Funny thing is if you turn off the sound and just watch them. You will catch every moment of that song in their expressions on their faces... They both loved playing togeather.. and WOW! you can not only see.. but hear it too :)
One of the best versions of this song is done by Sammy Shelor on a banjo using the "double C" tuning...I think Banjo Newsletter used to have it on their website.
The tune "Angelina Baker" was written in about 1855 i think, and it is an old bluegrass standard. Having said that, this is the best version i have heard. Tommy E. can be a bit of a wild man at times but here he shows what a true musician he really is. He and Muriel share the stage, not trying to outdo each other but just playing so well together they look and sound like they have played together their whole life.
First Angeline the Baker is an old-time tune that has been adapted to bluegrass, not a bluegrass tune. Secondly that is not bluegrass. I don't care if they played that with Flatt & Scruggs & Monroe, on WSM in 1945...... well then it would be bluegrass. Haha It's good yeah, it's not bluegrass thought. Please no one take offense just my OPINION. Muriel you're great! Sounded great.
You are correct! There are few things better than two accomplished musicians on stage meshing harmonies and syncopation... especially when they complement styles like in this video... and there ain't nuttin' wrong with bein' CUTE... :-)
0:00 - 0:16...I thought M.A. was standing up!

The tune "Angelina Baker" or "Angelina was a Baker" or "Angeline the Baker" was written in 1851 by Stephen Collins Foster.

I've seen them both live albeit separately in the same club. Both are marvelous musicians but she is SO tiny. Maybe 5'1" if that...
