One question for all those who played ArmA, or are just more informed about this then me; are customizable kits in? I don't mean like 2 AR's or something, but just me in a ghillie suit w/ an M-40, Binocs, M-9 pistol and some C4? Because I would love a huge, open battlefield that I can sneak around in, shoot people in the back of the head, blow stuff up and just generally cause a lot of chaos.

yeah mate if you've played ARMA then you'll like ARMA 2... theres not much difference except graphics r much better, AI is much smarter, new weapons and vehicles etc... also camo sniper rifles and gillie suit. i recommend a powerful system 2 run it at its best. My clan(TEF) plays realistic teamwork online and the result is total awesomeness. The game isn't out yet in AUS but i found a place in melb that has 20 or copies so i picked up one for myself. i cant wait till the rest of my clan gets it.

You can in multiplayer change you load out with limits, back space. I often use a sniper and satchels with a laser desig for occasions.

The US military doesn't let you do that (adding scopes, silencers, grips). Well, the Marines don't, you take what they give you, and they won't be giving you anymore than the gun, and the scope thats already on it. So I highly doubt it.

You probably wont be able to customise, but there will be a lot of versions of the one weapon to choose from. As well as that, the Arma modding community is so good, it will make all versions possible.

And no it won't be like OFP2 which is more a console based shooter than a military sim like Arma. But it will probably be worth checking both out even tho it really looks as tho Arma2 will be better, bigger and more realistic.

I bought ArmA1, installed, tweaked settings, played a couple of times, uninstalled.

If they release something good this time, maybe, but from what I'm seeing on Youtube both ArmA2 and OFP2 are just OFP1 with post-rendering and models that aren't even as good as community ones.

If someone takes ArmA2 and removes all the models they've created and puts back in nice fast ones without the extra poly count that might make something worth playing.

I played all OPF games and I am currently having a lot of fun with ARMA. To say BIS has lost touch with OFP is to be totally ignorant of how they made ARMA. ARMA2 was ARMA was OFP. The core of the game does not change, but the options, size, graphics, etc .... My assumption is that Codemasters will arcade the OFP name, and thus, I will not enjoy it. I stand behind the original concept from BIS.

OFP 2 has nothing to do with the original OFP. OFP was made by Bohemia Interactive studios, Codemasters just have the rights to use the name. ArmA is the true continuance of first OFP.
