@economistery you know...I have a home in Priego and that is unfortunately where all my flamenco CD's are. Too bad I find myself in the Big Apple at the moment. But I was certain I knew this song from somewhere and a quick browse on Amazon and listenings to some of my favorite guitarists there came up with a winner. The guitarist is Tomatito, the piece is Callejón de las Canteras and it is from the album Barrio Negro.
@padreyanqui I too have a home in Priego and Juan at the flamenco pena told me a few years ago that there was an Americano living in the Villa who was a pretty good flamenco guitarist. Well, last friday I questioned Juan senior on whether the americano was still around and he told me that he was back in america now and was selling his home in the Villa. Surely this ca'nt be you, if it is that's totally freaky!
@economistery I am indeed the americano Juan spoke of. Give him my regards. He told me once that in life there are no friends, only acquaintances. Funny, I consider Sr. Bermudez a very dear friend of mine. Fact is Priego has a number of authentically good people. Back to the music, I am certain it is Tomatito. I played a number of falsettas from this tarantas when I played. One would naturally think a video on a pueblo in Córdoba might have music of a cordobés hence my thinking it'd be Vincente.
Does anyone have any idea who this amazing guitarist is?
