  • This is a "materialistic" video. =p

  • lets say if my laptop had 2 slots could i replace 1 slot or do both the slots have to have the same make of ram ??????

  • does i have to make a backup of my laptop before?

  • @cookaacoo Hey dude i have 4gb's of RAM and i need some more how do i know how much more i can install? i would much prefer 6 gbs of RAM but i don't know if my computer can have that much.

  • SOMONE PLZ HELP MY COMP HAD 2 SLOTS FOR 2GB EACH AND IM GETTING A 4GB ONE IF MY SLOT HAS 1 OF 4 AND THE OTHER ONE HAS 1 OF 2 THEN WILL IT STILL WORK. I KNOW MY COMP CAN TAKE 8GB AND 4GB PER SLOT

  • thanks alot thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks.

  • but you do need to discharge the static electricity from ur body before you touch your new Ram

  • I have question. My pc has 1 x 1G PC2-5300 and 1 x 2G PC2-5300 Can I replace the 1G PC2-5300 with a 2G PC2-6400. What is the diff with the 5300 and 6400? and can I have one of each in my laptop? I will eventually replace the other with a 6400 if I need to but for now one is in my price range.

  • my question is what ram did you buy exactly.. do you go and say what your laptop is or do you need to say the numbers at the back?

  • Thanks for your help!

  • RAM sticks work best in matched pairs replacing both at the same time, also it is recommended for added protection to use static free gloves and a well known initial step would be to press the power button to discharge the stored power in the machine, then open up the back to upgrade your memory.

  • Not really a very good tutorial. You should include how to check how much ram you have to see if you are even able to add more, what type of ram you have so one doesn't buy the wrong kind, how much ram your motherboard can take so one doesn't buy more than they can use, what configuration your ram currently is (such as 1-1gb or 2-512mb) to also help one decide what to buy. Not advising one to discharge static electricity was a very inexperienced move as well as recommending against static gloves

  • @drk321 Yeah, you're right on every detail. He should have emphasised the fact that you cannot just do what he did, but have to do your homework first. He didn't earth himself first, he didn't drain any possible residual charge in the laptop (not exactly rocket science just turning it on after removing the battery). Worst of all he didn't clarify just how important it is to take precautions rather than just diving in; sloppy, very sloppy

  • were do you buy rams

  • Good video, TY!

  • do all laptops use same memory??

  • Please add light to your next video. it is not clear viewing the tabs etc. Also, I noticed that you said your computer originally had Vista, But when you booted up it showed XP. My laptop has Vista and it is SOooo much slower than XP. I was never happy with the Vista, Think I should go back to XP ?

  • @holland155 Well i made this video some time ago, When downgrading to XP was fast on this laptop but now its running windows 7 32 bit, runs fine aslong as you have 2gb+ of ram, but you can alllways put xp back on it but microsoft's end of life for xp is in 2013.

  • @cookaacoo Hi I've got a laptop with 1gb ram and I want to put a 2nd card in that is 2 gb would it mean I have 3gb ram? or would I have to take the 1gb out? It makes sence that it would be 3gb but I just wanna check so I don't go and buy a card and if it for some reason it wouldn't work. Thanks for the vid by the way it'll be really helpful.

  • Question, I have 1 Gig in first slot, want to upgrade, If I get a 2 Gig card, do i put it in slot a or slot b? should the higher capacity always go to the first slot or doesn't it matter?

  • @holland155 Any slot is fine.

  • is it difficult to change the RAM?

  • gud job buddy

  • RAM (Random Access Memory) is completely Volitle, meaning that when you switch your computer off, all temporary data is LOST, dont confuse this with with Non-Volitile where it saves it to your HDD.

  • Good.

  • so changing rams does not effect files on your computer what so ever or any configuration???

  • I dont know much about this...but if you expand your RAM what happens to all your old files on the old ram?

  • @MrSolid95 Ram is temporary storage every time you turn your computer off (or turn it off to change the ram) the Ram resets clearing it so there are no files on it :)

  • @cookaacoo Oooooh..ok, Thanks ;)

  • @cookaacoo so you mean all my files will be gone like microsoft word documents ect? .... and when i change my ram do i have to download windows 7 agin because i have that right now?

  • @YourFavoriteMartian2 Nope, no need to reinstall Windows again, only if your changing your Hard Drive. Adding RAM is just adding more "memory", nothing else...

  • @cookaacoo Thats a lie the RAM holds none of the files so if you change the RAM you will still have all your old files the files are on the HDD

  • @cookaacoo do you have to buy a certain kindo of ram for a computer or can you just buy a random stick of ram and it will work

  • thanks

  • Hell yeah bro I really appreciate it

  • how did you get the display of xp to be like that

  • i have 64 bit os windows 7 so im add 8 gb two 4gb ram sticks

  • i have a 3 year old HP Pavilion DV6560 which the screen is totally destroyed but every thing else in it, is ok. so i took my 6 year old Toshiba satellite and almost completely stripped my HP and put all of it in the Toshiba, and it works perfectly.

Everybody is laughing at me when i use my Toshiba, with not knowing how good it is!!

  • Thanks dude!! this really helped me out!!

  • This was just what I needed to make sure I upgraded the memory on my Toshiba netbook properly. Thanks for posting it!

  • S_I_M_P_L_E !! :S

  • I have hp compaq 6720s laptop and it has Intel centrino 2.10 GHz T8100 processor. 3MB L2 cache, 3GB RAM. Means it is a solid machine specs wise. Isn't it? Now it often has the problem of Ethernet card and one more thing that I found today is its caps lock key don't give any onscreen notification for caps lock on or off however its light works that is on the button. Please tell me solution if anybody knows. Thanks.

  • Hmm that looks pretty simple.....

My aspire 5920g has I think 8 screws or so and i would have to take off half of the bottomcover....I'm afraid xD

  • Thanks :) I just installed 2gb in my old laptop lol

  • what would i type in on internet if i want one for laptop?

  • you dont you go to a computer shop and buy one

  • thanks dude i have been having the same ram in my computer for 6 years 256mb

  • tnx dude!

  • is it just simply changing the RAM?

or do you still need to install programs?

  • thanx man i got that same comp lol and im about to change the ram good stuff

  • Thanks for making this video. I just ordered a 1GB memory chip for my Gateway MX3215 Laptop that I have had for two or three years now...... it only came with 256 MB's of memory..... can you believe I've been using that for so long LOL.... anyway I've never changed upgraded or changed a memory chip before and I'm glad you made this video. Now I know how to pop the chip out and change it when my chip arrives in the mailbox. Hopefully it's the right chip lol.

  • so when adding new ram will that just increase the speed of the laptop ?

  • thx dude! ;D

  • Cool Seats !

    @ 2:55

  • i played 40 $ for this and this sht soo easy only if i had seen this vid before!bestbuy suck!!!

  • try ubuntu. it is quite fast, and doesn't need much ram!

  • do you always need matching ram

  • its been slow the very day it arrived. The seller told me it was cos vista was just out. But later I found that to e untrue. Ram is 512 I was told thats too low for vista. I really dont know how to check the processor. How do I do that and whats theminimum for vista?

  • Hi if you want to check your proccesor simply click start go up to computer (my computer) and right click and go down to properties it should tell you everything you need to know hope this helped!

  • why did you chang from vist to xp? I hv a gateway laptop which is craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap. I was highly dissapointed it was bought brand new but its threeeee slow. I'd never advice anyone to buy gateway. By the way what makes a laptop slow?

  • Hey if you want to make your computer faster check out funnyamericans93 i have made a video on how to speed up your pc

  • little trick for you. If you strip a screw just put super glue in it and put your screwdriver in it and hold it for like 15 seconds and you should be able to take it out

  • lol i just watched 10 of the begginings of your videos and they all started with "all right in this video im gonna show you..." in excactly the same tone each time! XD
