Haywire Movie Review, Gina Carano's First Movie : Beyond The Trailer

Hi Grace, saw the movie Haywire yesterday. I really didn't like the movie. It seemed tht Soderbergh made the movie just to show off Gina's fighting skills. Gina still has to work a lot on her acting skills. Other than tht too the movie seemed very slow with the action scenes(and most of the movie) without a background score. As much as I like to hear from the general public about the movies I'd love if u could share ur thoughts/reviews about all the movie.(if u get to watch 'em)

@SuburbianKnights I hope it is better than that tv pilot. I saw a review of it on that guy with the glasses. Nash, Linkara, and Film Brain reviewed it. The pilot was terrible. I think Xena would tell Palicki you are way too violent of a wonder woman. She does not kill.

I wanted to walk out in the first 20 minutes of this movie. Just not very compelling or interesting. But as it progressed, and when Bill Paxton turned up I started liking it. Solid 7/10.

Glad to see a woman in an action roll that looks like she can handle herself. I don't have a problem with Jolie but she's a twig girl. I do have a hard time with her as an action hero. I like when actors look the part hey are playing, not just prettied up. And Gina fits the bill nicely. She's gorgeous, but she's not a twig, and very capable.

I'm looking forward to seeing this movie. The first i heard of Carano was in the trailer, and i've since watched the American Gladiators series, where she's excellent. I have great hopes for her.

The Girlfriend Experience was actually a really good movie that took a critical look at some aspects of society and preconceptions, as well as real human emotion and interaction. The fringe part was casting an actual porn star, who did great in it.

Also, the audience gave Haywire 7-8,5 and a hater 2,5.

Gina Carano has looks and talent, whereas Sasha Greys talent ... well anyone can do ... if they are they desperate for money.

I have heard from multiple sources that Carano's voice was altered post production because it sounded too feminine. It is a bit of stretch to say she did a great acting job since Sodebergh's direction confined her too narrow a range of emotions - like a little stoic to really stoic. Her dialog was also quite stilted. I think with a good acting coach, and her physical abilities could take her far. She is definitely a more believable female action hero than anyone else Hollywood has tried.

Gina Carano definitely has the physicality for the role, and she did an awesome job in the hand to hand combat sequences. They are probably the most believable hand to hand combat choreography I have seen involving a female action hero. Those fighting scenes were shot well. However, the rest of film was abysmal. Outside of the fighting scenes, every other shot was reminscient of 70's thrillers. Sodebergh's effort to be artsy brought the film down.

I LOVE Ocean's Eleven, didn't care for 12, and thought 13 was alright. I figured after Eleven, Soderbergh would OWN Hollywood. But everything seems to be hit and miss any more. I hope this does well for him. I am a fan. :)
