What most people do not know is that all, if not most, rock/pop music that has guitar in it after Hendrix is all based on Hendrix. Today in 2011 you can still hear it in all pop genres. It's long and unbelievably depressing, but if you want to know how Experience Hendrix have abused and distorted the legacy of the greatest guitar player in history and how hard they fought to keep the money made out of the hands of the people who made the music, it's an essential read.

@camobarker I'm too lazy to explain in detail, but basically, while Jimi was alive he, Noel and Mitch saw very little of the money, and after Jimi died, lawyers took over Jimi's estate and kept his surviving bandmates from earning any money from the recordings. It had to do with (among other things) the contract they signed with Jeffery and Reprise in 1966, and all three of them were far too strung out on amphetamines, weed, alcohol and LSD at the time to understand how bad they'd been screwed.

Their managers Chas Chandler and Michael Jeffrey cheated the actual band members out of almost every cent they made from their concerts and recordings; Hendrix's estate is now controlled by a distant relative who met him once, and Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell had to struggle to make ends meet til they died. The 'new' albums are all either recycled material or demo takes 'finished' by session musicians anyway. Don't give these people your money, please.
