What's the one show with a touch of glamor, The bang of a hammer, Five thousand watts, Nefarious plots, A guy in a kilt, And wan to the hilt? It's wild and woolly, A bit of a bully, A millionaire, A lot of Flair, The Hulkster when he's on a tear? It's the WWF Superstars of Wrestling!
wrestling was epic back then, everyone had a character, even the jobbers got street cred, nowadays evryone wears chonies and plays the same character and cody needs to wear some kneepads they dont even have to be pulled up they can be flair style, just the fact that they're there makes it less creepy
As a kid, Every Saturday at Noon it was a blast hearing this theme and getting ready for WWF Superstars...I would wake up early at about 8:30 am just to do all my chores so I could finish early in time to watch one exciting hour of WWF Superstars...... Today , I would not mind seeing the likes of Reno Riggings & Dale Wolfe vs Leigon Of Doom instead of some of the Drew McIntyre - Cody Rhodes crap that is on WWE TV today...Ahh..The Good Old Days
the golden age of the WWF ended about 1993, after that it really became a joke. You knew Vince wasn't even trying when he was shelling out people like Doink the Clown or Bastian Booger as "superstars"
Lol I actually ordered the "WWF" monthly classics On Demand (pretty dumb when I can watch it here) so I could see classics like this. 60% of what they are pushing are matches from the past three years. Once I was lucky enough to get SS '90 and part of royal Rumble '94 besides that mostly recent crap.
Steroids was the reason for the WWF's decline...Vince & WWF was on too much of a roll and making "too much" money ... so steroids became the governments nitch to take them down...so Vince lost his "Ultimate" stars, and his fan base with it.
1993 wasn't shit, They still have Savage at that point but reduced to a commentator, it's just that Vince gave the push to the wrong persons during this era at the expense of the really over Superstars. In my opinion, it went downhill when Savage left at late 1994 and Diesel was pushed.
Ironically 1993 was probably one of the best years... Start of RAW which changed the face of the company and most of the big PPVs that year were pretty good.
The rot didn't set in until 1995 come on, Lawrence Taylor in the main event at WM... It wasn't until DX and Austin rose up the card that things recovered.
oh yes, 95 was a bad year worst decade in gimmicks lol, and the first half of 96 up un till king of the ring of that year when austin made his infamouse speech,
I thought 95 was a decent year, i mean they had the rematch between razor ramon and michaels at summerslam that year, the rest of the year was pretty garbage though..i had like the 96 era or wrestling, i really did not like shawn michaels at first when he beat the hitman but as time went on i grew to like him, austin speech though at the king of the ring at 96 was truly a blessing in disguise though...
i agree with you completely. esp waht you waid about shawn, i didn't lie him but he has grown on me mostly cuz he was still going at it up until a few months ago and does it better than the guys half his age...gotta respect his talent
"the following program is performed by highly trained professional athletes. it's not recommended that their actions be imitated in any form whatsoever in the home."
It was indeed "Precious" Paul Ellering who managed the Legion of Doom for years but wasn't brought into the WWF with the LOD when Hawk and Animal first came in. Ellering debuted at WrestleMania VIII alongside the Legion of Doom in an interview segment.
Thing is, people always complain about wrestling today, and they miss the old days, and hey, I do too, but consider this: Nowadays you have Live TV every week.Dumbass skits and repetitive matches aside,I still would take them over an hour of squash matches, shows obviously taped weeks even months prior to their airing(and the idiotic attempts at hiding it by the announcers "wow, can you believe what happened at Wrestlemania, if you seen it, you know what i mean")
oh, and would somebody please.. 4 the luv of god teach Khali to wrestle.. that guys the biggest walkin turd to ever step foot in a ring.. hes even worse than giant gonzalez... and HEY VINCE........better storylines... please!!!!!! and i leave with this final sentence... bring back the Macho Man..... oooohhhhhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
these were the glory days of wrestling!!!!.... miss these days when u actually really looked foward to watching the show... can't stand what we have to see now, bunch of no talent, overrated, boring, non-entertaining assholes... ex. cena, batista[a warrior ripoff], all these wrestlers with no personality, or they all got the same personality like they are all cloned out of a lab....
yeah I have a DVD converter, but why can't 87-89 tapes (wwf) go to dvd Royal Rumble 89 & Summerslam 88 are good examples since I have'em and they damn sure wonot go as they supposidely have copyright material?
The 1992 WWF roster in this period was one of the best ever. 1997 WCW and 2001 WWF roster are the only ones that compare.

Agree, why would Vince pass up a Savage vs Bret Hart wrestlemania 9 or Bret vs Perfect?
Morinaga82 2 years ago
You know something else. Why would Vince pass on Flair vs Hogan @ WrestleMania. Jesus, that thing would have been HUGE.

It's the same company, and they lost the WWF name to the pandas. Deal with it. The new WWE Superstars show is a revamp of this one.
