@nunadulgwana To set the record straight, yes the Korean version was original, though I see why people think Mandarin was. It's since the song is written stylistically Chinese (I can hear differences in musical styles) and ironically the Mandarin one became more popular..or well known to be more exact. But now there's a million versions out there anyways. I'm Chinese by the way (and so FYI, the phrase "ching chong" doesn't exist in Chinese).

Cantonese sounds good in both sung and spoken, same goes for mandarin.

However most people would say cantonese sounds better then mandarin when spoken because its less " Ching Chong ". But more people learn mandarin because its a major language in China
