I cant talk about which circles we have done. There is no reason to guess mayan Calendars wouldnt be things circlemakers realise will interest people though. Weeds and grass dont flatten and just spring back up again. I know some artists who have worked on sand and a few were created for fun in snow but not publicised. Forests, no we havent worked out how to flatten trees, besides that would be rude since they take hundreds of years to grow, unlike seasonal wheats.

I like your attitude, I too am infuriated by sloppy science and unjustified assumptions. However on regular TV when they have done docus on the subject they have invariably concentrated on the blokes with a plank on rope. This has also been infuriating. What I have seen myself, on the day of arrival of a formation , is an army helicopter over it for 30 mins or so 30-50 metres up with cable going down to 5-10 metres, attached were various articles[ instruments] They deny doing this.
