  • i thought terra had blue hair...

  • "I mustn't ruin. Everybody's hopes!"

"I won't let you. Get away with it!"

This inflection is driving me crazy...

  • @MrChenrezi Yeah I wish they would edit the videos to close the gaps in the sentences. It may work with Japanese sentence structure but with English it's just awkward.

  • Heh... at the end of the match Kefka turned into Vizzini from Princess Bride :D

  • Kuja: Ur not getting away

    Terra: Get away!

  • dave wittenburg owns kefka!

  • Cant get enough of using the holy+flare+ultima combo at the end

  • ummm this game is on difficulty 2 lol u suck

  • @thessbest123 It was meant to demo their moves, there wasn't a need to be badass.

  • wow....add about 10 years to her voice and thats how i pictured her voice while play ff6....

  • Terra isn't as hot in her esper form as I hoped.

I have difficulty telling whether her or Wol's english voice is worse.

  • @dragonstormx I actually like her voice, now Ultimecia's bugs me, the voice itself is fine but they dropped the accent, I was really looking forward to it

  • when i play the story mode back in the theater mode its like watchin an epic movie, is there really gona be a dissidia 2?

  • @spiritreapr I heard they are adding Gilgamesh to it! I can't wait!

  • When are people actually gonna read up on Batman and realize that Joker didn't come from one movie only? :|

  • Am I the only one who think's Terra's break form looks a bit like FF8's Shiva? o.o

  • @Shadowheart0808 Considering that Terra is part Esper (her father was the Esper Maduin), it's possible that they decided to model her Trance form after other Espers that appeared in VI, and then down the road took aspects of her Esper form and fleshed them out for summons in later games.

  • I just noticed something

    Terra means Land in latin

and her voice actor is Natalie LANDer

  • when kefka broke out of the tank, why didn't the top part fall on him. that wouldve been funny. hes a clown after all. hahaha

  • Probably attached to the ceiling.

  • @mantramonk

    A wizard did it.

  • I won't let you... get away with it!

Oh the rage in her eyes!

  • Hmmm, i see they went with the blond hair from the original artwork..... looks good.

  • her alternate costume has the mint green hair

  • Loved it when kefka said:

    "hopes aren't worth dirt!"

  • KEFKAS VOICE AND TERRAS ARE PERFECT!!! ones crazy the other ones innocent and timid. perfect

  • The voice's are amazing. I mean Kefka's is deranged violent and funny. but terra's is gentle and innocent. they work amazingly.

  • awfully generic lines, Terra

  • Kefka's voice actor was perfect but Terra was such a pussy compared to how she was in 6.

  • Kefka's voice is AWESOME. It makes my skin crawl just listening to him, which is exactly the way it needs to be.

  • Meltdown is my favorite move and plus it comes in three forms.

  • hmmm who would win in a fight......Kefta or the Joker from Dark Knight?

  • I think they'd destroy half the world in their fight, and then laugh themselves to death.

  • Kefka. I don't think Joker has the power of a god or use any magic now does he? =/

  • Actually, there was a point in the comic when he got the power of 5th dimension being for awhile...you know that midget guy who had an obsession with besting Superman and had strange dimensional powers. He could only be defeated by making him say or spell his ridiculous backwards. Mr. Myxilplix (or something)

  • The one with the POWER OF A GOD.

  • " I can protect EVERYTHING, I wont be defeated."

  • I'm liking terra's english voice more and more as I play the game. even though I still think that her japanese voice is perfect for her, I realized it was kinda disturbing when she cries in the story when she can't control her powers. lol

her english voice just makes her look younger.

  • inconceivable!

i don't think that word means, what you think it means...

  • I poisoned both the glasses of wine.

  • LOL!

  • Exactly what I was thinking...

  • HOPES ARENT WORTH DIRT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IM GOING TO DESTROY EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D (also she could never defeat him in the game he became a god and you had to use all the characters at once to beat him)

  • mark hamill would be the only person that would sound crazier than the japanese kefka

  • uh oh the clown snapped lol but terra's voice is really nice

  • fucking amazing

  • I think Terra and Kefka have the best voice actors out of everyone I heard so far.

  • What about Cloud and Sephiroth? lol

  • They have the same VAs as they did in Advent Children/Kingdom Hearts II.

  • "hopes arent worth dirt!"haha

    man that sounded so cool!

  • Gotta give some mad props to the sound guy for that line, the way he got the change in sound on "everything" when Kefka broke outta the glass was spot on.

  • amen man to that bro haha

glad the voices came out better better than expected

  • "Inconceivable"

  • Is it me or does terra have eternal sonata Polka Voice..

  • Natalie Lander was Kisala in Rogue Galaxy, if that helps jog the memory.

  • I THOUGHT she sounded familiar! Also, nice to know someone else out there's played Rouge Galaxy.

  • there are many ultimas lol you kefka is using ultima that small ball he shoots and explodes..

  • terra's voice actress is natalie lander

  • Weird, they have two different kinds of Ultima spells in Dissidia (maybe more)

One from Terra and one from Kuja...

  • kefka sounds amazing haha

  • He's Kakashi sensei :D

  • really?nice haha

    i thought he sounded familiar

  • Really? I had to look that up! xD

  • haha alright

    you play dissidia?

im playin the"illegal"version from pspiso haha

    nah jk..........i hope

  • I wish! I REALLY need a PSP ;-;

  • Has anyone else noticed that at least half of the Final fantasy main characters are born with either SUPER POWERS or an heir to some weird legacy?

  • Hmmm...

    What about Zidane?

  • Well he was created to destroy an entire planet so of course he had powers just like Kuja, Kuja and Zidane are Brothers

  • really i dunt think so Squall, Cloud are ok haha!

  • terra's voice sounds good, better than i hoped.

  • 0:25 Kefka was getting RAPED!

    his lines were flawless though.

  • I'll be honest, I loved Kefka's voice acting, but Terra's wasn't exactly what I was expecting.

  • Kefka sounds so much better in this montage than in his own montage. I guess it just depends on the lines that were given for the demo.

    0:10 Sounds so...perfect.

  • agreed. I was afraid they wouldn't find a psychotic enough voice; thankfully I was proven wrong.

  • I wonder how people would feel if they got Mark Hamil to voice Kefka. Mark did the voice of the Joker in the Batman cartoon.

  • id be mad. it would stereotype him as a clown-voice actor.

  • Mark might've been offered the job, but just didn't want to have "clown-man" as an acting label. plus, his work in anime and japanese games probably got thrown off by Grandia Xtreme, or whatever that inbetween game of II and III was called.

I actually wanted to see how Spike Spencer would do Kefka after hearing him do Arakune in BlazBlue, but Dave Wittenburg actually surprised me with how well he did this role, especially when he says "I'm going to destroy EVERYTHING!"

  • I would have loved him to be Kefkas voice, he's the best at mad man voices. I really tought they would consider him. but, oh well

  • DAMMIT.

I was hoping they'd use Lightning's voice actress from the English FF13. since Terra and Lightning have the same VA in Japanese Dissidia and FF13.

Oh well... Kefka sounds alright, if a bit cheesy.

  • No... that wouldn't work. Here's why:

    - Just because one region has a single VA that voices 2 different characters doesn't mean another region should do the same thing, unless it's actually called for, such as the 2 characters having some sort of connection or reference of some kind.

    - In Japan, Yukari Fukui voices Terra... and Vanille, not Lightning. Maaya Sakamoto is the one that voices Lightning.

  • Woops. Mix-up. :P

But yeah, thinking of it, Vanille's english cvoice would be super annoying for Terra, and Lightning's English would sound too tugged. Lightning's voice would work for Celes (being a former general) but I'd imagine Terra's being more feminine, but not sounding like a child (like in this one)).

  • A child? What children have you been listening to? Terra sounds like a young woman, like she's suppose to.

  • It is high pitched and annoying, is what I meant.

  • Here's the thing though: Cloud was never meant to all exciting and uppity. That's just the way he is. He's suppose to sound like he doesn't give a crap. You let Sakurai get away with it all the time D: Give the guy a break

  • Yeah but you can sound like that and actually sound like your not just saying a line right off the freaking paper ^^; he's a terrible actor period...I feel they could've gotten a much better casting on BOTH Sephy and Cloud.

  • Newburn and Burton fit the bill on their characters perfectly. Cloud and Sephiroth were never all that energetic in the first place.

  • Not really...hearing them talk just made me more uninterested in there characters then I already was. They totally just sound like there reading there lines without even trying to act...like they just wanted to get out of the recording booths as fast as possible and get there money. Seeing how Steve has to desperatly get back to his wonderous world of SOAP OPERA'S...

  • Sounds like you're a bit stingy with the whole thing. No one's perfect, but both the Japanese and English directors wanted the characters not to sound as uppity as the rest of the cast. Cloud's not one of those people who goes on to spout out 'FRIENDSHIP IS EVERYTHING' and Sephiroth isn't typical in 'I WILL RULE THE WORLD'. No one's perfect, but seriously though.

  • Well, for one I hate FF7...I'm not big on Sephy or Cloud in teh first place, but at least the Japanese voice actor's made them sound INTERESTING...the English voice actors just sound so bored that it spreads into my willingness to listen to them, none of there line reads are interesting and makes me care to listen to them.

  • I'm not a fan of FFVII either but I do know these guys well. Cloud in Dissidia and Advent Children is portrayed as a reserved and generally uncaring individual. It's natural that he doesn't seem to care for a lot of things except simply getting the job done. Sephiroth on the other hand doesn't give two craps about everything either other than Cloud. But now it sounds like you seem to have animosity towards English dubs.

  • JUuust those two >.>;I just feel that it was such a poor choice to have two actors that have NO experience in voice work, play two of the most complex to play characters in the FF universe...yes there uncaring and such, but they DO convey Emotions in very MINUTE ways...and they just don't SHOW that..instead there boring, stale and overall not that great to listen to. As for the other comment...I actually perfer english over Japanese nowadays so yeah.

  • No experience?

Man you don't know your actors do you?

Newburn is recurring-most voice actor for Superman in animated spinoffs of DC Comics. They kept him doin' his voice because no one embodies a legendary hero like the Man of Steel as good as he does. So who better than to voice a former legendary hero like Sephiroth?

  • if you'd played the original game, you'd know that Cloud actually cares about others and what they think (hell, he joined SOLDIER just to be accepted by others, including Tifa). his reserved nature is a result of not being accepted by anyone and being let down by his own hero gone mad, Sephiroth.

  • um, cloud never actually joined soldier. that was all in his head.

  • I meant to write "TRIED to join SOLDIER". Either way he still ended up as a grunt, and even then he still managed to stop Sephiroth, which I still prefer the way he did it in-game as opposed to the anime.

  • same here, they made him too emo. his charecter isn't bad now but he was much better in the original

  • There's an anime?

  • Yep; Final Fantasy VII: Last Order I believe is the name. It came out 4 or 5 years ago I think. it's about half an hour to an hour long, and chronicles a back-story segment from FFVII about Zack's time as a SOLDIER up until the Nibelheim incident.

  • He never joined SOLDIER, all memories related to SOLDIER were Zack's

  • You're preaching to the choir here. I've beaten FF7 twice. I said he TRIED to join to impress Tifa and because Sephiroth was his childhood hero, but instead was nothing more than a lowly grunt.

  • You also need to take account of lip-synching issues as well. It may not come out as well, but they do their best and they do it well.

  • Clearly you know nothing of japanese diction (different from language). Takahiro Sakurai is a really great Seiyu, while Toshiyuki Morikawa is ubsurdly overused on long haired villians. From Inuyasha's brother to Bakura from Yugioh, he voices all the white haired guys. I imagine YOU like the voices because you can mentally place in your head what their eng voices should be like. Anything less won't satisfy you.

  • Wow, Morikawa was BAKURA? roflmao

He has such a friendly voice in the English version. xD That is so messed up!

  • Very true. Cloud's always reserved but I like the part in the movie when he told Sephiroth that there wasn't anything he didn't cherish. Before he kicked his ass. It felt more powerful, more genuine than any of the friendship speeches that crappy dubbers(4crap) like to shoe horn into their shows.

  • Who's terrible. Steve Burton's a fucking amazing actor. Fuck he's been on a soap opera in one of the biggest roles over 20 years.

  • which is not saying much, considering Soap Operas are garbage. however, him and George Newbern still did pretty good jobs

  • Never said they weren't but they do give people some serious acting chops after that long.

  • Did I just hear a slight bit of Mark Hamill's Joker during the "Hopes are worth dirt!" line? Man, his VA is just amazing.

  • Kefka's VA seems to really shine in this montage more than his own.

  • i'm not really satisfied with terra's voice acting. hearing her "Yah!!" is so funny. kefka's doing great so far though.

  • is that..natalie lander (rogue galaxy)

  • The voice acting is good, but they say their lines akwardly.

  • Cloud and Sephiroth are next week. :D

  • we already know what they sound like though. same voices as advent children and kingdom hearts 2

  • I like the voices, but the script sounds really incoherant with the attempting conversation.

    I musn't ruin everyone's hopes

Hopes aren't worth dirt, I'll destroy everything

I won't let you get away with it.

I'll destroy everything, I won't let you get away with it? ... ummm huh? He hasn't done anything she knows of for her to say that, so whats with that?

    Just a minor annoyance.

  • She won't "let him get away with destroying everything".

  • have you even seen all the other scenes for here story? if you have im sure it would make sense

  • I own the japanese version of the game and I read through the script on Gamefaq. It's got nothing to do with the backstory, it's just that dialogue seemed incoherant, which isn't the actors' fault.

  • there isnt anything wrong with it. "everybody's hopes" refers to winning the war against chaos, Kefka wants to destroy everything and she doesn't want him to get away with it. you just need to think about it a little more and then it becomes simple

  • meh, I still don't like the last line.

  • There's some history that's happened prior to Dissidia, so yes he has done stuff

  • Another person who doesn't see my point. Just because he's done stuff, doesn't make the dialogue sequence any less awkward.

  • But if it's such a minor annoyance, why does it have to be picked at though?

  • Because it shows that there's more to dubbing a japanese game/anime than just getting good voice actors. They need good directors as well. The director for this game is Bob Bucholz, and considering his track record, it wouldn't surprise me if he's the kind of director who allows lines to be done in single takes and lets little things like this slip. The original script for dissidia was NOT incoherent like this, which is why it bothers me, since for the most part, this sticks to the script.

  • Okay? And? It's only one part. Not like every other parts' gonna be bad. Yeesh. It's only 25 days from now till the game hits shelves. It can be fixed. But seriously, if it's minor, then there's no reason whatsoever to get worked up over. It's not effecting the game as a whole

  • I'm not 'worked up'. I'm just sayin' it could have been better. And why would I talk about other parts of the VAing that bother me in the comments of a video that wouldn't pertain to any of it? I'm sticking to the subject at hand, which is "this" "video". I'd think it pretty obvious, don't you?

Would...... would you "like" for me to talk about the other things that bother me about the VAing. It's not that long of a list, since I like the voice actors. It's just some of the directing choices.

  • I would said with you on how the lines seem to connect poorly, but the sub I saw of this seem to suggest the lines are very close to the Japanese one, too. Maybe the directing issue is in the original, with it carrying over with the translation.

  • how long does it take to make copies of the game and ship them out to every store in the US and Puerto Rico?? doubt they could change much, hope they do though, Cloud's lines feature more self loathing than terra's

  • I like Terra's english voice. It's how I pictured she would sound.
