I never knew you could use the water tool to blend such fantastic results, which I guess is the reason I love watching speed drawings, you learn so much from them. thanks for the tutorial! it gave me a lot of insight on my much needed improvement of my coloring!
hahaha.. I myself had a phase for overdoing things with the water tool during my first times with SAI, and got a rude wake up call when I switch to Photoshop and finally realizing that I indeed depending much on this tool. I think maybe many people have the same experience.. ^^

this is trivial, but what brush do you use to lay down the colors initially? and all the blending is done with water?
the brush, I just used the (simple circle) and spread brush. I plan to use and experience more different brushes later. And yes, all the blending were done with water tools.
