  • @smudge6699 That's not true. My family and my relatives still practice Daoism.

  • Can anyone translate this for me?

  • Wonderful! I want to practice Taoism!

    How could I do that?

Please, if you are Taoist priest send me some practice for beginners!

  • 1000 years ago, taoism reached the highest peak in Tang and Song Dynasty, nearly every Chinese is taoist at that time. However, mongolia and manchurian destroyed taoism then, because this religon belong to Han Chiese.

As the result, many Chinese have no religon now.

  • WoW very interesting! I never knew that. My people practice Taoism. We are known as the Yao people or the Mien people in China, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand. Yeah, you're right, most other chinese people don't practice this Taoist anymore, mainly my people carries on this practice to generations after generations.

  • Actually, the Chinese governement is encouraging the practice of Daoism, that's why Daoism is having a modest revival today. The governement has recognised Daoism, Buddhism, Confucianism and Islam as the four religions that represent Chinese identity.

  • in which province did this take place?

  • I'm not 100 % certain but I think it's an incense offering chant called zhu xiang shen zhou.

  • The acolites are reciting scriptures, but not from the Daoist classics. For reference and background I would like to refer to: "the Taoist Body" by Prof. K. Schipper.

  • its a mantra from the writings of Lao tze

  • perhaps reading from the Temple's scripture

  • what are they saying in this pray?
