  • my dog is about 2 moths old and he waits till we are asleep and craps the floor. we are taking him out more than several times daily. he also constantly licks the ground. is the help for this?

  • I watched a video, that said not to teach your dog to ring a bell when it needs to go to the toilet, because when it is older and doesn't need to go to the toilet as much, it will still ring the bell because it means that somebody will come and take it outside. I seem to be stuck in the middle now to whether it's a good idea or not. PLEASE respond as soon a possible.

  • @snuffles8989 Thanks for your question. You can always take the bell off the door once your dog is housetrained. Good luck!

She is crated at night and while Im at work (9hrs) and each morning/day I go to let her out she has done her business. Can a toy breed hold it 9 hours. Im very frustrated, I dont want to have to clean a dirty cage every morning and every evening, but she is a rescue and I would like to work with her before giving her up (which is where it looks like it headed) PLEASE HELP! Thx

  • Good video. Good guy. I saw most of Eric's videos and I find them to be very helpfull. Thank you Eric.

PROBLEM HERE : I am trying to house train my 9 week old pup. This is turning to be a very un-pleasant experience. I need help ! What I mean by house training is that my goal is to have my dog do his thing in ONE specific area in the house, with those pee-pee pads. I have even tried "Hunter's Pet trainer spray". No luck here. HELP is very much welcome. Thanks.

  • @alofano PLEASE HELP ME, ... ANYBODY ?

  • @alofano My experience with those pads has been unfavorable. My dogs would always just shred them. Ive had 3 dogs and was never successful with using them!

  • good job !!!

  • Aloha and thanks for the great video. So, I just adopted a really sweet Whippet from the humane society. He is fun and nice but... I walk and walk and he will NOT use the outdoors. As a matter of fact I noticed that when we get close to home he starts pulling to get home, once at home if I turn he will go right there in the house. Why would he not use the outdoors and just wait until we get back home?? I am about to go crrrrazzzy. Does anyone have any tips?

  • so the dog pees on the spot that was pee, but is now ammonia???

  • How do I teach my dog to ring a bell when he has to go??? I want to get a puppy soon and i want to know how to teach him to go to the bathroom outside properly.

  • sounds usefull will try

  • So when they go in the house you make a loud verbal sound and take them out?

  • wen my dog messes up in the house, i jus push his nose into it and then take him out... my friend suggested i do that cuz thats how he trained his pup wich is perfectly fine

  • hey eric i have one question. how can i teach my dog to touch the bell when it needs to go pee or poo outside? can you reply ASAP plz or make a video? thx

  • @KNCunsafesolid

    watch?v=95U3JHv6pzE

  • Excellent video. My dog is no longer a puppy and due to past training mistakes, he is afraid to go in front of us, as you mentioned. He doesn't like to be watched and won't pee/poo in public. How do I correct this now?

  • cool one question how to do you train ure dog to give u a sign or ring the little bell when they got to go?

  • Put a bell on your door to the outside, and take them to it before you take them out. Take their paw at ding the bell as your taking them outside. They will learn to associate the sound with going out. (make sure its low enough for them to reach)

  • Brilliant tips on house training Eric! You cleared every doubt about house training that was on my head with this video!

  • THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH ERIC my cocker spaniel is now house trained thanks to u

  • Thanks Eric!!!

  • Wonderful advice..used it for my puppy and IT WORKED!!!!!

  • I have a chi and I love him and everything but this seems to be the hardest thing for him to understand and I pass frustrated. I bought him pads to go on and he urinates on them faithfully! but he will not poop on it. I talk to the vet about this and I was told that it was normal and they might not in the same place. Well, he needs to go in the same place. We are renting and he cant continue to go just anywhere on the carpet he pleases.

  • Eric, I thought you said that you shouldn't use the term "Hurry Up" because it's associated with daily life? "Hurry up, you're going to miss the bus!" and etc?

  • Thanks for all the great tips. I am getting an Australian Cattle dog this Saturday and your videos are very helpful. I appreciate it. I noticed at the end of one of you videos you gave a number to call and it was the same area code as mine and then just read you were from Massachusetts. I live on Cape Cod (Marstons Mills), are you close by?

  • I have a Kelpie, which is used as a cattle dog in Australia - Where i live.

  • Great tips! 5 Stars

  • You made lots of great points, but how would you train your dog to ring a bell to let you know it has to go to the bathroom?

  • Thank you so much for the video. I was doing a lot of what you said, but I think I'll try a different cleaner. Gotta find out if Fantastik has ammonia in it. I have to admit, I'm getting really frustrated. I can't remember my first dog being this hard. I'm starting to feel like she's stupid. And I don't want to feel that way. She's great in her crate, goes outside, but also goes inside.

  • This all sounds good I have tried all this, but this 5 month old Chug just dont understand, for one my boy friend has already scared her with her potting on the rug,,we have paper out but she wont use it, I take her out with my other 1 year old Pom about every hour or two she will go outside but still do it in the house..

  • i had the same problem with my beagle and then my vet said I was overthinking it. All the dog needs to do is do he business outside for about a week and then they will wait to go outside, because thats where he goes. Whatever it takes just make sure he goes outside. He cannot be allowed to be free in the house behaving like that. 30 minutes of play with you 2 hours in the kennel, outside. Then repeat. Seems cruel but after a week it will potty train your dog. Creatures of habit.

  • How do you train him to give you a cue to let you know he needs to "get busy"?

  • For the first week or so, bring you dog out a few times a day or whenever you see that they're sniffing around in the house. Sniffing around and cirlcing are cues that they need to go. While they are doing that outside, say your key-word. I use "go pee" or "go potty". Stop saying it when they do it and then when they're done, reward lol. Look at Eric's different vids. He's explained this before.

  • Hi im going to buy a dog i really NEED TO NO HOW TO NO IF HE IS HURT WILL HE MAKE A NOISE ? OR SOMETHING CAN U PLZZ TELL ME HOW WILL I NO IF THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH HIM

  • My dog is 2 years this month, he was fine and housebroken when we got him a month ago. Recently he has been going on the floor out of nowhere. So I tried the part you said about telling them to get busy, and stuff like that, and he hasnt had an accident yet. Thanks so much

  • Excellent! Thanks for sharing.

    All the best,

    Eric

  • Eric - We just got a beautiful, housetrained german shepherd/lab mix - rescued from the pound. She is house trained, but we want her to only "get busy" in our yard in a pen that is about 40 square feet of space. Our yard is all cement, so the floor of the pen floor is basically cement covered with kitty litter. As a mature dog, it seems that she can hold it forever, so waiting for her to go in a chose spot may take several hours. Any advice?

  • So when your dog messes in the house, it aint proper or necessary to make them smell it and scold them...or maybe even give them a few wake-up pats on the butt???

  • i think i need your help, you should really make a video, how to potty train your dog. i think thats the most difficult part, is it?

  • I am having difficulty housetraining my 7 month old Border Collie. Have had her since she was 11 weeks. I have never experienced such a tough dog to housebreak. My last BC girl was houstrained at 4 months and my male took one week.

This pup just doesn't get it. How do I teach her to cue me to take her out?

  • 7 great steps' im refering this to my cousin' she is having problems w/ her pup'

  • Great Video! Thx for the advice! 5 stars
