  • To all of you who lead such empty lives that you have nothing better to do than write all these inanities; ignorants with a desperate need to broadcast your emotions, your opinions devoid of learning and intellect---GET A LIFE.

  • Love this album, thanks for putting up the excerpts.

  • What a magnificent voice!

  • yes! She sings Iris. I will have to get this one :)

  • Congratulations - very well done.

  • All of the negative comments about Renee's voice, it's size (medium to small) are absolutely ridiculous! You guys are like bitter critics that sit around waiting for singers to crack on one note. If you really want to understand what an amazing artist that Renee is, I suggest you read THE INNER VOICE by Renee. Then you will understand what it takes to become a great Opera singer. She has had an amazing career and truly cares about her fans!

  • Fleming has a beautiful lyric soprano voice and should suit most ofPuccini's heroines but alas something is a miss. Here renditions are too Germanic sounds and her Italian is not idiomatic. I hope she doesn't scoop as she tended to in the past. She did a horrid Vissi Darte (scooping all over the place and taken extremely slow.

  • No, because she has said that Butterfly is too heavy for her voice. I think that she is a smart singer and knows how to keep her beautiful voice!

  • Fleming's timbre and style are perfectly suited to German and Slavic repertoire, especially Strauss, in which she rivalizes - and a few times even beats - the great Schwarzkopf, Della Casa and Lehmann. However, she's proved she's not a singer, she's an ARTIST. She can sing everything - if she adapts well to the style (which sometimes doesn't occur), the result is always well thought and beautiful. This Verismo album is a real artwork, and she surprised me with perfect Verismo style.

  • She would be good in "La Rondine" and "Suor Angelica". I'm sure there are others.

  • Renee Fleming is the best singer which ever been! Better than Callas... for me...

Her career is beautiful.. she can and knows how sing Barouqe, Bel Canto, Songs, Modern Music and Verismo also.

    Brava! MegaDIVA

  • I like her, but in verismo? She does not have the size of voice , or the color to sing roles of this nature, .. it is one thing to record them, lets see her sing Chenier, on stage and get over that orchestra and tenor(yelliing ) along side of her.. She is not a dramatic voice.. she is a lyric, and her size is medium, to small, not large.

  • As much as I love Fleming, verisimo opera is not suited to her. These excerpts are fine but hers is a voice that is mainly lyric and her talents are stronger in Mozart opera first of all and the bel canto repertoire. Her Italian always sounds too Mozart like.

  • Love her expression! she is simply amazing.

  • WHYY???

  • Why have recorded this CD?

Why have not recorded Die Tote Stadt ( Korngold), with Ben Heppner ?
