  • It's a shame so much of Konisburg was wrecked by the Russian, even today there are vast area's with either nothing or ruins in them. The majority of the buildings seen here are facsimiles of the originals, while they look similar they are vastly different.Unlike some cities that were spared Russian occupation, which faithfully rebuilt their destroyed building to be indistinguishable from the originals.

  • mooi gemaakt daar zag het in de Duitse tijden toch veel beter uit dan nu onder Russische zeggenschap.

  • Nice video, though hellish, pretentious "music."

  • Hopefully it will be independent from Russia one day

  • Thanks for yet another interesting video from you. I'm surprised to see how much actually has survived till today

  • Johann Lißewski, my grandfather, was born near Koenigsberg. During the first world war, my father was sent to a farm nearby owned by his Johann's brother. It save his life from childhood stavation. I have a picture of his uncle, with his grandchildren from 1938. Where are they. What were their names? Did they live after World War II? No one knows.

  • When the Russians decide to tear up art and history... They don't take half measures.

  • GREAT VIDEO!! I went once to Kaliningrad and is nothing to see so sad.xx

  • @wernernon78 I know soviets destroyed all

  • @tommi59tk British aircraft destroyed Kaliningrad, a Russian town got completely broken

  • @1975USSR many buildings was only damaged easy to rebuild but it did not happen were destroyed because was german(moskwa decision) and that is why city looks like only shadow of old konigsberg

  • @tommi59tk 80% of the city was destroyed by British air force, do not blame Russia for what the city is destroyed, it is not our merit.

  • @1975USSR I do not deny but anyway you will try to get independence form russia for better future these people living there

  • @tommi59tk Why independence from Russia? Do you think it would be better? Who might benefit from this?

  • @1975USSR of course better for kaliningrad oblast, but not benefit for main russia. moskwa only blocks your development

  • Wow! This was a great idea to show how contemporary places in Kaliningrad are so closely related to old Konigsberg. I am very fond of Konigsberg/Kaliningrad. I hope you can make more videos like this.

.....but, great Video!

  • @koelschwolf

Old maps show that centuries ago, Konigsberg was the capital of Prussia (which you called "eastern Prussia"), and Berlin was the capital of Brandenberg, and the 2 regions were independent of each other (they were united later). The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth included the area along the Baltic between the 2 states, near Danzig.

Following WWI, the Allies re-established this ancient "Polish corridor" near Danzig to give the new Polish state access to the sea.

  • @koelschwolf

hello. i'll try. After Germany's defeat in World War I, under the pressure of winning countries (the U.S., France, United Kingdom), Germany was forced to cede some of its territories in the lower reaches of the river Vistula, plus 71-mile segment of the Baltic Sea to Poland, which thus has access to the Baltic sea and therefore isolated (at least in the land) the territory of East Prussia.

    You are welcome!

  • @Shumastrik

no offence... but that Polish corridor was returned to Poland after 123 years of making Poland disappeared from the World maps !! that Territory should never have been part of any German State. If it comes to Prussia, There is only one Prussia, and it's EASTERN side. where original Prussian ppl. used to live. had their own Language and couture !

  • Ohne worte....

    Einfach genial !!!

    Pillauer Grüsse
