Brilliant!!! I've never seen the wax trick, its usually just a drop of super glue on the fox. My tying has improved in leaps and bounds thanks to your videos. Also do you prefer a hair wing to the slip or feather wing in terms of durability?
Glad you like tying...I was asked to tye a fly which would do both Atlantic Salmon and Steelhead and this was the one I thought would please everyone. I would say that the hairwing would be the most durable but the feather wing certainly has the look..
Hi Davie top notch tying. I dont want to sound rude asking you this question but how are some of your older videos longer than the 10 minute cap YouTube had?
Davie~ What a beauty this one is!!!! I don't know that if I tied flies that amazing if I'd be able to fish them. As the comment made by "TotallyFlyTying". is spot on!!! God Bless, Sam
Brilliant. The Akroyd is a personal favorite for steelhead in the Pacific Northwest. Your version is less fussy than the one I learned from Dec Hogan using strip wings from goose or turkey.
Would you please comment on mounting the jungle cock eyes. I have an inexpensive cape and the quill is oval shaped...in the wrong direction! When I tighten down on the third or fourth wrap, the feather rotates in place about ninety degrees. Even more exasperating, the feathers will flair out from the head.
There's two ways which helps the jungle cock sit better one is to keep the fine fibres on the eye which will act as a cushion round the stem of the feather and the other is to tye on the small black area between the white and glossy part of the jungle cock feather, this is the best area.
Another superior tie. Many Thanks Davie and just in time for steelhead season!

Amazing. So good. Say Davie, what happened to that squirrel wing dry fly you put up the other day? Never got a chance to watch it.

Hi sbleiler,
I'm sorry but I took the video off because I had said that the Montana dubbing was synthetic when it's 100% natural, I'm going to film it again..
