I can tell you that a tatoo REALLY does not heal an ED. If anything it can actually cause relapse because the person feels even more guilt when they make a mistake and they see what is suppose to be a reminder of recovery and resistance

If by drugs you mean anesthetic;

Local anesthetic can be very dangerous for some people, and you need to be certified to use it (eg a doctor).

Topical anesthetics are okay but most usually need to be applied way ahead of time and don't last long enough for a serious tattoo.

So basically if 2 ppl endure the same pain, ie a tattoo in the same spot, the biggest difference between the 2 ppl might be mental rather than physical which means one person deals with the pain better, not necessarily feeling it less. Some ppl may have a faster or greater release of endorphines to combat the pain but I believe mentallity plays the biggest role by far.
