In the interviews he made during filming, some of his words sounded more European than American to me. :) I I suppose his role & environment influenced his speech at the time.

I'm also reputed as having an incredible ability to stare. Most people get creeped out when my eyes start watering and tears stream down my face and I still don't blink. I'm making it a goal of mine to have a staring contest with Elijah.

Concerning Elijah, before I watched the extra clips in the extended version, I always thought that his unwinking stare was due to camera cuts, etc. It amazed me to learn that he simply has the ability to do it, even in the intense environment of filming.
