  • lol so old. it's 2012 now.

  • dude we have the same damn case.0,0

  • @davejoshmom1

Well, i took it from youtube "AudioSwap". Its called "Anthem for urban life" from Sojorn.

  • Anyone know the name of this song?

    I'm really digging it...

btw I'm running PIII 500mhz 320mb ram on Windows 2000. It can only play 240p on youtube because the video card is only tnt2 16mb. I'm gonna try ZenWalk!

  • @davejoshmom1 That PC is dead, lol, RIP.

  • i hav 1 word 2 say about ths viedo and u... N-E-R-D

  • @xX3M0xS0ULXx

:D Thanks a lot man!

  • Where did you get the desktop wallpaper. I like the tunnel effect.

  • One other thing... I use an NVidia accelerator and with this distro (not to say it's any different with others) I got hardware OpenGL acceleration easily. The NVidia Linux 3D drivers are excellent.

  • Nice tune... what is it?

  • thats pretty high tech.

  • love the music

  • ah yes forget 3D ubuntu beryl fagotry, this is what i need for my old scrapyard pc

  • hi, tell me more about the music please.

  • This is installing right now on my old computer Idk the specs exactly but it was meant for windows 98 but it was running 2000 and now i killed 2000 and this is installing i just set it to auto install and take the whole partition.

  • Im running Zenwalk 5.2 on my Gateway laptop Dual Core 1.8GHz 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, and it only takes ~5% of total memory, ~2GB total HDD space, boot in less than 30seconds.

  • Cool! I can imagine what that hardware is able to do with a ligth OS. I quit using Kurumin, i find it a bit silly, now im running dual boot, XP and Xubuntu on pentium3, 450mhz, 480mg ram, master HD 40gb and slave 160gb. And it takes about 2 minutes to boot either OS. Xubuntu is a bit slower than Zenwalk or Kurumin.

  • I'm looking for a good distro like this. Could you please post the memory usage of this system right when it's finished booting? Eg by pressing alt+str+f1, log in, free -m

With and without buffers, and swap usage. Thx!

  • Tasks: 80 , 1running. CPU:2,6% 1,0%sy.

    MEM.-579940K , used MEM.-565108K , FREE-14832K , BUFFERS-16896K , SWAP-1020116K , 0%used.

1020116K FREE , 358816K CACHED. Well, Zenwalk is cool, ligth and easy OS (im a noob). But lately i found a brazilian linux OS called Kurumin. I`ve try it on a virtual machine and it is really nice, i think that its even ligther than Zenwalk. Im going to try it on this desktop later on. And i will post if it works fine.

  • 535Megs memory usage without buffers? THAT's a lot!

I'm a huge Gentoo fan, it's a very powerful distro, cause I can trim it down to whatever usage I want - eg 17Megs@desktop idle with 2.6 kernel, fluxbox, sshd, apache, proftpd. Unfortunately it takes much work to set it up, and keep it working, and it's by no means suited for normal ppl.

  • So I'm still looking for a good distro, that's easy to use for everybody, complete localized (German) and has support for several years (without the need to upgrade every 6 months...); furthermore it must have a small footprint, 'cause there a lot of machines like your pIII out there, that could be still of use (with the right OS).

  • First I tried SuSE, but it was very slow. (K)ubuntu seemed to be ideal, but as they quit the support for KDE3.5( the Kubuntu line seems to be quite disregreded by the devs), I started looking for alternatives. I don't like gnome & the new KDE4.

  • @SeltsamerAttraktor TBH, Gentoo is so hard to use wouldn't be almost as easy to compile your own kernel and make your own Linux distro?

  • @vapourmile No, not at all. On Gentoo you are indeed required to make your own Kernel and edit all configuration files by hand, but that's ways easier than building a Linux system from scratch because of: Portage, the exquisite package manager that is the very heart of Gentoo. Without it, it would be truly painful, but with Portage you have the magic in your fingertips. I have yet to encounter a better one. Far from hunting down tarballs and resolving dependencies by hand.

  • @SeltsamerAttraktor Hmmmmm interesting. Thanks for that.

  • @SeltsamerAttraktor I've never used Kurumin. But I have used Zenwalk and I becamse a very quick convert to this slick, light Linux distro (having tried several other types, including the famous ones).

  • EXELENTE !!! linux rules

  • Im not sure that i understand, but if its slow on some videos, just try to wait a bit, wile its streams : !

I not pro overclocks, it will make or pc die faster, but after u boot, press "del" or "F11" and do what you want on the bios settings, at ur own risk! Be careful!!! Read and get all information u can before u damage ur machine. My best advice is, if that isnt ur main PC, just get a linux distro on it.

  • LOL. You are right. But the funny thing is that, this piece of junk was useless for almost 5 years, and now its working as an extra pc on the garage. I just post this movie to show how Zenwalk (linux) runs on this limited hardware. I´ve tryed, Fedora, Ubuntu, Xubuntu, slackware and MS windows XP, but they are all too heavy, Zenwalk was the only one that works. P.S.:Just check my other movie about PS3 using ubuntu.

  • you pc is a rel SHIT :D
