The 1990's was a good year not for Britpop or Alternative Rock but also D&B/Jungle, Hip Hop & Dance. D&B was more of Jungle in the 90's than now its simply D&B.
dom got his credit dude dom and trace are both friends of mine remember bac then there werent that many people makin tech step mostly we all hung in the same small circles
most of the stuff that came out sounded lie dom or nico at first glance because they were engineerd by them but when it was just dom or nicoit was very distinct and obnvious that they were solo just lie you new when it was an ed rush track or a trace track everybody got equal credit
@RustedBovine@RustedBovine YOU CHAT SHIT BOSS! DOM HARDLY EVER GETS CREDIT FOR ALL THE TUNES HE ENGINEERED LIKE THIS SUBWAY SONAR AND MUTANT REVISITED, I MEAN THE BEAT IN SONAR AND MUTANT REVISITED (THE TRAMEN) MADE BY DOM IS CALLED THE TRAMEN WHY IS THAT? BECAUSE HE GOT NO CREDIT WHAT SO EVER FROM TRACE UNTIL RECENTLY, DOM IS AN UNSUNG HERO TRUE HEADS KNOW THIS WHICH YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY NOT, ONE OF THE GREATEST D'N'B PRODUCERS OFF ALL TIME EASILY, ANOTHER DOM MASTERPIECE! GO DO YOUR HOMEWORK! 5*
Amazing that no one picked this as a Dom tune at the time. The initial beat is one he used at the time, most notably "Concrete Shoes" with Optical and the amen is obviously Dom.......
Just because dom used something doesn't mean he made it. It pisses me off how dom always gets the credit for pretty much everything in D&B these days even though he borrowed a load of what everyone else made.
It's a fact that Dom and Roland made this tune with the help of Ed Rush in Dom's studio. It's also commen knowledge that Ed Rush doesn't have the engineering skills which is why he rarely gets credited with tunes by himself. And if he did it was more then likely Optical, Dom or Nico twiddling the knobs.
I could make this sort of crap in FL Studio, I don't need to be some kind of sound engineer and nor does anyone else - the software has moved on and big studios are now totally redundant in electronic genres. And yes, Dom does get credit for everything, even songs he didn't produce! I can borrow a mate's computer and software to make a song but that doesn't mean he should get the credit. That's like the winstons getting credit for every jungle track.
OK mate you obviously know what your talking about...
When you next make a track as good as the Raven on FL studio please post it up on Youtube so we can all have a listen.
I'm also curious as to the identity of all these tracks unfairly acredited to Dom & Roland, so while your at it, post up the names of these tracks as well.
I got a track or two in the works at this very moment, and as it happens I was planning on putting it straight up on youtube when it's finished. So you might just get your wish.
Agree with you liferasta, Dom was an artist who could have done incredible things on Metalheadz, in my opinion the king of cinematic atmospheres, missed out there Goldie.....He never got credit for Trace - Sonar or Mutant Revisited either (2 of the best D'n'B tunes ever, easily)
I think one of the piano sounds in this is the same sample that paradox has used in a track. Great tune, this is the version from the single release or an unreleased mix?
@dannybammy But some nightclubs in different countries do have couple DJ's who do play Drum & Bass but in america yes your right its RnB being played in nightclubs.
@dannybammy YOu're going to the wrong clubs, man, it's all out there you just have to dig under the surface, the likes of Icicle , Rockwell, Dj Die, Dj Break, Total science & S.P.Y are all ripping it up at the moment... you're missing out!
The way i see it DnB just nevr got that big. But if you were to place some names on top of it these guys would be there. Maybe they just owned it too much and it was said and done. A moment in history. They'll be there as the godfathers on dnb.
what i like the most about drum n bass, its always been the same, and will never change, speed garage evolved into this donald duck bassline bullshit, but drum n bass will always stay dirty :P
ed rush & optical suck now, its true and its thanks to shitheads like pendulum. dom is the true unsung hero, got no cred for this or mutant revisited or sonar or the tramen break. i prefer the no u turn stuff to wormhole personally, dom's album industry is better.
ED&OP are pulling their heads out of their ass. Pendulum had ONE FUCKING hit. Vault. After that it was SHITE. Asses like them and Subfocus cranking out clown garbage is what has been fucking up DNB. Dom, Klute, and lately C4C have maintained a sound and tried to swerve it back to what it was. Tech Itch is crap now, which is sad because he was a fucking god for a while. Sigh. I hate the current sound, but its better than what it was 3 years ago or so.
In my mind E. Rush and optical are most tallented producers of all time.Nothing can change that. And they still will be even after ''Chameleon''.Like a flower - it might be beautiful, but at some point it drys and dies.
Nothing i mean, even if they would remix Pendulum - Slam to some utter mainstream shit (wich it is allready), could take away their status as Drum and Bass god's.
You know, they are the men behind the bible of DnB - Wormhole.
Chameleon, with the exception to the Perfect Drug 12" {only 2 good tunes on the whole thing} was complete crap. Personally I liked the Creeps better but Wormhole was still a hardcore staple for what seemed like years.
If you're comparing them to the bible then - Torque would definately be the Old testament and Wormhole maybe the New testament.
Anyways im hoping Ed Rush (and Trace, Nico) will be coming back as a Messiah with his no u-turn era darkness to kick the false prophets (khm*pendulum*khm) off the throne. Amen :)
i love the fasct that everyone remembers this tune being sick.BUT KNOWS the raven was just.. well... DARK..that bassline is still the "brown noise" as far as i'm concerned.. fucking ill.... always has been.. always will be..
I was actually searching for The Raven. It used to sound Dark as fuck when they used to drop it at The ONIT gigs in Middlesbrough back in the mid 90's. I was also looking for Kilimanjaro, that single had a class flipside which introduced the Lazer Bass sound. How many fucking rewinds did that get !
