Children here cost more because we have to send them to school, buy them nice clothes, feed them three times a day, buy them toys, etc... in many other places in the world, those are all secondary things. Change is very slow in countries with no roads, no schools and corruption/lawlessness. This problems amplified by the lack of social change. You shouldn't blame the US for all their problems. It's like blaming Ethopia for not getting rid of famines and it's own lawlessness.

This just goes to show that the U.S. needs to send more troops to Afghanistan along with a modest increase in aid so that families can feed themselves in the winter and give them more resources through the government so that Afghans don't feel that they have to go through the Taliban in order to get problems that they can't solve on their own solved because as long as Afghans see the Taliban as an organization/army that they can rely on & the government as unreliable the US can't win.

In some places it is more profitable to have more children. Children here cost more because we have to send them to school, buy them nice clothes, feed them three times a day, buy them toys, etc... in many other places in the world, those are all secondary things. Put them to work as soon as they can - whether it be a paying job or just chores and whatnot, and they quickly pay off their costs and then some. Also, the deathrate is high, so more children is necessary to continue the bloodline.
