Now are the 47,000 people you lied about DisGrayson........magically not dieing now? By the way .......can you come up with one single death certificate that says........Cause of Death.....No Insurance?............May you burn in hell for hating your country the way you do!
Do the weak minded liberal pukes........that believed that shit........realize how full of shit you are Mr. Dis-Grayson?
We need more Alan Graysons--He tells it the way all Americans including the conservatuves wish they could tell it. If their hearts were in the right place they could probably do the same for sure.
can America afford the constant price jacking by insurance companies how are just damned middlemen? How about those with no or little money - can they afford health problems? No, the cost for this is worth it. The tab can be figured out between the taxpayer, the hospital, the employers, and the government. If other countries can do this and not suffer, so can we.
The bill forces people to buy healthcare and if they do not they will be taxed extra, also if you don't buy the governments healthcare and you decide to buy a private plan then you will be taxed for doing THAT! How is this freedom? The government is going to force people who already cannot afford healthcare to buy healthcare. Sure the healthcare system is broken but this is not the fix. How about we let insurance company's compete across the country instead of just in the states.

I also find it humorious that such big shills for the government now that it's a President you are blind shills for happily embrace its intervention in everyday lives of average Americans.
I'm sure a hypocrite like YOU were probably thinking of leaving the USA if McCain were elected with Sarah Palin as his VP.
My people were here before Columbus thought about coming here and committing genocide and stealing. I don't have to leave - Hypocrite? Palin is one stupid whore
If I stated that about Hillary or Madaline Albright, I'd be labeled an obvious sexist. But since it's okay that you say it about Palin, it makes it right, right?
Well Hillary and Madaline Albright were never ever stupid and not whores. They did not have to get married nor did they have to wink or run around in swimsuits to get noticed. And they were smart enough not to talk about things they didn't know. And they have something palin the bitch will never ever have - morals.
So justifying sexist comments against Palin is okay? That's okay? You Leftists are so hypocritical to suggest how you are for women's rights, but only if they happen to be Democrats like Hillary and Albright.
You're a hypocrite on prefering to trust the gov for health care, when you claim it's the same gov that committed genocide against the Native Americans.
So now Hillary's Mother Theresa even though during her career as a lawyer she decided to help out the National Lawyers Guild to defend Black Panther terrorists?
When was the last time Sarah Palin did something like that?
You Lefties like promoting sexist comments against Sarah Palin? I wish the GOP had the guts to do the same to every women idiots like YOU support.
I'm tired of those women getting a different treatment. You want a War of Sexism? Maybe we'll see how it'll be appropriate when people start calling all the women YOU embrace "stupid" on the level on how Sarah's being treated.
I WANT that to happen to so how stupid you people really are.
She's figured out that she can say whatever she pleases, lie freely, quit elected office to become a professional Facebook bomb-thrower, cash in on a ridiculous book she didn't even write, and still enjoy the adoration of her conservative fan base, as well as the attentions of the mainstream press
Blah, blah, you're "selfish" if you don't want free health care. I want a free top of the line Pentium 4 computer. Will Alan Grayson please give me one?
I mean, he's already giving everyone "free" health care.
You and your terrorist family think so - you came over to this country and stole the land killed the Native Americans - your treaties were worthless because you lie and you won't even take care of your own family - you think you should get everything free but no one else should have anything. This is a democracy - at least that is what is supposed to be but white people do nothing but lie and invade other countries and kill
@PepsiPope Are you saying you dont support healthcare for all Americans? Thats pretty damn selfish bud. What if you were sick and couldnt afford care? You'd be singing a much different tune.
I love those who speak of a bill which would help almost every american as if it was an evil. Grayson illuminated the key areas where the Republicans are masterful. The fearmongering and the continued lies distributed to the general public. The public option will cut the defecit and impose actual competition on the corporate sector which has plagued this nation for so long. Is it a crime to spread the 95% of the wealth which the 1% control? Are we a democracy or a plutonomy?
Will I be forced to give money to the sick private health insurance industry? Even after they have caused so many people to die and suffer? If that's the case, I don't want anything to do with their payday. I'd rather go to jail.
i like alan greyson, i like that he isn't afraid to stand up for what he beleives. but i dont like that he constantly plays the devisive card, even when it isnt neccessary.
Don't get me wrong, I really like Alan Grayson. I see eye to eye with him on 95 percent of the issues the country faces, but I cannot be sold on standardized healthcare reform.
I and everybody all know that anything the federal governement touches goes to hell. And we're going to hand over 1/6 of our nations economy to the federal government?
So that the government can dictate how I control my own health?
So that the government can take more out my paycheck then they already take?
Hey when was the last time you read the constitution of this country?
It is unconstitutional to tax the american people for something unavoidable! Which means yes, the federal income tax is unconstitutional. Which means yes, taxes on our wages is unconstitutional. And also that means YES, a forced tax to fund standardized healthcare reform is unconstitutional!
Canada is not the United States, we have a constitution for a reason!
Alan I have always liked you ever since I saw a video questioning Ben Bernake about the Fed. But I do not agree with you on this bill.
This bill brings our country half way to socialism.
How can you possibly tell people that they have to have healthcare or they have to pay a fine.
How can you tax us healthy people that don't take Big Pharma drugs and get sick, to take care of the ones that eat McDonalds and wonder why they got cancer or other illnesses?
Rasmussen is very accurate in some respects, but their opinion poll results are almost invariably more conservative than every other major pollster. I'd call that skewed.
That's quite a bizarre basis for your statement. You should know that out of their samples, 37% of people polled identified themselves as Democrats, as opposed to 32% Republican, and 31% not affiliated.
Thanks for your contribution Mr. Grayson. Thanks for sticking up for the defenseless and the suffrage..I am with you in this fight. I'm strong, healthy & confident. I have no need to oppress people, I can stick up for people who can't stick up for themselves. That is what being an honorable-strong man is about....It is easy to sell your soul to the corporations like all those Republicans....
If you cannot provide a source then I have to assume that you either have access to his offshore account, work for the organization which paid him the money or you're lying. I'll go with the latter.
@MrSTANDFORAMERICA are you suggesting he's rich because he's managed to get a load of payoffs in his 10 months in office? I thought it was because of his work in healthcare, law, telecomms and his efforts to stop contractors stealing from the government. I'd love to know why you think he's a crook. Where are you getting your info from? Is it your own imagination or is it genuine facts which we can all research for ourselves instead of taking your word for it?
Bullshit. The fucking insurance companies FUCKED us up the ass again, the bill handed the Republinazi traitors everything they prayed to Jesus for, and the American citizen continues to be fucked.
Good Job Grayson ! back in Aug this was looking grim. Than u stood up and spoke out. letting other dems know there was a ray of hope. and today we have it. Even tho i dislike this bill in many ways its a step in the right direction. Atho its NOT over yet by a long shot, Next up the senate and thats were the bills go to get worse or die.
ah and by the way, why investigate where half a trill went or where two trills went when you give for bureaucracy 1.2 trill. good job grayson, good job! and from where are we going to get this money? i dont like you any more grayson, i just dont like you!
They could have more easily expanded medicare to cover those with pre-existing conditions ...leave it to government to overly complication everything that will ultimately cost all citizens higher taxes and more headaches. P.S. I am NOT a Republican.
I know the suggestion of raising taxes can be political suicide these days, but for something of this magnitude, I would gladly pay an extra $10 on every $100 I spent (except on food) if it would provide me with health insurance/care.
People are paying it now anyway to private insurers and getting much less in return.
Don't they pay about $1200/mo now for a family policy?
The Senate Finance Committee had the good sense to eliminate the extreme penalty of incarceration. Pelosis decision to leave in the jail time provision is a threat to every family who cannot afford the $15,000 premium her plan creates. According to the Congressional Budget Office the lowest cost family non-group plan under the Speakers bill would cost $15,000 in 2016.
• Section 7201 felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to 5 yrs. pg 3
Confronted w/this same issue during its consideration of similar individual mandate tax Senate Finance Committee worked on a bipartisan basis to include language that shielded Americans from civil & criminal penalties.
Pelosi's bill contains no similar language protecting American citizens from civil & criminal tax penalties include a $250,000 fine and five years in jail.
But keep in mind that the final version is still under development. The Senate has their own version to craft and then the two bills will be combined into one. A lot of changes can take place.
And with so many unable to find work, there will have to be provisions made.
But I'll bet first offence would be community service at most. Our prisons are packed.
FACTS: Prosecution is authorized under the Code for a variety of offenses. Depending on the level of the noncompliance, the following penalties could apply to an individual:
• Section 7203 misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.
Rock on Grayson-- you're the spine of the Progressive moment. You don't back down- you stand your crowd when most Dems would fold like lawn chairs. You're thousands of mile from my district but you can count on my contributions leading up to 2010.
This guy dare quotes MLK about freedom, when the healthcare bill REQUIRES all Americans to buy health insurance. He doesn't know what he's talking about.
I just stopped donating to his campaign. Thanks Grayson, you've out lasted your usefulness.
grayson is a traitor big time! he got my sympathy because of this phony fight of his against the fed but as you say he is showing his true colors. disgusting!!!
Yes, the mandate is unfortunate but necessary to prevent the plan from doing what the repugs are claiming... that it would drive up the deficit and bankrupt the country.
I'll have a hard time paying it myself, but at least I should be able to afford health care for the first time since the late 1970's.
Why? Because I was self employed and married a diabetic.
Well, this video was first posted shortly after the vote... which was an emotionally charged affair. I watched it on C-Span and the suspense was gut wrenching. Afterward there was a lot of backslapping and hands shaken. Then he goes to make this victory video. I'm not surprised his voice patterns might be a bit affected. The adrenalin was still pumping.
@Davetech23 Oh coarse, but I can tell he was pumped, but he also seemed like he had something else on his mind... something less benevolent... but I don't know... it's just my impression of him, and no mater how good an impression is, it can still be flawed. But the key reason for to saying that, was to discourage blind loyalty to anything, or anybody.
yeah but we did nothing to take on the other major lobby groups that had a stake in this joke. and we did nothing to address the fiscal madness that medicare will cause down the road
Grayson is making a terrible mistake. America has been on this road before with the war on poverty - long on good-intentions, short on sound economics and understanding of human nature (which is to say we don't know a lot).
This wholesale-approach based bill won't work - Grayson is making an assumption that politicians know exactly how to tailore a one-size-fits-all legislation for everyone. By the time it's in the senate, it will be rewritten by special interest, for special interest.
We know when we are being rammed up the old wazoo by greedy, uncaring corporations while their well-paid politician body guards stand around telling them to go for it, they've got 'em covered.
The American people are mad as hell and they arn't going to take it anymore! This legislation will be passed, sooner or later... the sooner the better.
That 2000+ page monster you all are afraid of is really less than 200 pages if you remove the double space, 1.75 indent on the right and left. and make it a 2 sided report format.
READ THE DAMN BILL befor you rant about what you hear from lying republican do nothings that only say no!
2000 pages in its format is the equivalent of eight 8-hour days of speech, like eight full days of legal argument or trial proceedings. It is a monster.
Are you saying professional readers read only fast as they can talk. Politicians are pro readers so you are not correct in you estimate unless you have trouble reading! Have you ever heard of speed reading? I have issues when a public servant drags a 24 inch stack of paper and say this is a monster without explaining that they printed single sided double spaced indented 1.75 right and left 25 lines each page. Thats missleading and wrong and you are wrong too!
2000 pages in its format is the equivalent of eight 8-hour days of speech.
People speak at a rate of 200+/- words per minute, or right around 50 of these formatted pages per hour; therefore, the document is the equivalent to eight 8-hr days of legal argument. Speaking as a legal court reporter for 25+ years, I am absolutely certain what I have stated to you is correct.
Forget the size, it can be read. We agree on that point I hope and its been out for more than enough time to be read. So a 1 trillion bill over 10 years bad but the CBO puts the savings at 1.1 trillion "goog" meaning the headlines should read health care bill saves 100 billion.
1 trillion on health care saving lives "good" 6.8 trillion on defense not counting the wars already under way kills inocent defensless people "bad". If fear is all that drives you, you need not continue this exchange!
Your point: the "size" was false representation by Republicans due to margins, etc. Ok, forget the size.
You assign opinions not expressed by me: Wars - not me. Fear? 2000 pages doesn't "scare" me, but legally I expect repercussions, surprises, loopholes. People most aggressively defending it today will be the most disappointed.
CBO says bill "saves" money *IF* we end current Medicare/Medicaid fraud and abuse. I think that's called a blind bet.
@dcbeards Well if i have to say who u are well.. I would say u are a smart person in republican standard who pick up republican points really fast and accurately. JUST A THOUGHT. Are u republican? or CONSERVATIVE? Republicans are selfish/greedy bast@rds and CONSERVATIVES are American ret@rds. Take ur pick.
I believe the media is driving the debate and hate is the motivation. Its tearing this country apart and it has to stop With You! There are a lot of moderate conservatives and the same is true for Liberal activists. We have to find a way to negociate a compromise.
I will agree with you on one point, Republicans in the halls of congress mostly SUCK! The bad way not the good way!
I agree. This bill should have been drafted with the interests of the American people in mind, period. Thanks to our Corporatist government, numerous concessions were made in order to please lobbying groups and corporate interests: Pharmaceutical companies allowed to set prices, individual mandate to add to insurance companies' profits, and state-based single payer amendment dropped.
I just hope the weakened public option is good enough.
Before you post a comment based on propiganda you hear in the msm read the bill. None of you who dont like the bill know what you talking about. There is cost controll.
If you dont have a job where's that huge chunk comin from.
Return the unemployment check!
No Jills will be killed.
True we have no money in this country,
blame Republicans.
The max out of pocket isnt 15,000 its 5,000 a year.
Republicans hate what he does and what he doesnt do. They just Hate and thats not good for this country.
I don't have a job, a place to live, or for my basic economic and healthcare needs met. This bill does not give me peace of mind. It makes me anxious, because I'll be forced to spend a huge chunk of my already-paltry income on insurance that won't cover me when I need it.
How can you say this gives people peace of mind when there are no cost controls? :(
@steveoboston It expands Medicaid, yes, but for those people WITH insurance, they receive no protection from insurance companies. No cost controls, nothing.
The way you described yourself, you'd get free health care.
I guess you're paying out of pocket like I am. I'm personally looking forward to a public option. $1k a month for a family of 3 with no bad health history is absurd - there's no cost controls today.
The public option does have cost caps. If private costs go up, go public. Private insurance costs should in fact go down, with a new competitor in the marketplace.
@steveoboston The public option's premiums need to be self-sufficient. For this reason, the premium costs for the public option are estimated to be higher than that of private insurance premiums. People who can't afford it will receive small subsidies, and since private insurance companies will be in charge of the public options, we're subsidizing their profits.
What on earth are you talking about? Every credible source says the public option will be lower, including the insurance companies. Also the public option will be run by the govt. not private companies. It really doesn't take that much effort to learn what is really in the bill, please stop spreading misinformation.
@IsaacScharp Oh, I guess the CBO is not a credible source. My mistake! I'll just blindly buy into whatever the DNC press release platitudes are, it's much easier than trying to accept the reality that the bill is horrible. Don't Google public option run by private insurance companies or anything.
Just continue to reprimand people for not knowing what's in the bill when you yourself are the one that's absolutely clueless. You're doing great service for America.
spreading misinformation, Rep. Alan Grayson and you miss the part about, If you not working for a company that enrolls you or you don't get your own plan you'll still be taxed $2400 a year. And still not be covered because you are not enrolled.
Never forget that there will be dinks like Rep. Alan Grayson running the obamacare plan. The same lying dinks that says, "i'll not sign it if it cost over $900 billion". Well it's over $1.2 trillion and the damn dink is going to sign it anyway.
Rep. Alan Grayson many of times has said he is sick of all the old people in Florida and will do his damnest to kill off as many as he can.
Well this bill he is push will do just that.
If Rep. Alan Grayson has no problem killing his own parents and grandparents, he'll have no problem killing anyone that don't pay up. Rep. Alan Grayson is
The bastard has already made his millions, now he is all for socialism in America.

Yeah, an already bankrupted country is promising more expensive programs, more spending, then who is going to pay?? or who is going to be Forced to pay??
Freedom or Slavery??
Why don't you explain that health care costs keep rising up??
Why can't you cut down doctor training admission, training time and costs???
When you stand by yourLOVED ONES bed side and watch the last glimmer of life pass from your loved ones eyes, and you stand there crying and you cannot do any thing to stop them from dieng .The truth about whats valuble hits you hard ! . Proper health care would have saved my dads life! Greed took priority over what was ethicaly the right thing to do. . Screw the elite ceo's who profit from the death of loved family members,

This bill will imprison countless American Lives. Tell me, how can these people who can't afford health care afford $15,000 a year ? And Nancy Pillowshit said pay it or go to jail. Tell me again how this will help them ALAN....
To Republicans, there's unlimited money for wars and Wall Street.
But you try to put one cent towards helping the American people, and they set the Teabaggers on you!
Teabaggers, their repulsive horde of mindless minions, protesting against their own self interests out of ignorance and fear. They are mad as hell but can't really articulate why, and are quick to assemble at the orders of Fox News.
I basically agree, but don't fool yourself by thinking the Democrats are saints. Aside from a few notable standouts, BOTH parties support the same Military-Industrial-Congressional complex and corporate interests.
Close only counts in horseshoes & hand grenades. This is not a health care reform bill, its a health insurance giveaway. I'm suspicious of you now Rep. Grayson. Is this the ol' bail and switcheroo again? The stench of corporate corruption permeates the whole rotten process & you are now on board with it? Where is HR 676 - Medicare E? Health Care Coverage For Everyone? Now that was a bill worth getting a bloody nose over. You and your ilk didn't even get your finger nails dirty on this one.
I agree with you. In my opinion though the stakes are so high that really if a half measure saves tens of thousands of lives then that alone makes it worth it.
WTF. i saw this guy on Alex Jones' 'Fall of the Republic" and he was fighting the Federal Reserve. Now he is supporting Obama's Health Care? Don't know exactly what was in the Bill, I do think everyone is entitled to Health Care (i'm Canadian), but shit son! Obama scares the HELL out of me, hope this bill was legit! now back to beating the bankers!
I'm still worried that the Senate is going to gut everything meaningful out of the bill. And is it true that I'm going to be required to give for-profit health insurance companies my money or face a fine? I don't think they deserve any more money. Unless there is at least a public option, I'm going to be batshit pissed off.

Of course Dennis Kucinich, Blue Chihuahua Democrat representing three-legged, purple, left-handed Venusians - I guess - found a rationale (?) to vote against it. Guess it's his way of begging for retirement.
But: Congratz on a job well done Grayson!:-) I'm so happy the americans are finally on the way to getting this basic right secured.
I think there are many who see you as one of the real fighters in this Grayson, and you deserve a lot of honour for what you've done. For once a politicians that speaks his mind and fights for what he thinks is right.
I think you are the most wonderful Democrat of a generation. I laud you. But...
This is a shitty healthcare bill. It benefits the insurance companies more than the people. It could have been a lot worse. But it could have been a lot better. My hope is that it will be fixed over the years.
You thank the invisible sky daddy. Did He vote in the house? I thought not. This bill, however imperfect, is the work of man.
And yes, you da man! Don't credit it to magic man.

Um this concept is socialism.
Grayson is a sell out.
He said some things before that I really agreed with, but "health care" is the "govt" mandating, taxing. and controlling more of our life.
Mandatory ID cards or RFID chips to scan you like cattle and tell you what you can eat drink think
what you are allowed and what you are refused.
Are there no adults left in America?
Do you even know what is best for you?
Perhaps the govt should examine phama co's & insurers for excess waste-

Here's the solution:
Let the registered dumocrats "opt in" on their IRS form this year to your government health scare plague, and go ahead and tax them for it.
AND
Let the Republicans "opt out" on their IRS forms and in doing so they can opt out of having their private insurance TAXED.
Use the taxes you already get from income to cover the uninsured and leave it at that!
Fair enough?
Honestly, you can pay for abortions and skip mamograms etc..for...'them'.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Alan Grayson. I see eye to eye with him on 95 percent of the issues the country faces, but I cannot be sold on standardized healthcare reform.
I and everybody all know that anything the federal governement touches goes to hell. And we're going to hand over 1/6 of our nations economy to the federal government?
So that the government can dictate how I control my own health?
So that the government can take more out my paycheck then they already take?
I say NO!
TheSilencer1313 2 years ago
Hahaha FEARMONGER? Thats funny.

They could have more easily expanded medicare to cover those with pre-existing conditions ...leave it to government to overly complication everything that will ultimately cost all citizens higher taxes and more headaches. P.S. I am NOT a Republican.
jackinla8 2 years ago
I know the suggestion of raising taxes can be political suicide these days, but for something of this magnitude, I would gladly pay an extra $10 on every $100 I spent (except on food) if it would provide me with health insurance/care.
People are paying it now anyway to private insurers and getting much less in return.
Don't they pay about $1200/mo now for a family policy?
Davetech23 2 years ago
The Senate Finance Committee had the good sense to eliminate the extreme penalty of incarceration. Pelosis decision to leave in the jail time provision is a threat to every family who cannot afford the $15,000 premium her plan creates. According to the Congressional Budget Office the lowest cost family non-group plan under the Speakers bill would cost $15,000 in 2016.
jackinla8 2 years ago
• Section 7201 felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to 5 yrs. pg 3
Confronted w/this same issue during its consideration of similar individual mandate tax Senate Finance Committee worked on a bipartisan basis to include language that shielded Americans from civil & criminal penalties.
Pelosi's bill contains no similar language protecting American citizens from civil & criminal tax penalties include a $250,000 fine and five years in jail.
jackinla8 2 years ago
I stand corrected.
But keep in mind that the final version is still under development. The Senate has their own version to craft and then the two bills will be combined into one. A lot of changes can take place.
And with so many unable to find work, there will have to be provisions made.
But I'll bet first offence would be community service at most. Our prisons are packed.
We will just have to watch and see.
Thanks for posting that.
Davetech23 2 years ago
FACTS: Prosecution is authorized under the Code for a variety of offenses. Depending on the level of the noncompliance, the following penalties could apply to an individual:
• Section 7203 misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.

When does the universal health care actually kick in? And what's the deal with Pelosi forcing citizens to buy a $15,000 insurance policy or else
go to prison for 5 years. That doesn't sound very humanitarian to me.
jackinla8 2 years ago
Your questions indicate that either you have not been paying close attention or that you have been paying close attention to Rush and Beck.
The legislation is not for Universal health care.
The Senate now has to pass their version.
The mandate would be based on income, but it should be considerably less than what is presently paid to private insurers.
I have not heard that 5 year prison thing from anyone except trolls trying to discredit. I am open to correction.
Davetech23 2 years ago
The prison thing would be unenforceable anyway since the war on drugs has our prisons overflowing.

They also removed all the suggestions Kucinich presented, like Single Payer, etc...
0xTRX007 2 years ago
Yes, the mandate is unfortunate but necessary to prevent the plan from doing what the repugs are claiming... that it would drive up the deficit and bankrupt the country.
I'll have a hard time paying it myself, but at least I should be able to afford health care for the first time since the late 1970's.
Why? Because I was self employed and married a diabetic.

By the time it's in the senate, it will be rewritten by special interest, for special interest.

dcbeards 2 years ago
dcbeards,
2000 pages in its format is the equivalent of eight 8-hour days of speech, like eight full days of legal argument or trial proceedings. It is a monster.
ACourtRep 2 years ago
Are you saying professional readers read only fast as they can talk. Politicians are pro readers so you are not correct in you estimate unless you have trouble reading! Have you ever heard of speed reading? I have issues when a public servant drags a 24 inch stack of paper and say this is a monster without explaining that they printed single sided double spaced indented 1.75 right and left 25 lines each page. Thats missleading and wrong and you are wrong too!
dcbeards 2 years ago
dcbeards,
2000 pages in its format is the equivalent of eight 8-hour days of speech.
ACourtRep 2 years ago
Forget the size, it can be read. We agree on that point I hope and its been out for more than enough time to be read. So a 1 trillion bill over 10 years bad but the CBO puts the savings at 1.1 trillion "goog" meaning the headlines should read health care bill saves 100 billion.
1 trillion on health care saving lives "good" 6.8 trillion on defense not counting the wars already under way kills inocent defensless people "bad". If fear is all that drives you, you need not continue this exchange!
dcbeards 2 years ago
dcbeards,
Your point: the "size" was false representation by Republicans due to margins, etc.
ACourtRep 2 years ago
Again you say people only read as fast as they speek. Did you read my comment or only see "your wrong"

How can you say this gives people peace of mind when there are no cost controls? :(
kelsbackonyoutub 2 years ago
The bill makes exceptions for the unemployed or underemployed. My impression is you will be covered with comprehensive care without being charged.
The intent of the bill was to protect folks in a tough spot from bankruptcy or death b/c they cannot afford healthcare.
I can't claim I've read the bill, but these have been major talking points.
steveoboston 2 years ago
@steveoboston It expands Medicaid, yes, but for those people WITH insurance, they receive no protection from insurance companies. No cost controls, nothing.
kelsbackonyoutub 2 years ago
The way you described yourself, you'd get free health care.
I guess you're paying out of pocket like I am. I'm personally looking forward to a public option. $1k a month for a family of 3 with no bad health history is absurd - there's no cost controls today.
The public option does have cost caps. If private costs go up, go public. Private insurance costs should in fact go down, with a new competitor in the marketplace.
steveoboston 2 years ago 4
@steveoboston The public option's premiums need to be self-sufficient. For this reason, the premium costs for the public option are estimated to be higher than that of private insurance premiums. People who can't afford it will receive small subsidies, and since private insurance companies will be in charge of the public options, we're subsidizing their profits.
kelsbackonyoutub 2 years ago
What on earth are you talking about? Every credible source says the public option will be lower, including the insurance companies. Also the public option will be run by the govt. not private companies. It really doesn't take that much effort to learn what is really in the bill, please stop spreading misinformation.
IsaacScharp 2 years ago 2
@IsaacScharp Oh, I guess the CBO is not a credible source. My mistake! I'll just blindly buy into whatever the DNC press release platitudes are, it's much easier than trying to accept the reality that the bill is horrible. Don't Google public option run by private insurance companies or anything.

Don't know exactly what was in the Bill, I do think everyone is entitled to Health Care (i'm Canadian), but shit son! Obama scares the HELL out of me, hope this bill was legit! now back to beating the bankers!

Alan Grayson, You are the man! If I had a representative like you in my district I'd actually go out and vote!

Yes step 1 down, good job, but there is no reason to celebrate until that signature is on the line

I'm still worried that the Senate is going to gut everything meaningful out of the bill. And is it true that I'm going to be required to give for-profit health insurance companies my money or face a fine? I don't think they deserve any more money. Unless there is at least a public option, I'm going to be batshit pissed off.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Of course Dennis Kucinich, Blue Chihuahua Democrat representing three-legged, purple, left-handed Venusians - I guess - found a rationale (?) to vote against it. Guess it's his way of begging for retirement.

One hurdle down, several to go.
