KEEP ON, MY DEAR LITTLE BIG BROTHER, I WILL "SUSTAIN" YOU TO BRING UP THE "EMERGENCY" (INSTEAD OF THE "IMPOSING") OF A FREE-MINDED PHILOSOPHICO-SCIENTIFIC PARADIGM OF EXISTING AS INDIVIDUAL AND SINGULAR BEINGS. IN SHORT... WAW!
PS: I didn't use translation softwares to express my french-spoken mind.
@LatestUFOSightings Your such a dweeb dude, genetics cant be personally modified, grow a pair, and stop living in your mommas basement and criticizing the worthy you worthless being.
I think we should automate the monotonous work.. And the extremely difficult stuff. and the dangerous stuff. It's likely that the rich (corporations) will benefit from the automation, they already do; who else can afford capital expanse of an automated factory. And the working class will get shafted. It could be fine if we retool our expectations; like, why not be an artist or musician or philosopher; in the future, maybe those will be well compensated areas? I am betting my career on robots
I fully agree. I can't wait to read the book, the ideas sound like the stuff I've been thinking about for a while now. I used to be an IT consultant, but I'm now broke.. And it's virtually impossible to find a job for my skills, in the area I live.
It's pretty obvious to people who consider where society is going.. But the sad thing is that most politicians, and the upper classes, are ignoring this issue entirely.
To avoid collapse, and millions starving, we need a socialism-like system.. =/
@DaTruthsHere Don't hate the robots. That's like hating technological progress. Robots aren't some evil race of beings trying to destroy you. And it's unlikely that will ever happen..
It's simply impossible to stop the progress, automation WILL take the vast majority of jobs away. I know, I lost my job. =P
Blame corporations, blame the government, and how our society/economy works.
This world needs a BIG change! We have the power to provide everyone, with everything they need.
@NikoKun Don't misunderstand me, I LOVE technological process, technological progress can be synonymous with parts of humanity's evolution in my perception, but... I hate robots.
This book could turn out to be very important. It's not just about technology. It's about increasing efficiency in general. People must learn how to be happy without jobs and rampant consumption.
I have no job but instead of complaining about it I am trying to embrace technocracy. I'm building an auto tracking solar oven, look:/watch?v=BAWLjqMiulo
I think we should embrace technocracy completely and abolish money entirely! If all the farms, industry, shops are all totally automated we don't need shelf stackers, farmers, workers any more, robots that repair other robots. We should just build enough robots so nobody EVER has to work EVER again and we get robots to house EVERYONE
indeed, I've been thinking about this very same logical conclusion for a while, "what exactly will humans be doing for work in the near future when everything is automated and electronic?"
its funny how scientist used to say in the beginning of the 20th century that humans would have to work less and less through the century... they knew technology would eventually help us and replace us... But look what we actually have today. People are working more! i have some friends they even work on weekends just to produce as fast as they can a stupid commercial for whatever fucking corporation! greets from Brasil
Reference history -- people throwing their wooden shoes (sabots) into the new machines during early days of the industrial revolution. Terrible adjustments during transition but much improved life in long term. Look at many of Isaac Asimov's books about robots, especially contrast between Earth (robots banned) and the Solarian League.
Interesting position, and one I am starting to embrace too. I wonder, what is your take on human creativity? I do find it incredible how someone can synthesis an idea in their minds that turns out to work in real life. However, I don't think it will be long before creativity will be mimicked by technology. I suppose the real issue then is whether the products of those designs would appeal to humans. Your thoughts?
@federicopistono With the boom of metaprogramming (more specifically self altering code), AI will invariably find creativity amidst its processes. I think Ray Kurzweil is right about his predictions.
Dude, if you are so smart, get a jaw implant and maybe people will take you seriously.

@LatestUFOSightings Ad Hominem fallacy, very common...
If other people don't take him seriously because of his image and age is their problem. You should follow human inteligence not human stupidity.

@msugda I'm exploring it on the book a little bit. It's a bit more to the future though, maybe I'll write a blog post about it.
