc. >:P

  • 3:46

12 years later: FUCK YEAH!! DIRECTX 11 BITCHEEEEZ!!!

  • there is prince of persia for win 95 hahaa

  • wow sands of time was cool

  • It's very hard to make a video game, that's for sure.

  • Wait, wait . . . didn't Al Gore invent video games?

  • This was posted in 2006 and this was probably made before 2006 probes 2003 because that's when prince of Persia sands of time came out

  • the scratch while drawing is soooo annoying

  • prince of persha the sands of time. awesome game

  • anong yan san yan nadodownload

  • certain games like halo, mass effect, and assasins creed dont use high resolution with scenes so that the story progression scenes look more natural like the game play....

  • y is the second comment more liked???????? WTF anyone else see this!!!

  • are there rats in my computer?! all i hear is squeaking!!!

  • wow this is fucking old as fuck.. lates technology? using windows 95? my ass!!! lol

  • @Dianarocks333 The latest technology back then.

  • @Rick132500 yeah, how old is this video anyways? i mean the official date this video was release

  • 2:37 xD

  • the upskirt on 2:38 the game designers have to look for errors in the mesh. Like lets say the female character falls over in the game, even the underwear has to be seen to make it more realistic. But she could go Aham Commando xD

  • 2:37 someone's a pervert.

  • Sands of Time. woot

  • 2:38

    :D

  • @SLICKR392 FAIL XD

  • How old was this documentary..10years?

  • prince of persia the sand of time =)

  • all I cared about was 4:39 - 4:54 ; I need MORE

  • rats inside my head phones

  • Prince Of Persia :)

  • video games are so freaking complicated do you know how hard it was to make zork!?

  • I remember playing the PS1 game "Driver" and when I was using it the traffic always used to drive through a wall. That really freaked me out for some reason.

  • I thought there were fucking bugs in my headset

  • what program they use ?!?! i really wanna make my own video game plz some1 help me !

  • @GamingDreamGuy If you want to make your own game for free on pc or mac, check out my tutorials ETeeskiTutorials with a program called unity.

  • @GamingDreamGuy you cant make a good video game by your self using only one program, sry dude

  • @HamsterLoad "Good" would be the subjective term. Quite a few single programmers developer apps for the iphone, etc which turn around and net millions of dollars in profits. Plants vs Zombies, for example, if I recall correctly, was made with just 2 developers. Never know which single developer is going to pump out the next multi-millon dollar app in a few weeks of development. But, it does happen more often than some people might think.

  • It's all about math, art, and science.

  • Lol they make it sound easy. Id love to be a game programmer, as im kind of bad at art.

  • prince of persia FTW !!

  • They're trying to control our minds with this squeaky sound!!!

  • fucking mouses

  • 2:38 ehh :)

  • 2:38 O:

  • @bonjourpantoufle HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA...a mortals software, the fools!!!!!!!

  • @bonjourpantoufle AHAHAHAHAHAHAH i have windows xp sevicve pack 3 and i disabled all those xp looks and it looks like windows 95/98 but my pc moves FASTER :) i hardly think software like that would work on windows 98 ..... so you ....

  • @bonjourpantoufle. i think those are special computers that only make video games. its like that at pixar.

  • Comment removed

  • if your trying to send subliminal messages with that squeaking, its working. You have subliminally made me pissed off at the noise.

  • 0:04 No, it was Space Command or something related.

  • This isn't accurate. Making videogames is more about getting jerked around by pushy idiotic clients.

  • which program they used?

  • @FaboMarek1 they make them them selves, using computer languages

  • 2:33 i love lasanga

  • more like how games are designed....

coding has a lot to do with it... lol

  • Holy shit. Those monitors must weigh 800 lbs.

  • 2:38 ; )

  • Lol, Come on counterego!

  • SQUEAKY!

  • what are they using for animation program

  • Prince of Persia.

  • what is the game?

  • What kind of Program are they using to make the Characters, would REALLY like to know...... PLEASE !!!!!

  • @FrozenExibel An ancient version of 3ds max.....its very expensive

id suggesst you start with a program called blender, its free. you can get it at blender.org

  • @CWScott24 Thank You ^^

  • @CWScott24 maya is better it's free for me

    i like student licences

  • @ArtChartable anyone who claims that maya is better than max or max is better than maya is a dumb ass. they are both tools, and i was under the impression his school does not have a program for 3d modeling or animation which is why i suggested blender, because he would be unable to get the student license.

  • @CWScott24 no actualy almost every school is registerd on autodesk so almost everybody can get a student license

  • 2:38

Thumbs up if you looked at least 2 times

  • thats interesting

  • Y u no buy camera and not use washing machine

  • the narrator has a weird slurred voice

  • prince of persia two thrones

  • @Rebirth0895 dude thats the first prince of persia sands of time

  • 2:36

  • which softwares?

    2:38

  • which softwares?

  • 2:36!!!

  • 2:37 lol

  • omg what that squeaky sound

  • @oliverstanly I thought that was just my laptop... Guess not

  • @oliverstanly its a damm mouse xD

  • @oliverstanly Is a rat into your computer! Oh my God!

  • this*

  • This is a copyright infringement. Thus video should be taken down.

  • 3:42 I`m glad we got over that shitty period of time when you were sad every time you saw a cinematic because it looked better than the game. Now everything looks awesome!

  • This is prince of persoa the sands of time. I have this game for my ps2

  • I'm going to Full Sail after my basics :]

  • That squeaky noise is an army of crickets.

  • What the f*** is the squeaky sound ?! Annoying!

  • @thecooldude61 squirrels in the trees

  • @thecooldude61 Its the mouse?

  • @thecooldude61 subliminal messages.

  • @thecooldude61 ur beign brainwashed!

  • i have played this game and its ok

  • omg this squeaky sound makes me go crazy

  • 5:29

"And hope it becomes a hit..."

It's about Prince of Persia. Who would say that's NOT a hit?

  • this is so easy

  • anyone wanna make a game with me

i have a really good idea

i just don't know how toprogram that much

    pm me if you're interested

  • 1. think of a cool idea for a game

    2. ????

    3. profit!!!

  • @taufiqsun southpark? :D

  • @taufiqsun Not that easy,unfortunately..

  • 4:48 fake.. programs NEVER use something like ''the". Languages always use the shortest and most logical ways to program. *ugh* Stupid langaunge *ugh*

  • @1kalekip1 P.S. never mind I forgot the edge char (#) is for comments. Stupid me, I fail. (but I am right :l)

  • @1kalekip1 You fail at coding, hes just labeling the code so he knows where certain bits are.

  • @NOTWSProductions I said that I fail, you don't need to say that again. lol

  • @1kalekip1 dude, you know knowthing about programming. //stop the music , is jut to tell the programmer what the code will do so she/he doesnt get confused,

  • Is there a video explaining the software, and what does the narrator mean by codes? And the video really wasn't descriptive. Im not trying to become a video- gamer editor or something.

  • Is that "The sands of time?"

  • Thumbs up if you did 2:37 in the game somehow :D

  • Comment removed

  • this male body at 3:30 is incredible, really, i know a bit what i'm talking about and it's really astounding.

  • great i watched the whole thing now i must learn scripting

  • @dbzandshrek100 *takes off glasses*

    challenge excepted!!!!!

  • Low poly forever!

  • Game Boy, high tech graphics LOL

  • whats the programs do they use ????

  • @XD87337 3ds max for the levels, rough character design and animation.... then they probably used Zbrush to sculpt the characters realistically, then import them back into 3ds max. If you have any more questions I am sure I can help you out.

  • What's that in the background

  • Epic but stillT_T Subminall Messages, if u listen closely u will hear some squriell wild voices on the background that is a fast secret subminall message

  • "computer programmers create the game's menu settings" ... !!! oh dear lord! i'm speechless! what a shitty documentary! the game is basically made by the programmers! what artists and designers create at most can be an animation or a pretty story or comic book! and the code is a lot more than "thousands of lines"! I remember John Carmack was talking about MILLIONS OF LINES in QuakeCon 2011!

it's frustrating to see that ALWAYS artists and designers get the credit for video games!!! it's not fair!

  • @MrHystable

    lol

Programmers are so full of themselves. It takes both, artistic vision (and ability) and good coders to make a decent game. Programmers without good artists, animators and designers create boring, uninteresting text based (or sprite based if they're lucky) games. Yes, programming takes skill. So does good design. And excellent designers have at least a fundamental understanding of what coders do and how to work within their coder's ability.

  • @SinTacksAir I said designers and artists at best can make pretty animations; I didn't say they aren't good in what they do. and yes, programmers and software engineers are well educated people with scientific and engineering thinking and reasoning skills, they should be proud, what's the shame in that?!

I said whenever you see a "behind the scenes" of a video game dev team, almost all they show are artists and designers. Engineers are barely given the credit they deserve! That's all I'm saying!

  • @SinTacksAir btw in a real game dev team artists and designers shouldn't be worried about the abilities of "coders"! They just need to be in tune with the lead engineers/programmers (what you people call "coder"!); individual abilities of programmers doesn't and shouldn't concern artists; lead engineers drive the engineering/programming team. and just to remind you this, artists mainly work for the designers, so don't get too cocky if you're an artist ;)

  • @MrHystable

Every good game; every HIT game- starts with an idea, a style and an artistic vision. That's not to say programmers don't have HUGELY critical roles to play. That's just to say; as an artist (which are frequently TD/Designers) or it's their JOB to think the unlikely, imagine the impossible and yes BE cocky. It's a coder's job pull in the reigns when they get too fantastical. It's a fine line, especially during the conceptual stages. So if you're a programmer, keep an open mind. ;)

  • @SinTacksAir you are confused about the role of an artist and a designer; basically everyone on the dev team are working on the game designer(s) ideas. Designers give the artists and programmers the general ideas and direct them to eventually get to they (designers) have in mind. So basically artists and those people you call "coder" are just executing what the designers asked them...

  • @SinTacksAir ... If you're talking about lead designer, lead programmer/engineer, lead artist. etc, then it is another story which doesnt fit your comments! a "coder" -might be- any self-taught hobbyist programmer with no formal education OR with no deep understanding of the technology. You are seeing everybody on the technical side as a "coder"! this is ridiculous and shows how much you understand about computers and software!!

  • @MrHystable

I work with plenty of programmers. I'm friends with many more. Many of them refer to themselves as "coders". It's just a friendly industry term. Don't get so hung up semantics. You're seriously far behind the times with your knowledge my friend. MOST (if not ALL) modern technical artists are pretty dynamic these days. No, they won't be coding any new renderers, but most wouldn't run in fear of seeing shader scripts or raytracing algorithms. You really should catch yourself up.

  • @SinTacksAir you didnt read my first comment carefully and you just replied about programmers being "full of themselves"!! I said, whenever you see a behind the scenes documentary, programmers and engineers are never mentioned! and I said, if you take out the programmers and engineers from the dev team, the one and only thing that team can do, is to build a pretty animation or a nice comic book or something like that ! I didnt say artists and designers are lower than programmers/engineers!!

  • @SinTacksAir I would really LOVE to sit aside and watch an artist (or even an army of artists!) try to work on implementing (for example) a simple shadow rendering algorithm!

    -usually- a programmer/engineer can't do an artist's job, and -usually- an artist can't do what a programmer/engineer does !

The thing is, when you are talking about "how video games are built" you cant and you shouldnt exclude the programmers and engineers because you are not talking about Pixar making an animation!

  • BTW, never once did I EXCLUDE programmers and engineers (if you recall, I mentioned that they a critical element). That's it they are part of a machine. And I know, I KNOW you all LOATHE hearing this, but as programmers, the world of MODERN game design doesn't revolve around you. It simply REQUIRES you. If it did revolve around you, we'd all be playing MUDs and shitty sprite based platformers. Don't get me wrong, they have their appeal, but let's face it, games have evolved thanks to THE ARTIST

  • @SinTacksAir you are living in your own little world i cant help you :)

  • @MrHystable

Wow man. You seem to want to find fault in everything I say and make mountains out of molehills here. My only point is that many coders (LIKE YOU) seem to think that they have the market cornered on technical ability, when the reality is, most art-tech schools have multi-faceted curriculums. This attitude of yours is OLD SCHOOL. I'm an artist and I can write sorting algorithms for multi dimensional arrays with the best of them. I just HATE it. It's mind numbingly boring to me.

  • @SinTacksAir btw, the same thing can be said about artists! game industry REQUIRES artists... because a good game (or a bad game!) basically is an idea. artists are REQUIRED by the industry in the same way that programmers are required. And no, I dont agree! Games have evolved thanks to engineers who MADE IT POSSIBLE for artists to create better graphics! hmmm let me ask you this... should I thank John Carmack for MegaTexture or BSP or "the artist"?!! yeah right :)

  • @SinTacksAir I think this one is also a good example... even in early 1990s as an artist you could easily create high-poly models... the question is, could you render it in real-time with above 30fps?! and this is what I have said here since my first comment, artist without engineers can build pretty animations, no questions about it! but games? no, no way :) what you have in video games is real-time rendering... and it has nothing to do with artists; it is completely technical!

  • @MrHystable

You keep falling back on this premise that "the engine makes the game" therefore: "the designers of the engine = designers of the game". That's like giving a construction foreman all the credit for building an architectural masterpiece. New engines bring new frill. Things like subsurface scattering, ambient occlusion or higher bounce rates for raytracing make for fun effects, but the novelty of those things wear off quickly. In the end, it's all about gameplay and art style.

  • @SinTacksAir I said games are ideas and these ideas come from "game designers". You are confused about who is a game designer and who is an artist! that's your problem!

You just keep what you saying, I cant change your opinion and I dont want to, simply I'm not interested! you are making false statements and your comments lack logic! you just keep jumping from this topic to another topic without directly answering me! I'm done :) let's finish this here, it's useless :)

  • @MrHystable

That's the first thing you've said that hasn't been jammed packed full of emotion and aggrandizement. I'm pretty content with my job as an artist, and where I work, there's a genuine appreciation for both sides of the house FROM both sides of the house. You don't seem to realize that any game design project is a team effort requiring input from everyone. It's not just some "engineers" that come up with some grand idea and implement it straight away.

  • @MrHystable

  • @SinTacksAir you never fail at misunderstanding my comments! may be that's because of my bad English, I'm not sure. reread my first comment. I said programmers are never given the credit in "behind the scenes" documentaries. I've never said artists are less than programmers. actually it was you who claimed artists are above others! remember that "games revolve around artists" comment?!

and my view has not changed, dont get me wrong... I still think most of your comments are wrong :)

  • @MrHystable

Ok. Well perhaps your "bad English" is causing the miscommunication. In Western English, we generally consider it to be in poor taste to use quotes when in fact you're paraphrasing or (incorrectly) inferring. No I don't remember the "games revolve around artists" comment. Know why? I didn't make it. I simply said games do not revolve around programmers. I know that pangs your ego to hear (if you're a coder) but it's a reality of modern design.

  • @SinTacksAir " If it did revolve around you, we'd all be playing MUDs and shitty sprite based platformers" !! you should really, I mean REALLY, take a look at SIGGRAPH's archive from 1970s until now... then let me know the whole CG field revolve around whom!

you are just USING what engineers build, you are a user. you are an artist that's perfect, and you are a user, that's also perfect. but you should really have a talk about this with your "coder" friends! you are way too cocky ! grow up!

  • @SinTacksAir well I hope now you get what I mean! if you dont, then I cant help you !

  • @MrHystable being a programmer, i agree with you. don't forget producers who also get alot of credits, even though alot of them don't even have programming or engineering backgrounds

  • @VanMedia thanks :) all I'm saying is that the engineers and programmers should also get the credit they deserve. As you can see from that little discussion I had here, artists (or more precisely people who pretend to be artists) think otherwise!! at the end of the day the important thing is that we as engineers are paid way more than artists! well, that's a fair trade I think :) they get the credit and we get the money :)
