what kind of engine does thos run on

The author coded an engine from scratch I believe. The development kit is available with the game itself IIRC, so any fan looking to brush up his or her coding skills could take it further. The engine might be coded in C++ but I could be mistaken.

The author recommends a Pentium III/1Gigahertz processor for your PC. I'm running fairly well on the lower display settings with an AMD Sempron Processor though. It was slower than I-don't-know-what when I first loaded it, but unchecking all the display options pretty much fixed things in my case.
Interestingly, I think this was actually made to run on the XBOX360 from what I understand, but since I don't have one I'm not sure how that would work.
